These people did a FANTASTIC JOB!!! I've been to plenty of Halloween mazes, Scare Trails, and Haunted Houses -- from the East Coast to the West Coast. This one was a fantastic bang for your buck! It was a decently long "expedition" with a great blend of themes and build-out. There were the standard body parts, creepy animatronics, and sinister actors but also unique areas with optical illusions and 3D glow features (requiring the use of 3D glasses, which were provided). The rundown amusement park itself definitely lends to the creep-factor! Tip: Pay the extra $10 for the Fast Pass! It was 100% worth it! There are two distinct lines when approaching the ticket sales booth (general admission & fast pass). At first you may be confused and thinking the general admission line seems to be moving just as fast as (if not faster than) the fast pass line. Do not be fooled! Once you get past the ticket sales booth and enter the actual park, you will see the Disney-like general admission line, continuing to fold about 30 times! Our total wait to enter the scare trail, once we were in the actual park, was around 25-30 minutes (time in sales line approx 10-15 mins). There are also Port-a-Potties and a concession stand (with food and drinks) inside the park that you can take advantage of while your party waits to enter the trail. Warning: This experience features a heavy dose of clowns and darkness. If you (or your kids) do not do well with the dark, this may be a tough one for you. There are several areas to walk through that are near pitch-black darkness -- but luckily, they are over pretty quickly. I have to say the makeup and prosthetics for the actors was top notch! Obviously this isn't Hollywood but for a Scare Trail, it was definitely some of the best I've seen! You can tell the individuals involved in this are not just there to make a quick buck. They actually put time and effort into their outfits...but also their scare-delivery! I could tell they really paid attention to the individuals in the group that were easily scared -- as well as those "tough guys" that take a bit of extra effort. They made sure even the most difficult to scare in our group had at least a few solid jump scares LOL As for ages: our group consisted of a range of ages, from 8 years to 15 years + adults. Everyone in our group did just fine. I should preface that by saying the 8 yr old in our group loves horror and is not phased by the sight of blood, gore, etc. She loves to be jump-scared and typically does better than the 15 yr olds! If your kids are young and you are debating whether this is for them: if they watch scary movies or play scary games, they will be just fine! They will *absolutely* scream (a lot) and will leave shaken up...but they will be just fine! Such an awesome (and well-priced) experience for the family and we will definitely do it again next year! Note: I deducted 1 star due to the parking situation. The lot was completely full as was the street (Saturday evening). We ended up having to park on the street and the curbs are a bit high. Not sure there's anything they can do about the parking situation but it's an inconvenience to note.

Overall my friends and I had a good time. Entry fee is $25 but we ended up going with the fast passes to skip the line, which was $35. You definitely get your moneys worth. The trail was long and we really don't run into other groups that much. I probably won't go again because I prefer scarier attractions but if you're free a weekend I think it's worth to check out.

Had a great time! Line to get in was long but shorter than an hour while in peak times. Definitely worth the wait though! Been to most "haunted" and scary attractions in San Diego and this one actually had me screaming a few times! 10/10 recommend! Not kid friendly!

We went a few weeks ago to the trail with some friends. We had been pre-Covid and decided to check it out again. It is such a cool homegrown haunted attraction. We loved that they now take pictures of you that they post online before you go into the trail. Super friendly staff, pretty big haunted trail, and good times all around.

Scotties Scare Trail is one of San Diego's hidden gems during the Halloween season. The place itself is a bit hard to spot at night because the ferris wheel isn't huge like you'd expect it to be. Because it's a hidden gem, not many people frequent. Which is good for the short wait to no wait at all, and bad for business which could mean they won't reopen the following year. The bathroom scene and the bumper cars are by far my absolute favorite, and will more than likely be yours too. I won't spoil it, but I will reassure you, this scare trail is very carefully planned down to each and every detail. Its the perfect "Boo" trail and it's the only "Haunted House" attraction that offers photographs with the characters at the end. Scotties will not disappoint. Our family has been eagerly awaiting to go again this year and will continue to do so for years to come (As long as they're still in business of course.)

Can't believe we have been missing out all these years (I believe this is their 15th year) We had VIP entry for 7pm and at 1st I thought I could have saved some money and gone general entry but ended up the extra cost was well worth the money. The general entry line wasn't super long at 1st but for sure it started getting packed. We were 1st in line and eager to check everything out and get some good scares. The trial is a bit uneven but is well lit and actually not too bad to walk. The scareators were amazing, the props as well and the staff superb! The scares are enhanced knowing you are literally walking through the buildings and area of the old amusement park. We were in the first group to enter and what I liked not is we were spaced out. Even though there were roughly 8 of us we all got a chance to get scared. There was no overcrowding or trying to fit too many people through at once. It was perfect. Parking is free and easy in and out (dirt lot but we'll maintained). Depending on the time and date you go might help factor in which ticket option you want. There are three options, general line, fast pass, and VIP. Each allow you to stand in or bypass the line. Later in the season I would for sure go with fast pass at least. I can picture this haunt getting busier. Overall a great local haunt, well priced, easy to get to and awesome people. Can't wait to go back!

It was pretty sweet then and every bit as fun now that it is down in Mission Valley. I purchased tickets online (VIP for my son and I) tickets for this event were $40 each. We arrived around 8:30 and while it was busy there wasn't really huge lines. Since it is Halloween weekend I'm thinking it will be a lot more crowded. I do recommend buying tickets online prior to heading down as they do sell out. Each night there are a limited amount of regular tickets available at the entrance booth as well as VIP upgrades (you just pay the difference). There were three walk through experiences, each one better than the other. Lots of familiar scenes from your favorite scary movies. They also let small groups through at a time so there are plenty of scares to share with everyone. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful and make the experience that much better. The scareators both inside the experiences as well as wander through the event were all on point.  There was also a bar and a live band playing Friday night. You can even go axe throwing right in the parking lot. Plenty to keep everyone busy. Make sure you stop at the zombie photo op outside the mazes, they have plenty of props and even a fog machine setup where they will take a picture (or a few) with your cell phone for you. A pretty awesome momento to take with you. Whole experience took us about 30-45 minutes to walk through.

But these MONSTERS around this DISTURBANCE are making their job well by not leaving me Alone ;). So I just ended up going to my car and waiting for them if they need to buy something or anything they want to buy. I went back again inside the DISTURBANCE, my son, my husband, and his friends were still inside the mazes and I continued to be chased by the Monsters while waiting for my group. We like the place , at least something for a change this year. Plus my son said their Mazes are very interactive.

Parking is easy and only $10, the lot is at the back of the fairgrounds and a short walk to the entrance of the event. When you walk up to the event you do not see a lot other than the ticket booth, a few food vendors and some picnic style bench seating. There was no signage directing us where to go to actual enter the event. I saw a sort of laser graphic going on thru a doorway and of course had to go check it out. Do not walk through the doorway if a false moving tunnel is not your thing. We made our way through the tunnel only to find line after line with no real rhyme or reason. Lines were however filtered so that you hit one House after another. While the family stood in line I went up to the ticket booth just to inquire about the VIP option and was able to snag 4 VIP passes (at an additional $10 per ticket). We hopped in the first line which led to "The Passage" with the VIP we walked right up. I am not sure what this was supposed to be but I would not want to do it every again. No direction, just a bunch of black walls and strobes lights throughout and you had to walk through till you found your way out. It was pure mayhem, large groups of people (mainly teenagers running amuck screaming and pushing). Just as we were going to hop out one of the emergency exits one of the employees directed us to the actual exit. No scares here, just walked out with a headache. Once you exit you are dumped directly into the Hell-Billy Hootenanny que. There was no specified VIP entrance for this House but the wait was about 5-10 minutes. This House was better than the first for sure. The set dressing was nice but there was some confusion on the theme. About a quarter of the way in both my kids turned around and said there is so much going on what is the theme supposed to be? A few good scares and way more manageable and less nauseating than the first house. Scareators were on point and no matter what the theme was they did a good job of making you feel like part of the House. Last but not least and by far our favorite was the Haunted Hayride. There were two lines, one for general admission and another for VIP. The general admission line wait was around 45 minutes while the VIP was about 15 minutes. Everyone hopped up on the hay filled tractor bed. There were several scenes throughout the hayride (including everyone's favorite Circus/Clown theme). There was a good distraction of set dressing and items to help distract you so the scareators could actually scare multiple people. All in all the Haunted Hayride lasted about 20 minutes and was really fun. Lines were fairly backed up and those who had a timed entry of 7:30 ended up standing over and a half in line before even getting through the first House. I cannot say whether it is worth it or not to spend the extra on the VIP admission. I guess a better statement would be is how much you value your time. This was my first time to the live event (we had been previously during Covid where they set-up a full drive thru haunt experience). I went in with an open mind, I did not want to compare the Scare Zone to other Haunts we have been through. I am glad we experienced once and while this event might be scary and fun for some, but I doubt it will be on my Haunt visit list in the future.

A group of close to 300 attended on the opening Sunday during the last weekend of September. After picking up a VIP pass in the admission area, we were escorted by workers to a pavilion near the back of the facility for a pre-reception before the festivities began. Several tables were set up with various food and drink offerings. Part of our package included two free drinks from the mobile bar. The following were the savory bites that we sampled... * Chicken Flaming Hot Cheeto Bites * Chips with Cheese Sauce, Barbacoa, and Pickled Jalapenos * Devil Sliders * Mac & Cheese (regular and hot crumble) * Spaghetti Pocket The dessert offerings included churros and a parfait cup that contained a very sweet pudding mix that I don't believe anyone was able to completely finish. The chicken meat was pretty juicy which I consumed after stripping away the exterior. The meat and cheese sauce with the nacho chips were also decent. There was a photo booth available for us to mug for shots with or without props. I liked how well spaced the seating was which facilitated mingling with the other attendees. As the clock approached 7:00, we exited and headed towards the Carnival Stage where a brief Opening Scaremony was held. After that concluded, everyone started dispersing to visit the attractions that featured five Haunted Houses, seven Scare Zones, and six Vile Vignettes. Three of the large rides were also operating. I managed to try the Electric Eel and Emperor multiple times. There was too much ground to cover in just four hours so we prioritized the haunted houses. Thank goodness the VIP pass shortened the wait time to enter them. I didn't find any of the five to be particularly scary. Three of the haunted houses did have a speakeasy located inside where we stopped at each one. At 10 pm, a Monster Stomp show from a troop of performers was held at the Nautilus Amphitheater. The Yelp group was afforded the opportunity to sit in the middle section of bleachers. The music and choreography were pretty impressive. I stayed for only part of the performance because I wanted to take advantage of the short lines for the rides. For someone that has never attended a theme park Halloween event, I thought the whole production was solid. Thank you to Hannah and Yelp SD for spending much time to arrange the logistics of such a large group event.
