    After trail photos!

We had so much fun! Very creative and many jump scares. Actors are awesome and lots of planning put into the mile trail. Will be back next year. Get there early cause by 8pm parking was full and people parked on the road.

It was such a fun experience! I loved how they incorporated the old amusement park rides into the haunted trail theme. So cool. Lots of props. Fun props to take pics with outside the trail too.

The Haunted Amusement park was great time. Please read the website before going. The road leading to the park gets backed up quickly. Especially on the weekends. Even though the parking lot sign said full . They allow a car in as a car exists. We only had to wait a couple of minutes. Once in the line to get in takes forever. We noticed a small sign at the concession stand stating you could upgrade to a fast pass. We paid the extra $12. Totally worth it. It saved us 2 hours of not waiting in line. (We went on a Saturday night) so it was really crowded. The actors make up was a lot better than most haunted attractions I've been to. There's plenty of jump moments through out the walk. It took us a little over 30 minutes to get through the whole attraction. I felt like it's pretty much good for the whole family. I didn't find the gore factor that extreme that it would scare younger kids. Maybe mine are just desensitized to such things. Definitely worth the money

This was WAY better than expected. It was also better than universal studios scare nights and that's saying a lot. I really liked how long it was- I didn't expect it to be so ongoing but it was and in a good way. The only criticism I have is the parking situation. It was messy but best part it was free! Some ppl parked on the street for easier access to leave, I imagine but it was great overall. Worth the price! And I went on a night where they had zombies perform Thriller dance and that was fun to watch while waiting in line. A couple of the actors got a little too much in ppl's faces and that was annoying because they lingered longer than appropriate. This place also had some food options which was unexpected but nice if on a date and need a bite to eat. Items included nachos, hot dog, pretzels and lil fried donuts. Drinks too but sodas. They were only port a potties to use outside but overall, 5 stars!

Cool ticket, but they take it at the entrance.

This was by far the best "haunted house" we have been to so far. The old Marshall Scotty's Playland that you can see off the 8 freeway is now a haunted attraction! The natural setting of an old, abandoned amusement park in the middle of nowhere gives the place a natural haunted feeling. Winding through a mile and a half trail in some wide open spaces and some tight spaces, indoors and outdoors gives the ghouls plenty of opportunities for good old jump scares. Parking is in a dirt lot. Attendants help you find a spot. Free parking. The parking entrance is not well lit. The entrance line was long. We waited over an hour just to get in. It was really nice though that groups are spaced so far apart to leave plenty of opportunities for surprises. The trails are paved and unpaved. It could be tough to get through here in a wheelchair or if you have foot/knee problems. Beware of uneven, rocky paths and entrance line.

Wow! This haunted trail was sooo well done! It takes about 30 minutes to complete- that was including running & slow walking at times. The special effects, the placement of the scars creatures, the visuals- all so well done! They really put a lot of effort into this and it shows! We really had so many moments of screaming and having fun! It's a trail that focuses on scaring you by jumping out of unexpected corners and turns! So fun! I recommend 100% if this is your thing! We went on a Friday night and it wasn't packed either- so we walked through the maze with just our group. It's also great if you want a more intimate scare experience! Best one in San Diego hands down!

I think he best thing about this haunt is that the amusement park rides and buildings are real and original instead of constructed.

Instagram ead…read moreof driving up North for some spooky fun I figured try something new and a little more local. And I am so glad we did! Can't believe we have been missing out all these years (I believe this is their 15th year) We had VIP entry for 7pm and at 1st I thought I could have saved some money and gone general entry but ended up the extra cost was well worth the money. The general entry line wasn't super long at 1st but for sure it started getting packed. We were 1st in line and eager to check everything out and get some good scares. The trial is a bit uneven but is well lit and actually not too bad to walk. The scareators were amazing, the props as well and the staff superb! The scares are enhanced knowing you are literally walking through the buildings and area of the old amusement park. We were in the first group to enter and what I liked not is we were spaced out. Even though there were roughly 8 of us we all got a chance to get scared. There was no overcrowding or trying to fit too many people through at once. It was perfect. Parking is free and easy in and out (dirt lot but we'll maintained). Depending on the time and date you go might help factor in which ticket option you want. There are three options, general line, fast pass, and VIP. Each allow you to stand in or bypass the line. Later in the season I would for sure go with fast pass at least. I can picture this haunt getting busier. Overall a great local haunt, well priced, easy to get to and awesome people. Can't wait to go back!

Yeah we did have to wait a little after opening to actually get in, but it wasn't that bad, and it was opening night after all. One thing I would suggest is having some Halloween music to listen to while in the queue. All of the actors were so cool and did a great job. It was a nice long experience and I liked not being rushed through (at Seaworld and some other big ones they had security guards everywhere which kinda ruined the atmosphere). I'm so grateful that there were sections of the trail where I was just completely alone. The roominess of this haunt really helps sell it, along with the location in the mountains. It's a beautiful place to be even when you're scared.

It was pretty sweet then and every bit as fun now that it is down in Mission Valley. I purchased tickets online (VIP for my son and I) tickets for this event were $40 each. We arrived around 8:30 and while it was busy there wasn't really huge lines. Since it is Halloween weekend I'm thinking it will be a lot more crowded. I do recommend buying tickets online prior to heading down as they do sell out. Each night there are a limited amount of regular tickets available at the entrance booth as well as VIP upgrades (you just pay the difference). There were three walk through experiences, each one better than the other. Lots of familiar scenes from your favorite scary movies. They also let small groups through at a time so there are plenty of scares to share with everyone. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful and make the experience that much better. The scareators both inside the experiences as well as wander through the event were all on point.  There was also a bar and a live band playing Friday night. You can even go axe throwing right in the parking lot. Plenty to keep everyone busy. Make sure you stop at the zombie photo op outside the mazes, they have plenty of props and even a fog machine setup where they will take a picture (or a few) with your cell phone for you. A pretty awesome momento to take with you. Whole experience took us about 30-45 minutes to walk through.

At the Entrance, I was already jumped scared by PEGGY the CLOWN ;). I don't go inside their scary attractions and I'm just always the person who waits on the Bench and is just there to pay for everything they need. But these MONSTERS around this DISTURBANCE are making their job well by not leaving me Alone ;). So I just ended up going to my car and waiting for them if they need to buy something or anything they want to buy. I went back again inside the DISTURBANCE, my son, my husband, and his friends were still inside the mazes and I continued to be chased by the Monsters while waiting for my group. We like the place , at least something for a change this year. Plus my son said their Mazes are very interactive.

Parking is easy and only $10, the lot is at the back of the fairgrounds and a short walk to the entrance of the event. When you walk up to the event you do not see a lot other than the ticket booth, a few food vendors and some picnic style bench seating. There was no signage directing us where to go to actual enter the event. I saw a sort of laser graphic going on thru a doorway and of course had to go check it out. Do not walk through the doorway if a false moving tunnel is not your thing. We made our way through the tunnel only to find line after line with no real rhyme or reason. Lines were however filtered so that you hit one House after another. While the family stood in line I went up to the ticket booth just to inquire about the VIP option and was able to snag 4 VIP passes (at an additional $10 per ticket). We hopped in the first line which led to "The Passage" with the VIP we walked right up. I am not sure what this was supposed to be but I would not want to do it every again. No direction, just a bunch of black walls and strobes lights throughout and you had to walk through till you found your way out. It was pure mayhem, large groups of people (mainly teenagers running amuck screaming and pushing). Just as we were going to hop out one of the emergency exits one of the employees directed us to the actual exit. No scares here, just walked out with a headache. Once you exit you are dumped directly into the Hell-Billy Hootenanny que. There was no specified VIP entrance for this House but the wait was about 5-10 minutes. This House was better than the first for sure. The set dressing was nice but there was some confusion on the theme. About a quarter of the way in both my kids turned around and said there is so much going on what is the theme supposed to be? A few good scares and way more manageable and less nauseating than the first house. Scareators were on point and no matter what the theme was they did a good job of making you feel like part of the House. Last but not least and by far our favorite was the Haunted Hayride. There were two lines, one for general admission and another for VIP. The general admission line wait was around 45 minutes while the VIP was about 15 minutes. Everyone hopped up on the hay filled tractor bed. There were several scenes throughout the hayride (including everyone's favorite Circus/Clown theme). There was a good distraction of set dressing and items to help distract you so the scareators could actually scare multiple people. All in all the Haunted Hayride lasted about 20 minutes and was really fun. Lines were fairly backed up and those who had a timed entry of 7:30 ended up standing over and a half in line before even getting through the first House. I cannot say whether it is worth it or not to spend the extra on the VIP admission. I guess a better statement would be is how much you value your time. This was my first time to the live event (we had been previously during Covid where they set-up a full drive thru haunt experience). I went in with an open mind, I did not want to compare the Scare Zone to other Haunts we have been through. I am glad we experienced once and while this event might be scary and fun for some, but I doubt it will be on my Haunt visit list in the future.

A group of close to 300 attended on the opening Sunday during the last weekend of September. After picking up a VIP pass in the admission area, we were escorted by workers to a pavilion near the back of the facility for a pre-reception before the festivities began. Several tables were set up with various food and drink offerings. Part of our package included two free drinks from the mobile bar. The following were the savory bites that we sampled... * Chicken Flaming Hot Cheeto Bites * Chips with Cheese Sauce, Barbacoa, and Pickled Jalapenos * Devil Sliders * Mac & Cheese (regular and hot crumble) * Spaghetti Pocket The dessert offerings included churros and a parfait cup that contained a very sweet pudding mix that I don't believe anyone was able to completely finish. The chicken meat was pretty juicy which I consumed after stripping away the exterior. The meat and cheese sauce with the nacho chips were also decent. There was a photo booth available for us to mug for shots with or without props. I liked how well spaced the seating was which facilitated mingling with the other attendees. As the clock approached 7:00, we exited and headed towards the Carnival Stage where a brief Opening Scaremony was held. After that concluded, everyone started dispersing to visit the attractions that featured five Haunted Houses, seven Scare Zones, and six Vile Vignettes. Three of the large rides were also operating. I managed to try the Electric Eel and Emperor multiple times. There was too much ground to cover in just four hours so we prioritized the haunted houses. Thank goodness the VIP pass shortened the wait time to enter them. I didn't find any of the five to be particularly scary. Three of the haunted houses did have a speakeasy located inside where we stopped at each one. At 10 pm, a Monster Stomp show from a troop of performers was held at the Nautilus Amphitheater. The Yelp group was afforded the opportunity to sit in the middle section of bleachers. The music and choreography were pretty impressive. I stayed for only part of the performance because I wanted to take advantage of the short lines for the rides. For someone that has never attended a theme park Halloween event, I thought the whole production was solid. Thank you to Hannah and Yelp SD for spending much time to arrange the logistics of such a large group event.
