I have seen this movie like zillion times, yet never in such a setting. Not too many chairs, perfect amount of people. Coincidentally re-encountering with long time not seen friends and colleagues gave a vibe of 'neighborhood' even if I don't live in Little Italy. The speakers introducing the movie did a great job in engaging the audience. I not only enjoyed the company, the film itself and the summer night, but also the sense of community there. Only $5. Do not forget to bring a small blanket or a beach towel, it can be chilly.

The first movie on Saturday, 7/6 was hilarious and a great start to the summer series. And the crowd was great - a mix of young to old. Some folks bring in food from the great restaurants all over Little Italy. The venue has a huge 10 foot outdoor screen with a great JBL sound system. The quaint amphitheater suits these movies perfectly. This is the best $5 you'll ever donate to the arts and its guaranteed you will have a really fun evening, in the best area of the San Diego waterfront. Every Saturday night at 8PM, under the stars.

The turnout crowd was really big, both the front picnic blanket patron area and the back chair patron area were full by 6:00pm. Fun Flicks arrived at Liberty Station two hours late. At approximately 8:30pm, the truck pulled up, but the giant inflatable screen, video and audio systems took another thirty minutes to troubleshoot because of a loss of power and audio feed. The inflatable screen deflated/inflated three times before the movie started. By 9:00pm the screen was up, the video and audio were working, but half of the families and kids in both the picnic blanket area and the chair area packed up and left. The kids' time was over, it was getting cold, they had to go to bed. The screen deflated/inflated again, during Act I. Later, the audio cutout during Act II, and the video froze a minute after. That was it, I was not a fan at that point, I called it quits, packed up and left sad and disappointed. My faith in the Force was lost. The opportunity cost loss was pretty big. The Comickaze guys were out almost $2000 for this setup, but they apologized to the remaining crowd and offered discounts on their shops' comic books. The audience will blame Comickaze, they don't know who Fun Flicks is. Fun Flicks apologized and scheduled a makeup-date. This event needs improvement. Liberty Station power requirements, temperature and moisture considerations, and no technical support all played a hand. Recommend performing a dry-run a few days in advance at Liberty Station to figure out power, video and audio problems.

On this night, "Brave" was the featured film. Movies start at sundown, but the county was wise enough to provide hoola hoops for the kids to play with while waiting for the show to begin. We arrived about 20 minutes before the show started and had no problem parking or finding a nice spot to put down our blankets. It was such a great experience seeing all of the families enjoying a sunset picnic and kids running around on the grass and snuggling with their parents. Here are some tips for having the best time possible; * Dress warm - Think sweats and beanies. It gets a little cold on the ground once the sun goes down, even in San Diego. Some smaller kids had on snuggly pajamas which is fine too, unless you have the kind of kid who is going to be doing a lot of playing and running around before the show. * Bring beach chairs and or blankets. Make sure to have warm blankets to cover up with too. Some people left early because they were cold. * Don't forget the hot snacks! Think a thermos of hot chocolate, warm apple cider or other warm drinks. Some people picked up burritos on the way, some brought pizza and sandwiches. Everyone with hot steaming food was the envy of their neighbors. * Bring a couple of toys. Kids were playing with balls and bug catchers prior to the show. Josie hoola hooped, but I kind of wished I brought her ponies so she could have had something to offer to her new friends. We only got about half way through the movie, since Josie started falling asleep around 9pm. Luckily, we were near the side, so it was easy to make a smooth exit without walking in front of anyone. I would definitely advise that if you think you might have to make a quick getaway too! However, since it is all families, I'm pretty sure even if you were in the middle, everyone would understand.

When you take a look at the stage and the wide look of the seats you can imagine the many people when they came to theater the sounds of the orchestra that would welcome the many theater goers with the performers would greet so many. When you think back to the years of the 1940s you look back to the black and white films to when the many films and the stage would have a stage announcer, he would be the one that would get the audience the announcements and with the music to start the evening. The tuxedos and the dresses which were some of the dressy wears with the night of entertainment. With the many productions that have been performed at the Starlight Bowl Theater from the modern performers that have done large concerts and the grades of music from the first orchestras which were the many schools that were performing in front of the many crowds. With the many museums that had opened at Bal Boa Park the coming of the Panama Canal Exposition which was the greatest thing that gave the city of San Diego and the performing arts theater with the Introduction of the many new flavors. With my visit to Balboa Park, it was one of the best to see the places which had the performing arts area that gave the Starlight Bowl Theater its name and the power that it shared with the park. The years you see in the theater and the with the many colors of theater and the way the way it was first opened the sounds of the music you can still hear from the Starlight Bowl they have playing and the sounds of the 1930s and the 1940s. When you walk about the many areas near theater you can still see and feel what the age of Bal Boa Park and the Starlight Bowl the many musical and the first actors that would come to the Starlight Bowl and the Orchestras that made the 1930s up until now you may see there is so much history with the Spreckles and the Bal Boa Theater which are connected to the performing arts. Being a Yelp Elite Reviewer when I saw the Starlight Bowl was closed it was like killing the music of San Diego the history and with the sounds of great music and the age of the Broadway Shows have made the Hollywood. Films and the first black and white films the many years from the first age of films and the many years of the Orchestras first performed here. The Starlight Bowl is one place that has so much energy and the magic which is still there to restart the Starlight Bowl to give a great taste of the yesteryears to show San Diego what the original films and the Broadway Shows. Starlight Bowl still has the power and the feel to bring back the crowds to shine under the stars of San Diego.

San Diego back in the 1900 and the 1920s was rich in the many areas of creating and the many movies that were coming out of Hollywood would be showed to certain cities many theaters which had those years had the great welcome to the areas of the first silent movies. The History of the Guild Theater has so many years to it. The Hillcrest theater was built in 1913 as a silent picture house and the first theater for San Diego of the Hillcrest Area though small in small in size it also has a balcony. It was built in Distinctive Spanish with the form of the front and the bell that has been there for many years the apex has supported the bell for many years as so many have driven past the theater up 5th Avenue. For some reason it had closed down in 1917 and than the theater was reopened back in the year of 1930 by the fox chain of theaters here in San Diego. One of the greatest cult movies that was shown at the Guild was at the Rocky Horror Picture Show Sadly in the year 1997 the theater was closed the same Historic Park Theater was closed just blocks away the interior was changed and the many businesses that had taken over the front area the many great pieces of history are closed with the locations you may see in the Hillcrest and those that are in the North Park area. With the many historical places you may see some that have been here since the 1970s that have such great history with the many cities so many get torn down. Being a Yelp Elite Reviewer the many places to find are some of the bests being a per5sont that has grown up since 1969 for the many seasons and the historical places the many foods and the historical times which have made San Diego the one place the Military and the Top Gun School made the City Famous. We came here for a 9:30 PM showing of the Spongebob Movie in 3D and thank goodness it wasn't a full theater because we had to shift our seats due to all of the stains and spills that were on our assigned seats. A bit gross. Bathrooms weren't the cleanest either but it was at the end of the day, so there's that. It looked like some renovations were being made to this mall, so hopefully this theater gets updated too. Ordering from the self help kiosk was easy and we had no difficulty getting to our theater and seats. Sound, 3D, visual qualities were all there. I'm sure there's a newer more popular AMC in the area, but as tourists, we stopped by the closest one with the most reasonable time.

The seats were old, cloth (not even the easy-to-clean kind), and looked worn out and kind of dirty. Definitely not what you expect when you're paying premium prices. And that's the real kicker... $19 a ticket?? For that? No recliners, no luxury feel, nothing that justifies the price. The only redeeming quality was the sound system. If you're charging that much, at least keep the place updated and clean. Plenty of better theaters around.
