I have never stayed at Scotty's Motel, although from the pictures I have seen it looks quite nice. However, this is not so much a review of Scotty's as a motel, but of Scotty's as a cultural landmark in Adelaide.
When I was a child my father used to work at technology park, and on the occasions I would go out that way to visit him I was always fascinated by the giant Scotsman, looming from the corner of Nottage Terrace and Main North Road.
My fascination has remained to this day and I continue to use the giant Scotsman as a beacon or landmark when navigating throughout that area.
Scotty, as the Scotsman is known, is 5 meters high, dressed in traditional attire and playing the bagpipes. He is a well known icon throughout Adelaide. read more
