We were road tripping through Moira NY looking for a good local breakfast stop ... we found it! Not much to look at from the outside, but the food and service were amazing!! Food is always fresh and served hot. We've eaten breakfast and dinner there. Breakfast sandwich with ham is delicious, home fries are homemade and very good, my husband likes to try their breakfast specials. Dinner I've had chicken and biscuit special is my favorite, soups are good and hubby likes the burger. Service is good, they are always busy and welcome you when you walk in. The Interior needs a little love and attention. It's a hometown diner with diner food choices. read more

Moving to a new area, fear of eating alone and the pandemic had me craving some real food. I'm not picky. Turkey breast (a generous portion), provolone cheese and mayo on sourdough and I was never so happy until I tried the house made chips, especially the ones that had a little pickle juice on them. I think this was the best sandwich I've ever had. I'm having surgery soon and won't be able to use one hand for several weeks and already contacted the owner about getting some deliveries. I'm very disappointed in Scotty's Diner today. Previous experiences have been positive. I have always enjoyed the food and past customer service but today left me appalled. Waitress, Heidi, who was not even our assigned server took it upon herself to tell my family my brother, who has autism and is nonverbal could not walk in the restaurant. Mind you at the time the restaurant was not busy with only our party of 7 and 2 other tables of two. Heidi also apologized for my brother's presence to another table. As if his outright existence as a disabled person is a problem. Even after I explained my brother's disability to Heidi she remained hostile and cruel in her response. We brought the matter up to our waitress who did not seem phased by Heidi's behavior. The outright discrimination and lack of empathy are disgusting. To be clear Scotty has been kind whenever I have interacted with him and very accommodating to my brother. I doubt he would support his staff's behavior today and I doubt it would have happened if he were here. It is truly a shame. TLDR: If you have a disability, a loved one with a disability or just empathy for other humans in general I would not recommend this establishment after today. read more

I've been eating at Scotty's since it opened years ago. I've moved away from Brushton several times since Scotty's opened but whenever I'm home I have to stop in and get the Poutine. I love going to meet my Dad for breakfast here & the specials are always great & well priced. read more

Great local diner a family environment. Food never disappoints nor does the service. Very lucky to have a great local diner in our area.

Apparently we had the wrong meal at Scotty's as people seem to rave about breakfast. We had dinner and were disappointed. The waitress didn't ask how we wanted our fish prepared, assuming we wanted it fried, so we had to speak up to request it be broiled. I asked for lemon garlic sauce on mine, which came as a clump of minced garlic on top of the fish. The side dish of macaroni and cheese had been reheated and the butter had separated from the cheese. The waitress forgot to bring our "frozen" peas, but did eventually deliver them. Atmosphere was not diner like at all, but appeared to be a rehabbed bar. We won't be going back, even for breakfast. read more

Pretty fair place. The menu is mostly all things one can make at home. Portion sizes are larger than expected, so order accordingly. The food is classic diner food. read more

Scotty's is run by a friendly, former school bus driver whose taken up this restaurant. It's definitely an institution in Brushton, albeit a new one. Whenever I'm here, I'm not disappointed. Whether it be an omelet, french toast or something else, I always leave satisfied. read more

Got menu immediately, but waited 15 minutes for coffee. Breakfast took an hour and a half. People that came in after us were served before us and were leaving by the time we got our breakfast. Restaurant was about half full so there's no excuse for lousy service. The water tasted weird and we left our full glasses on the table as we left. Never going back. read more

Good food, excellent children's menu, great friendly service, but the very best feature of Scotty's Diner is the homemade rolls and pies! I have southern roots and grew up on pecan pies, they have the most delicious pecan pie I ever ate! read more

Our party of five enjoyed this restaurant so much that we ate lunch there two days in a row. I wish it were located near our home because I am sure we would be regulars. The food and service were fantastic. The portions were very generous and tasted more like homemade rather than traditional diner food. My family got hooked on the homemade bread used to make our sandwiches. The owner even let my father buy a loaf to take back to Connecticut. The homemade pies were also heavenly. The outside appearance of the building does not reflect the pretty decor inside. Awesome restaurant!!! read more

My family founded the Village of Brushton and now we live in Florida. I was reading on the Mayor's web page that Brushton Adult center is having a pie sale 11/22/17 and is in need of pie donations, please help! Bake a pie and bring it to the Adult center Tuesday before 2 pm, or on day of sale, Wednesday 11/22/17 9am-1pm. I looked on my computer and found Scotty's Diner called and talked to Karen who was so wonderful and ordered us three pies for the pie sale. This is what small town America is all about. We were driving through NY to VT and discovered this gem around lunchtime. The decaf coffee was full bodied and rich. My mushroom and pepper omlet was 3 egg sized, with a ton of toppings, creamy cheese, and the egg made into crepe thin deliciousness. The home fries had pieces of crispy skin on every piece with just the right amount of salt. The wheat toast homemade and thick sliced but fluffy. I bet the French toast would have been phenomenal. My husband's chicken sandwich was generously sized, perfectly grilled, and incredibly juicy. My son actually ate most of his portions. We will be sure to return next time. read more
