Adorning the walls of the Riverview.
Dan F.

My hometown bar, and not a bad one at that. I suppose there is a slight bias on my part but I'll do my best to be fair in my review. Previously a pub called Erin's Isle, it was bought out and turned into the Riverview, and if you're looking for a place to go in Brasher Falls, I would say this is the place. The joint is separated by a staircase and railing, with the upper level being the bar, and the lower level being the dining hall and hallway to the kitchen area. On a good day in the summer/spring, it is rather refreshing to sit outside on the shaded patio and enjoy the fresh air and sights and sounds of the river (it is called the "Riverview" for a reason). And, surprisingly, through either good placement or some northern black magic I've never heard of, the bugs are pretty tame in the area, so they tend to not make a damper on your meal. The atmosphere is what you expect. Usually however, you'll get a cozy, if not modest, small town bar, with country house lights and wood walls and ceiling. The interior design isn't fantastic, however, it does make you feel welcome, if nothing else. The bar itself is a decent size. It's the kind of bar that has 2 hooks to it, so makes like a square "C" shape, and it is stocked with the usual alcoholic goodness you come to expect, and you certainly won't be lacking in what you need to get your night started. The beer selection is decent, and almost always you'll find a number of local craft brews on draft, and a good amount of the large brand beers as well. The bartenders are young and quick to get your drink, even on crowded days, and always treat the patrons with respect. Often, they will drive home the older customers who've had a few more than they planned, rather than have them drive off drunk. The Riverside, from the bartenders to the chefs, is well staffed. As for the food, I have to say it is where the Riverview shines. Supplied by locally cut meats and some rather fine ingredients, when you order at the Riverside, 9/10 you'll really enjoy your meal. Aside from tasty bar food, their steaks are diverse in taste and selection, juicy, and plain delicious. Their wings are fantastic and come in dozens of flavors, and I'm a big fan of their fired mushrooms. While the portion sizes vary (a few meals seem too much and some too little) whatever you order, your tastebuds will enjoy the meal. As a final note, however, I would avoid the pizza. It's not BAD, per se, it's not great, and you'll be much happier ordering practically anything else on the menu. Apparently, others say it is the best in town, but as for me... it is mediocre comparatively. The late night crowd is hit or miss. Some nights you'll get a young crowd who is out to have a good time and listen to the band that is playing for that particular night. Other times, you might get an older, rougher, and (sometimes) ruder crowd that comes to get their kicks. However, they aren't terrible, and as long as you come with a friend or two, your night will be great, sometimes those rougher folk are even more fun than the younger crowd! All in all, the Riverside is a great place for food, fun, and... well to be honest it's the best joint in Brasher Falls. If you find yourself stuck in Brasher for the night, hop over to the Riverview. Your stomach will thank you, but perhaps not your liver... (depending).

Great food, usually great prices. Live bands and great view of the river. Varying portion sizes but the burgers are always awesome!

Ambiance: 1000/10. Top of the Park is an absolute must on any Lake Placid trip. This rooftop tapas…read morebar, perched above Players Sports Bar and Grille, has jaw-dropping views of Mirror Lake. You can choose from bar seating, indoor tables, or outdoor spots with a perfect breeze. There's even a big street-side table that's ideal for bachelorette groups or larger parties. The whole space feels elevated, cozy, and a little magical. Drinks: The cocktail menu is insanely creative and the pours are generous. Their espresso martini is one of my all-time favorites... I stop in for one every single time I'm in Lake Placid. It's that good. Food: I think about this food at least once a week. The menu is built around shareable small plates, making it the perfect pre-dinner cocktail hour spot for your travel crew. Order a couple of drinks and a few bites while you take in the lake views before your dinner reservation. My personal must-orders: the charcuterie board and the mac and cheese. Unreal. Price: It's on the pricier side, but genuinely worth every penny. For the quality, the atmosphere, and those views? Not overpriced at all.

I'm thinking I don't have to write a review because it's pretty clear the place is a slam dunk…read morechoice -- lovely staff, delicious food and a Mirror Lake view -- but I will warn that the portions are on the smaller size and if you ask for a bit more bread with the cheese board, they will charge you five dollars without warning. Those aren't complaints, but for any "hungry guys" who like hearty portions, this place will run up your tab.

The Flashback Lounge - Great job on the BBQ, slaw, and cornbread guys!

Wouldn't recommend this place! Was excited to go and see their grand re-opening as they had…read moreadvertised they would be having some BBQ specials and new beers. HORRIBLE and rude customer service. Will not go back.

I'm at my second visit now- Bluegrass, Blues, and BBQ is the event, Boots and Shorts is the band tonight. The wife and I are enjoying the music, and our BBQ plates are long gone. Hopefully they revisit this again, the flavors from the smoked pork, chicken, and ribs were testament to the time invested in their preparation. Our previous visit was on their first shot at featuring local stand up. The jokes were a little rough, but we really enjoyed trying our friend's recommendations for menu options. I'm not a fan of "hamburger pizza" in the least bit, but believe me when I tell you- try the bacon cheeseburger flatbread! I think it's the special sauce, but bacon is rarely a let down either. Their onion rings are easily among my favorites in town, and the chicken tenders are decent too (our friend raved about them, but I think he over sold them a bit- they weren't as mind-blowing as he was talking them up to be, maybe I just got a mediocre batch). Also, even while not being a big fan- the sweet potato fries were a way better option than the regular fries. Unfortunately there weren't any fried cheese curds (of course they're out- they're delicious!), and unfortunately there isn't any room left to stuff more food, but I look forward to being a repeat customer to work myself through their awesome menu and continue to sample the large variety of local beers. P.S. Love me some retro games, but with they'd flash back to the penny or nickle arcade game days...I still suck at most of these.
