Took in 2008 Buick Lucerne with a bad coolant leak, they checked the system completely and found a few things that needed to be replaced. The main thing was a plastic elbow which had failed, also the top radiator hose was failing. Repaired everything and then did a special gas test on the cooling system to determine if the head gasket was leaking from an overheating condition. No problems found. Great shop. read more

BEWARE of SCOTTY'S Auto Repair Shop, VALUE YOUR VEHICLES - FIND ANOTHER SHOP.. FYI - I spent Over $1900.00 on a New Radiator, & 3 different plastic shroud pieces for my small cooling system leak. I am a 68 Proud Retired father & husband, I have lived in the community for 35 years now, & thought I did my homework. Pride of Ownership, My vehicles are well maintained to Manufactures Preventive maintenance specs. Before I dropped off my RAM, My Engine was Strong & Properly Maintained & funtioning. I let Samantha know, Once they get it on the the rack I am open for Any recommendations, for I am hoping this Ram will be my last Truck. I stated this once again when I dropped off my truck, If they see ANYTHING that may be addressed, please let me know, we'll get it done at that time. I stated this again over the phone to authorize the work before they began the work. They said My Truck was in Great Shape, but I had a small Radiator Leak, everything else looked Fine. I trusted their Owner, SAMANTHA & her Lead Technician BRIAN, & Christian to evaluate my cooling leak. I authorized the radiator to be replaced & Anything Else regarding My cooling system, (Ex: HOSES, T.Stat, etc.) I trusted & followed their lead & recommendations. (HOSES NEVER DISCUSSED) After 400 Miles, My ENGINE OVER HEATED & BLEW on the 215 Freeway, Looked like the Hose to the Water Pump split. I called SAM Immediately Told her I would be towing back my Ram & Asked if they Replaced the ANY HOSES (Upper & Lower) & Thermostsat when Sam said NO.? BRIAN & CHRISTIAN made the Professional Call that the HOSES WERE STILL GOOD ENOUGH (Not Spongy or Brittle) Good Enough, they NEVER BROUGHT the HOSES TO MY ATTENTION, EVER, & & the T.STAT was pressurized & functioning. I found out after the fact, Standard Operating Procedures when repacing a Radiator, was to Replace the Two HOSES (upper & lower) & Thermostat at that time while they were in there.. I was Billed for One Hose Clamp but NO HOSES, NO T.STAT. A couple hundred dollars more, I Would have APPOVED the Two Hoses & T.Stat had it been brought to My Attention. I Put My Trust in Scotty's to Communicate Better for They are the Experts, I Am NOT. Well 8 Weeks without a Truck & $9,000.00 Later, My Engine Needed to be Rebuilt, PLUS - HOSES, WATER PUMP, T.STAT, STARTER, etc. I put My Faith in the Scotty's Team, And They Let Me Down. Very Expensive decision on Scotty's, they Assumed Zero Responsibility or Culpability on their part. Upon Towing my truck back into their shop I told them together, Why Did They withhold this Vital Information, Why Did They Not Bring the HOSES & T.Stat to My Attention, Their Responsibility To the Patron was to Let Me Make the Call.!!! Called here looking for help addressing an electrical issue which they stated that they specialize in (over the phone). They told me they would diagnose my vehicle for $160. I thought that was a decent price and decided to bring my vehicle in. I drive my vehicle there and dropped it off... I get a call 2 hours later saying they inspected my vehicle and everything was fine and that if I wanted them to continue it would be an additional $160 per hour. I was never told the $160 would be per hour from the beginning. It was a bait and switch routine like mentioned in the other reviews. I agreed to pay their $160 per hour and they told me my car was fine and that it had no issues except for the air conditioning needed fixing and that they don't fix air conditioners, all they do is charge them. I paid $500 for them to do nothing to my car. I go pick it up and my car dies a block away... I was so upset. I had it towed to another shop where they found the ground wires were disconnected. Either they disconnected them or were too incompetent to diagnose and fix this issue. I felt they were a total rip off. read more

Had my Car Towed to Scotty's last Tuesday after car stalled would not crank over. Explained problems to Sandy. Technician turned on engine heard rod knock. Sandy told me engine blew a rod. Engine destroyed. Sandy Suggested with Engine miles 165K. To junk car and get a new car. Did not charge me a diagnostic fee. Only charged me 59.95.Sandy said she would give me till end of day Thursday to find a junkyard to sell my car too. I cannot stress this enough. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE. I have had my truck just over 8 years, and have passed smog (now) 4 times. I also have 6 mechanics I know, I'm kicking myself for not calling them first, instead I googled this place for a simple repair and here's the nightmare: Long story short, an AC hose came unattached, it's a 2003 truck so it's to be expected, things need to get replaced as the truck gets older. I knew the hose was bad and as a result a possible clean for any water or debris and a charge for refilling my freon was to be expected. I also asked them to do the smog since it was due, and wanted to help this small business by letting them do it. I dropped it off on a Tuesday morning (4/23/24) it's now Thursday and I was told my truck couldn't pass the smog because supposedly my air intake wasn't smog compliant, AND they couldn't touch my AC hose because it would interfere with my air intake. They said it would cost roughly 1500-2500 to fix and there was no guarantee the AC would work, but it would pass smog. To wrap up the issue, I did what I should have done in the first place and took it to a trusted mechanic, it's still Thursday as I write this, and they not only did my smog check and passed, they are replacing the line and cleaning the AC system, and adding freon. All for $250. All the same day. I've reach out to 4 of my mechanic buddies and asked for their opinion and they all agree, this place was trying to make the most they could off of me. I'm a tradesmen and I feel like I have them figured out because I see it far too often: mark up the repair ticket and try to sell the customer on doing all the repairs, it's a bonus structure for the mechanic. But more often than not that compromises the integrity. If that's how they operate I hope they go under. You've been warned. read more

I'm usually happy to leave positive reviews but my experience at this shop was hands down the worst overall experience with a business I've had in my life. My door handle in my Z was not working. I took it to Scotty's expecting maybe a 200 or 400 dollar repair at the most. They told me they would have to charge 173 for the diagnostic that would go towards the repair. I thought it was steep but I had an event coming that weekend and just wanted to get it done. They call back the next day saying that a retention pin in the handle is failing and unfortunately they needed to buy an entire new door handle, a 400 dollar part from the dealer. That's annoying but I understand OEM parts are insanely marked up. However, they also were charging approximately 300 dollars on top for the repair... Overall, it would have ran me over 700 dollars. I told them that's way too high of a price, can I apply my 173 to fix an unrelated window issue (reseting the motor). They said no because that charge goes to opening up the other door. I told them they don't have to open up the door to access the door handle assembly, it's 2 grommets and 2 bolts that can be removed in under one minute. They insisted they could not apply the 173 dollars to a different repair because, according to the clerk, name of either Cindy or Samantha, "I have to pay my mechanics." I asked if I could buy my own part and have them do the fix and they said no. I started to get pretty heated and asked if they could offer any other solution or compromise. They said no and proceeded to charge me $173 for nothing. I pay and start to drive off and find my window motor in my driver's side door is now not functioning properly and needs to be reset. The car was in worse condition than when I brought it in the first time. Two weeks later, I buy the handle assembly from a certified Nissan dealer myself, pop off the grommets, fix and replace the door handle in about 30 minutes. Mind you, I have very little experience working on cars. The best part? Their diagnosis was not even accurate. The only retaining pins inside were in fine condition. A different plastic portion of the assembly had cracked. See attached picture for the new handle and the cracked old handle. Again, all of this figured out in about 30 minutes. To Cindy/Samantha (sorry I forget the name), I hope you read this and feel ashamed of this level of service of your shop. An absurd charge for a diagnostic, taking off a door panel for no reason at the customer's expense, inaccurately diagnosing the car and happily charging for it, refusing to find an alternative solution, and justifying it all with "I have to pay my mechanics." I hope this is just a fluke and everyone else had a more positive experience, but as of now I would nuit recommend this shop to anyone. Total incompetence and poor customer service. read more

They did their best to figure out what ailed it and after putting in a lot of time they ended up letting me know the car is on borrowed time.
