Would give 0 stars if I could. Extremely rude for no reason from the start. Told me it would be a certain price in cash to get my car. When I go there he said it was 60$ dollars more now then when I talked to him on the phone. Had to go back out to get more cash and the guy refused to show an itemized bill. Would not recommend ever. A scam artist who takes advantage of people who need their car and price gouges when he knows he can. Also closed on the weekend so if your vehicle gets left there later on a Friday night he charges you for the whole weekend. A total a**hole and a bad businessman and a bad person. He also made up the prices as he went when I came in and didn't have a set of prices for days spent there or for a towing fee or for an impound charge. read more

Excellent experience. Clear and articulate communication with a positive attitude and service that went above and beyond what is expected! My car was towed to this lot with plates removed. I showed up after closing and missing my plates and despite this, the owners attitude was positive and helpful. After patiently telling me how to acquire my plates I came back at nearly 8pm and the owner opened the lot up to let me take my car. This was the end of an incredibly long saga to acquire my car. This experience was a bright spot and MADE MY WEEK. He saved me precious time and Uber ride. I tipped him too little for the money he saved me. That said, the tow was not cheap and paying cash was not convenient. read more

I am happy to say that I had a great experience with J Scott Motors, and they were very polite to me. My insurance company handled paying the towing and storage fees. I'm not sure what the fuss is about with accidents and people complaining about storage fees that they don't actually have to pay for. If people are getting towed for a DUI, there's bad news. What you have to pay for towing/storage is nothing compared to what the RMV and courts are going to make you pay. J Scott Motors is good in my book. read more

This is the worst towing company I've ever dealt with in my life. The owner is one of the most rude individuals I've ever encountered in any business transaction. The behavior is really shady. My car was towed by the Concord police and they use this company. The guy won't tell you the price to get your car back. He won't even tell you when he will be there so you can pick the car up. It's some kind of a runaround so that you have to pay more because the longer your car is there at his shop the longer he charges you storage fees. He makes you bring cash and tells you it will be under 200. He will however give you an actual charge. It's inconceivable that a government agency a state police force deals with a company like this. I'll start with bad: they only take cash (no checks, credit cards, etc), and you have to come to their place to settle the financial issues. Probably the fact that they are one of the tow companies that police calls to tow vehicles of DUI drivers explains that inconvenience. My car had been towed there after an accident. I contacted J. Scott and requested that the car is delivered to my house (it was not drivable). He told me exactly how much cash I would need to bring for the storage charges, and how much the additional towing would cost. The service was courteous and quick. The guy who dropped the car at my place helped me getting it in the garage, and gave a few good recommendations regarding possible repairs. Oh, and they did not take the money for towing the car to my house until it was actually delivered there. Overall, my experience with them was brief and nice. I am happy to give them a high score, because they were polite, precise, and efficient (and no BS). read more

When you absolutely have to have your car impounded by the Maynard police: J. Scott Towing. Accept no substitute!

This is one of a number of tow companies that are in rotation with the Concord Police dispatch. If you have a choice, say due to an accident or break down on MA Route 2, opt to call for your own tow and avoid Scott Motor Service, J Scott Motors, or whatever they want to call themselves. Like others have mentioned, this place is all about holding onto your car for as long as possible to collect storage fees. They will play games with you and your insurance company in order to get extra days of storage fees out of whoever is paying. Some of the sordid tactics they used with us were: - Lying to our insurance company by first saying that they didn't have the car. Later it was explained that the 2-door coupe had been checked in as a 4-door sedan of the same make and model and that was what caused the mix up. So much for using a VIN or license plate number to cross reference. Never mind that their storage lot is tiny and the owner was the one that hauled the car in. It was all super suspicious that they couldn't put 2 and 2 together. That alone cost an extra day of storage while the involved parties went back and forth trying to find out where the car was. - Refusing to release the car to the insurance company without seeing proof of ID and getting a signed release form from the car's owner. Evidently they wouldn't trust the major insurance company that had all the pertinent details and when we called they wouldn't allow us to email or fax over the desired documents. So that cost another day of waiting until we could get down to the J Scott garage to show ID and release the car. Interestingly, when arriving some other gentleman was at the desk, not J Scott, and he didn't bother to ask to see the much needed ID (driver's license) when signing the release form, which itself was just the tow slip. Oh, and none of this was mentioned at the time of tow, when we explicitly asked if there was anything they needed from us. Obviously we would have given verbal or written consent then to release the car to the insurance company named on the registration. To add insult to injury, and as others have mentioned, J Scott is extremely rude. At one point, when dealing with the contrived release form nonsense, he informed us that he had been in business for many years without email or fax capabilities. When stressing the major inconvenience and asking why he was making things so difficult, J Scott said "I'm not the one that got into an accident." They towed my car to another garage (my preference) and left with the keys- didn't check to see if that was the right thing to do, I turned around and the car (and keys) were gone. That's ok, I'll go over and swap the keys myself, thanks for asking. My only other experience with these guys' towing service, they damaged my car. If It weren't for AAA sending TWO battery trucks from Waltham trying to SELL me a battery, I would not have waited over an hour for a jump. With that said, J. Scott driver came, said he heard from AAA, 10 MINUTES AGO, that I've been waiting a ridiculous amount of time, and gave me his company phone with AAA number to file a complaint! Obviously understood my frustration. When I mentioned the "seller trucks", he laughed and said "every AAA customer that calls with a dead battery, they immediately dispatch those, and wait till they are done to call a company to make a jump." The most prompt, courteous and efficient towing company around. My mother in-law had an accident after church and J. Scotts was at the scene within minutes. The guy was very kind and asked how she was and told her that he will work with the insurance company and not to worry. I went to see the car and the folks there could not have been nicer or more helpful. In today's world of blame anyone but yourself for your problems it is refreshing to see a company that goes out of their way to care and offer suggestions on how to finish the process as quickly and easily as possible... VERY VERY HELPFUL! I have never encountered so much useful information from an individual working on my car! I needed a donut put on because there was a nail in my tire causing a slow leak. Ryan from Scott motors came by to help me, and also taught me about my tire pressure, what may be causing my wear marks, and what I should know before going for replacement tires. I called AAA to tow my car less than 3 miles to the neighboring town since it would not start. The owner/tow truck driver that arrived was the rudest and most obnoxious person I have ever met. Within 30 seconds of meeting this tough guy with anger issues he told me he wasn't towing my car because I did not have an up to date sticker??? What in god's name does that have to do with towing my car? They have a contract with AAA. He then went on to tell me I was wasting his time and he only got $30,00 from AAA for the tow and that he had a $90,000 tow truck. WELL EXCUSE ME ! i dont care what the price tag is of your stupid tow truck. I am in need of a tow. He continued to further degrade AAA. HOW IS THAT MY PROBLEM??? I would never call this company ever again. AS this was not my choice I would call AAA and ask what tow company they were sending out.
