Best haircut that i have received period. Usually when i get one, i have to go home wash it and try styling it the way i usually do and hope it works out in my favor. But... After my apt with Lindsey, who did an awesome job, and gave great tips. I was able to walk out without a care in the world. I have been a customer at Scott Miller for almost 8 years now. I can honestly say that the service is outstanding from the moment you enter the salon and meet the greeters, to meeting with the person that is providing your service. I have had my hair cut by several people, as well as have my hair colored, manicures, pedicures, eyebrow waxing, facials, and make-up applications. I have never had a bad experience. In fact, I have lived out of the Rochester area two different times over the course of the eight years, and have traveled back to Scott Miller. Always a wonderful experience at Scott Miller's and when I don't, well, they are second to none when it comes to customer service. I moved here from Boston and was pleasantly surprised at their expertise. Less pleased with the staff that do the blow outs. Sara and Lisa are my colorists and Maria cuts my hair. Love them! I can be a bit of a handful and they have always been terrific and professional. I prefer the Webster salon as it is less frenetic but end up going to Pittsford most of the time because of the convenience. Looking forward to the finished renovations. read more

I have been going to the Pittsford location for almost 10 years! They are certainly expensive, but never have I received a haircut or color I didn't love. An appointment is usually the best way to go, but several times I have called the day before or day of and they were able to fit me in due to a cancelation. read more

I have been going here for about 3 years. My hair always looks beautiful when I go here! You can change up stylists and find the one that most fits your needs. I have Jessica and she's amazing. Also if you have bangs they give free trims! They only use top of the line products and are very conscious of you, after my stylist was running late into the next appt after mine she kindly asked a co worker to shampoo her and didn't rush her time with me, definitely considerate staff. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is it's a little pricey but the service is awesome! read more

I've had a number of services at Scott Miller over the years, from a full on spa day with body scrub and vichy shower to pedicures and gel manicures. My general impression was that it was overpriced and not nearly worth the money or the hype... That was until I met Julie, waxer extraordinaire! She is the only person I've ever trusted enough to allow to wax me, and I've never been sorry. She is always prompt, friendly, honest, very professional, and just a joy to be around. I may not look forward to the actual waxing part all that much, but I always look forward to seeing Julie! I don't mind paying the high price when I get consistantly quality services from her. After going to a different salon for 10 years I may have to make a switch. I was in desperate need for a cut and my go to stylist wasn't available so I tried out Scott Miller. I was set up with Lola who was brand new and I have to say I was absolutely blown away. I have thin naturally curly hair which I blow out. I spend a lot of time and money on my hair and with each cut it looks good, but I have come to terms with it just being what it is. I feel like Lola showed me the full potential of my thin fragile hair. My hair can be cut and blown out really quickly but she spent time with me showing me how to blow out tricky spots and how to fight greasy locks. I created this account just so I could share this. I had a great experience in this place of business. I was in Rochester on a business trip. What caught my attention was the huge MAC sign. I thought that I was going to a freestanding MAC Cosmetics store, but what I experienced was so much more! This place is magical! I swear! Ok so how do I describe this??? I'm visiting from NYC, so for me to walk into a full service salon wasn't a big deal, IT WAS THE EXPERIENCE THAT BLEW ME AWAY! Everyone was friendly, welcoming , and all "looked the part" the inside was beautifully decorated and loaded full of prestige cosmetics brands. Brands like Nars, Bobbi Brown, Tom Ford etc. I looked around for a while and when I went to the back to pay for my makeup I met a really nice woman at the register I think her name may have been Carla. I expressed to her how impressed I was with the over energy and esthetic of the business. She then offered to take me on a tour! This place has a spa, a nail salon a specific place for hair coloring , and a specific space for cutting a styling. It has everything! I've always wanted to own a salon and let me tell you if I ever had an opportunity to do it this place has set the standard ... sorta like a huge goal ! I've dreamt of something like this in my head ... I've seen salons like this on tv but in person ..... it's amazing !! I'll be back and I'm bringing a few friend. -1 Star ..I've been A Customer Going to Mac Cosmetics to Get my makeup done on special occasions for a while.. Yesterday was My Baby Shower and the first time I was treated terrible. I didn't make a appointment (which I Never do) ... but I came in at around 3:20/3:30 pm one Mac Makeup Artist was working (strangely) .. so one of the other ladies (it was about 4 working) Assisted or shall I say acted like she was trying to assist me by looking to see who could give me a full face application... which led me to Waiting until after 4:15pm to tell me they close at 5pm and Can't do a Full Face all she can do is my eye makeup...I was So Livid and I Have never been treated like this ... Luckily I Called Mac in Macy's at Eastview Mall and They got me right in . But before I left Scott Miller another woman of a different race came in and asked for a full face application and she was serviced. That was my last time going to Scott Miller just wanted to share my experience. read more

Worst hair salon I have ever been to. I have given it two tries and both times I was left unhappy. I have been getting blonde since I was young and the lady made my hair orange. After crying, they then put a hair color over the orange to make it brown. I still walked out having to pay 120 dollars with brown hair, which is nothing I wanted. Absolutely disgusting. read more

When I first moved to Rochester, I longed for a hair stylist comparable to my hair stylist back home. I knew I'd have to shell out a pretty penny if I wanted something good, and a friend recommended Scott Miller, so Scott Miller I went. My hair is naturally black and dyed to a golden brown. I came wanting to go a little bit lighter, and instead my hair stylist took me much blonder than I wanted. Fine, I can deal with that. The next time I came back, I told her I wanted to go a little bit darker and she took me to a dark brown. This, I cannot deal with. If you have dark hair and want to go lighter, than you know how difficult it is to not only lighten your hair, but lighten it to the color you want! I don't think she understands what a little bit means. Mind you, my hair stylist was one of the teachers at this salon. They should be the best, no? Maybe the stylists here don't understand asian hair?? If this is supposed to be Monroe countys best, then I am not impressed. If I am paying more than 300 for a hair dye I better be in love. Additionally, the experience itself is impersonal. You get your hair dyed by a stylist, then scooted off to an assistant to get your hair washed while your stylist does someone elses' hair. I had gone to Scott Miller forever ago and then left after another salon opened down the street that was cheaper. Today I went back for the 1st time after over 5 years because my regular person I get my hair done by was booked and I really needed a hair cut. I should have just waited. They told me this 1 stylist had over 20 years experience with thick hair. Don't ever trust anyone with no hair or can't do their own hair. I ended up leaving and going back to my regular person to fix the 50's style this person had done. I have big hair! Why do I want bigger hair? I might as well have cut my own hair. Wow! I am very impressed... After moving from Scottsdale Arizona a few months ago I have been going back every few weeks to get my hair done as I have been worried about finding someone as good as my stylist in Arizona. I was recommended for color to Taylor who is fantastic... After a few minutes of consultation she knew exactly what to do to cover up my gray and bring out the best in my highlights. This was followed by a very relaxing shampoo and condition by her assistant who then gave me a fantastic blow dry. I was waiting to be stunned by the price as I had heard that Scott Miller was rather pricey - however maybe I am jaded, but I thought it was actually very reasonable. I contacted Scott Miller to talk about potentially hiring them to do hair and makeup for my bridal party and I next June. They emailed me back about 3 days later with a generic-ish response, and didn't answer 2/3 of my questions. I've since followed up three times in the past week, to no avail. I typically get facials every other month, and I tried Scott Miller after receiving a gift card to the salon. I recently had a facial, and, while nothing bad happened, it was a disappointing experience. The esthetician was very product oriented, and she kept on asking me about the products I'm using in my daily routine over and over again throughout the facial despite the fact that I had it all written down on the history form given to me before we started. Frankly, anyone can put a mask on and take it off. The esthetician was uncomfortable doing extractions, which I've had at all my other facials without any problems, so she cut that portion of the facial short. Although I explained that my skin has been somewhat dry and uneven, she didn't comment on what she noticed with my skin and had no suggestions on how to improve it. I am in my early 30s and have pretty average skin (no crazy break outs and not particularly sensitive). Usually I notice an improvement in skin tone/clarity about a week after a facial, but I didn't notice anything at all after this one. Overall, it was a waste of time. I will say that my friend had a massage with Joy and raved about her. I still have a balance on the gift card, so I'm going back to get my hair cut. When scheduling that appointment, the receptionist was interested in learning about my hair before she selected a stylist. Although I've never had to explain my skin care needs when scheduling a facial, it may be prudent to do so in the future. UPDATE: Scott Miller makes customer satisfaction a high priority, as a manager has contacted me in order to rectify the situation. Hopefully, my future experiences at Scott Miller will be far better than this one. read more

I just moved to Rochester and after about 2 minutes of searching for a salon chose Scott Miller. I went to John who had the daunting task of fixing my previous cut...not only did he fix my random layers, the cut feels amazing! He cut some life into my thick, heavy hair that's perfect for spring/summer. I scheduled another appointment with him in 6 weeks. Some people have said the cuts are expensive, but honestly, $40 dollars is an absolute steal. In my experience, a cut like this runs at least $70. Seriously excited about this! read more

This is a first class salon, and for that, the prices are much better than average -- especially as you can count on getting something you'll like if not LOVE. I like that you see someone for the cut and someone else for the color. Both trained experts in their field...instead of getting either/or when only one person is doing both (not to mention the time you waste waiting for your stylist to get back to you because s/he is cutting someone else's hair while you cool your heels after having color done). Exceedingly friendly, lively, upscale...the place is a goldmine for a town the size of Rochester. For those uncomfortable with glamour and focused attention, it may not be for you. But for those of us who want to be pampered and are willing to pay for the fantastic, one-off look we get at Scott Miller...highly, highly recommend. read more

Everyone was really nice. overall it was a really great experience and I highly recommend this salon. Hi everyone, I am planning on moving to the rochester area in the spring so I decided to try out a new salon. I went to Scott Miller and had Kathryn cut my hair. I am very picky about my hair as I have had years (25) of terrible experiences. I just wanted someone who was well trained to give me a nice stylish haircut. Is this too much to ask???From the moment I met her, I felt at ease. I brought a couple pictures and we discussed the style and my hair etc...The end result was an adorable and stylish cut. Fabulous stylist (Kendall), who worked with me, even though I couldn't really articulate what i wanted, and worked with me after the initial cut and I still couldn't articulate what I wanted. She went to ask someone to put new eyes on my curly hair and Mr. Miller looked at it, gave a suggestion, made a few snips, and it was perfect. I do not like the new shampoo chairs or sinks. The chairs are hard as rocks and the clanging of the sprayer in the sinks as they drop it gives me a headache! Also had a facial, not what I requested, she spent the entire time trying to sell me products and when I left I looked like hell! Did not relax at all!! And thats what I went for!! Also went for shmpoo and style, my hair was so oily and heavy it needed to be washed next day! I think she used a ton of styling lotion instead of thickening spray! I've been going to Scott Miller for a few years on and off. This past appointment was the last straw, though. It took 4 hours, it cost $195 for highlights, and my hair looked better when I walked into the salon than when I left (my highlights are barely visible, my hair looks drab -- needless to say it is NOT what I wanted). I had a HORRIBLE pedicure there 3 months ago and contemplated never going back, but I thought I'd give it one last shot. I can say with 100% certainty that I will NEVER return to this salon. I have spent years bouncing from salon to salon trying to find the perfect one for my typical cut, color and style. Well, I have finally found the perfect place. Yesterday, I had my hair cut by Bri and colored by Ella. Both Ella and Bri were so personable and always made sure that I was comfortable and happy with my service. The hair cut I received is hands down, one of the best haircuts I have ever had. My hair was very thick, frizzy and unmanageable and now feels extremely healthy. I absolutely love the style and the layers she gave me were perfect. As for the color, Ella absolutely exceeded my expectations. I am a natural brunette, but like to color my hair red. In the past, my color has looked very unnatural and over-processed. Ella colored my hair to a perfect natural ginger shade that was exactly what I was looking for. Ella also recommended new products to me from the salon that are amazing. I highly recommend this salon, I cannot imagine ever going to another salon again! read more

This was my first time at Scott Miller salon. The Salon is very trendy and clean. Cool ambience at the Pittsford location. I LOVED my haircut. I had Jessica and she was very friendly, honest and listened carefully to what I wanted done. She charges 40.00 and I thought that was Super reasonable. I found a new stylist to go to! Next I went to Sherri for highlights. Honestly, not a fan of her at all. She was not friendly and didn't listen much to what I was wanting. She didn't do a good job consulting either. This was the quickest highlight I had ever had and ended up not liking it that much. I feel like SuperCuts would have been similar and a little lesser of a price. She missed a chunk of my hair and wasn't blended very well. Maybe I did need to pay that extra $30.00 for whatever she was talking about for washing. She talked really fast when mentioning it. She was a little standoffish also. But for the price I paid, I expected better. Plus, other colorists would go to their clients during the final stages of blow drying/styling, but with her we had to go find her. I wish I was more outspoken at the salon, and that is my fault, but maybe it is just me? We didn't gel I guess. I booked a future appt. and requested a different colorist. I have high hopes for Scott Miller and hoping my next visit will be even better! read more

New to the area and trying to coordinate a spa day for my mother and myself. Unbelievably horrible service by Jennifer, the "spa coordinator." I have NEVER written a complaint about a place until now. Truth be told, I don't think she possessed all the tools in the shed to be able to coordinate a spa day for two people. I was told I would be called one day and she did call the NEXT day. Fine. I tried to explain that it was a gift for my mother and to coordinate as many spa activities in a row as she could for her and I would just fill in but those simple instructions couldn't be followed. Then the rudeness came despite my repeated attempts to be friendly and figure out a day plan for the spa. Needless to say, I refuse to offer this place business based on this one interaction with "Jennifer" and am taking my business to Del Monte. It's a shame considering my husband is a plastic surgeon and we could have offered many recommendations. Scott Miller, I'm sure is a fantastic salon, but due to this first experience I will not ever go to or recommend. read more

I've been a client at the Pittsford location for many years. I've never found a better stylist than Sam. She's an authentic artist and takes great pride in her work. I've used other services as well and was always satisfied with the results. The last few months have been stressful for all, while the renovations were completed. Although the salon looks good, it has lost the friendly atmosphere that made it so appealing to me. The stylists are now in the front window which heats up when the sun is out. In addition, it's impossible to visit with others because of the way the stations are situated. I could tolerate these changes but it is so loud that I cannot hear my stylist and so conversation has become impossible. I've noticed other stylists who have to lean in to hear their clients as well. I will be patient if these issues are addressed but between the loud music and lack of conversation, I will keep my options open in the future. Please see if something can be done to decrease this awful noise. read more
