The next step today has finally arrived, surgery to remove the cataract from my friend's left eye…read more It's now 1:00 p.m. The building is located downtown at 1901 N. Meridian Street with parking as you enter or in the lot behind the building with signs directing you to the Eye Specialist parking lot. There are three entrances to the building, with one facing the front next to Meridian Street, the back entrance close to the parking lot, and one reserved only for unloading the transportation vans on the side of the building. If your support/family drives, I suggest parking in the back parking lot because it is free and convenient, and the back entrance usually has a person standing by the back door to provide guidance. They were super nice!! Just pull directly off Meridian Street entrance and go straight back to the parking lot. I personally felt the waiting area was extremely narrow and congested with approximately 10 chairs lining the walls. I guess you don't need to stay after your loved one is taken to surgery since it takes at least 2 hours plus to complete the process before you're allowed to see them. We were told the procedure would take an hour or an hour and a half, but it was much longer at 3 hours. Many people in the waiting area were complaining about the length of time the surgeries were taking. Everyone was getting tired of the long day, being hungry, and then many were concerned with missing work and their employers' reactions. Since the patients aren't allowed to eat anything until the surgery is complete, it makes for many famished patients. However, it is more of a nice bonus for those waiting on the patients. The cafe had several types of cold beverages, hot coffee with flavored coffeemate, hot chocolate chip cookies, and bags of different types of chips. It helped knock the edge off until the patient was released. Bring a jacket with you if you're cold natured. The air is on, and it's notably chilly like all surgery centers. I was fine but my friend and several others were cold. Every surgery center deals with the chilly issue. Darn, those germs!! The staff was helpful, friendly, and attentive with the patients. The ladies at the two desks in the waiting area were taking many additional questions while trying to perform their daily jobs. I rate the transportation services 10 out of 10. Patients who have scheduled evaluation services and cataract surgery can use their transportation services. There is no need to ask a family member or friend to miss work all day. You can be picked up at home, hotel, or work, and brought to the Keystone office for elevation, then picked up again, taken for surgery downtown, and then driven home afterward. You do not need to call each time you need tranported as the office staff calls immediately after your appointment. However, you need to make the initial call. This must be scheduled prior to your appointment. Well planned work schedules help the drivers seem to run seamlessly with spotless interiors and exterior of their well-marked company vans, their extremely organized, safe drivers, and attentive to each patient. Each patient can transport one friend or family member with them in the van. The 2 transportation drivers I met today were delightful. Polite, professional, sympathetic, and so personable. Each one was totally phenomenal. Where do they find these employees? Again, 10 out of 10. They handle their examinations scheduling with their various offices throughout the Indy area differently than my othomotogologist office and surgery center, but it seems to work for them. Rock on!

I don't want to trust my eyesight to just anybody who advertises a low price. I want the best…read moremedical care there is. I feel my husband and I found this care here. I am so baffled by the negative reviews, this is not where we went. In 2017 my husband had cataract surgery on both eyes with vision correction as an add-on. It was an extremely gentle, caring, relaxed, professional atmosphere throughout the process. The decor is beautiful with works of art and flowers everywhere. As the person who would transport him while he wasn't allowed to drive, I was treated "royally", the lounges are lovely, pleasant, comfortable, accommodating for setting for a few hours. He has never had one problem from beginning to present. They work quickly and efficiently and do move a great number of patients through quickly but you never feel rushed nor like you're just a number. I was thrilled to go here a few months ago for my cataract surgeries and vision correction. Ditto to everything I said above. The service is very efficient and quick, there is no waiting around to move through the process of exams to surgery. I felt I got good counsel and advice about which vision correction to choose as an add-on. When I got to the surgery reception area desk, maybe the most anxious point in the visit, I was met by the most vibrant, enthusiastic, caring person I have ever encountered in medical care. It was such a relaxing welcome to the anxiety of you-are-going-to-have-eye-surgery-in-a-few-minutes. Surgery prep was considerate, gentle, efficient and thorough. The only sour note is that some people insert an iv needle better than others everywhere you go--I'm a good judge of an expert, professional phlebotomist.

My pledge to commit to that philosophy is even more serious in the instance when I received my first exam from the optical professionals at Whitson Vision, with locations on East 86th Street in Indianapolis and at IU West Hospital in Avon (in addition to surgical facilities at 9002 N. Meridian Street in Indy). I recently completed my first appointment with Dr. Doore, an Optometrist who, along with several others, ran a series of tests to ensure that my Type 2 Diabetes was not causing any severe issues with my sight. Each and every individual displayed the finest measure of kindness, compassion and a commitment to concise and easily understandable, plain English doctor-patient communication. This was not my first experience with the Whitson Workforce! My domestic partner has experienced a decades- long case of chronic glaucoma and has benefitted from Dr. Whitson's direct surgical expertise, including two significant procedures that seem to have turned out...well, to be succinct, brilliant! Doctors and patients seem unanimous in their opinions that Dr. Whitson is the "go-to" opthalmologist when no one else can fix a difficult eye problem. I am more than pleased to report that, thanks to his work with my partner and now with me, William Whitson, MD continues to foster that same reputation with our household! I recommend his services enthusiastically.

I've seen a few of them, and much like regular MDs, there are good and bad ones. I chose to go to Speedway Family Physicians because it is near where I work and I could quickly run over there for a lunch time appointment if I needed to be seen. The office is right on Main Street in Speedway, it's an older building, the facility itself does seem in need of an update, a lot of the equipment (scales, the stuff you normally see in an examination room) seems a tad old. The office staff is efficient and mostly polite, some are friendly but it is hit or miss. They seem very busy, and sometimes can act a little put out when you talk to them. It is also kind of weird that even though they are open until 7pm, they stop answering the phones at 4:30. Oh and they do not answer the phones at lunchtime either. The office usually runs late on the appointments, but I've never waited more than a half hour past my appointment time. My main issue with SFP is that it seems to be the training grounds for family practice residents. That's great, these people need a place to learn what they are doing! My problem with this is that when you make an appointment, they do not tell you you are seeing a resident. If you are like me, you only go to see a doctor a couple times a year, so just as you are getting familiar and comfortable with the person treating you, they finish their residency and are gone, so then you are assigned someone new, and have to start the process all over again with a new doctor - explaining your situation, history, what the other doctor was doing to treat you...that was totally frustrating. There are permanent doctors in the practice, however I do not know if they accept new patients. On a positive note, I really liked the second resident I was assigned to and since she stayed in Indy once she was done with her residency, followed her over to her new practice.

You would wonder if these doctors even care about my time. And it cost how much? So after 91 minutes the doctor come for around 8 minutes total time. Guess to the medical field it means check the patients lungs and send them away. Guess I'm healthy since my lungs sound okay. So you ask yourself why did I give this place one star. Well I had to pick at least one. I think Community Health owes me for my lost time and the lack of service. Dissatisfied patient Tom
