About eight months later, and I finally get around to writing this review. Scott Construction did an outstanding job on my detached ADU. I hired him for the framing, and he delivered when he said he would at a reasonable price. In 2019, we decided to build the detached ADU for my mother-in-law who needed a place to stay (and preferably not in the house). I got the permits and hired the various contractors, and I was most pleased with Kerry Scott and his crew. He said "work done right" and there were no issues, in fact he got the work done better than I expected. The only regret I have is that I didn't hire him a few weeks sooner. I had my concrete contractor (who also did a fantastic job on the concrete work) do the foundation. Only problem was that we didn't get the anchor bolts in the right place. Completely nonplussed (or so he appeared to me), he suggested how to move a couple of windows around and still have a beautiful place. Thank you Kerry. read more

I have use Scott Construction several times over the years for work at both my personal residence and my rental house. Each of the experiences have been positive and I have been happy with the results. The largest project on my residence was a bathroom remodel, I am very happy with the final product, his crew did a great job. When working on my rental property there was extensive work to be done, plumbing, window replacement, mold remediation and kitchen and bath repairs and remodeling. Whenever the unknown was brought to my attention Kerry explained the problem, gave me two options of how to correct the issue, both being appropriate to the problem but the cost was different. My response was usually 'if this was your house what would you do?' Sometimes Kerry chose the lesser expensive and other times the higher. I believe that he was fair and honest in his pricing and approach to each job. I would definitely hire Scott Construction again. read more

I highly recommend Scott Construction. We were doing a kitchen remodel and had several contractors come and do bids. Kerry was the only one willing to take the time to work with our budget, and I felt that I was getting a fair price for the work. With other contractors, I was left wondering, what the heck am I paying these guys for? Additionally, Kerry was willing to make proper deductions from the bid when I volunteered my wife and I to do some of the work (i.e. demo, painting, flooring.) The final product is exactly what we wanted. I had an image in my mind of a clean, modern look that would also resemble the original mid-century feel of our home, and Kerry came through. I had all of the products selected, most already sitting in my garage, so I cannot speak to Kerry's design skills. One huge bonus, we never had random workers in our home. It was always the same few guys, and most days Kerry was with them. They are funny, and importantly, not creepy, and my dogs liked them too. read more

We hired Scott Construction to do a master bath remodel. Overall I would definitely not recommend them but I'll lay out the pros and cons so you can make up your own mind. ___PROS___ Results -- Overall I'm very happy with how the bathroom turned out. That said, the process of getting it there was far too painful. I worked closely with Kerry, the owner, and I'd never want to put myself through that headache again. If my wife and I hadn't been on top of the project, making sure everything was going the way we wanted, the result would have been really disappointing. Initial Bid Price -- Compared to one other bid we got, my sense is that Kerry goes pretty low on his bids. Just be careful to write EVERYTHING into the contract. We were too lax about the included materials and details and ended up having a lot of add on expenses as we went. ___CONS___ Making things right -- There were several occasions where something went awry and it was like pulling teeth to get Kerry to make it right. Often I had to throw more money in to fix things that were not our fault. Example: Kerry got the wrong tile for shower walls (right series but wrong finish) and we didn't see it until it was all installed. He said it would cost $3k - $5k to redo it, so we just let it go. It looks ok but it's not what we wanted. Taste -- We didn't use a designer and Kerry was pretty involved in the design process. This would have been a good thing except for the fact that he's got... well, different taste than ours. Any decision he made when we weren't there was invariably not the right decision. At least, not right for us. Example: he tried to convince us that we had to do Schluter strips all around our shower bench. When the guys showed up to do the tile I asked them if we could go without; they said we could. Thank goodness we were there and I happened to ask. It looks sooooo much better than it would have with the metal strips along all the edges. Craftsmanship -- Much of the work was done very well, but there are some details that still bug me even a few months later. Example: one part of the shower bench is sloped slightly back toward the wall, so water just stays there until you squeegee it off. Trust -- Kerry has a somewhat slick "sales-guy" style so I never knew if he was being straight up with me or if he was trying to convince me of something to make things easier / faster for them. Professionalism -- Despite all this, I was considering using Scott Construction for another project. Why?! Because they gave me a really cheap quote and it was a closet so I figured there wouldn't be a lot to mess up in terms of design. Kerry stalled and stalled, then eventually revised his bid to be DOUBLE his original quote. So now we're using different contractor whose bid was very close to Kerry's second (higher) bid, and the experience working with them is wonderful. There are some professional and high quality contractors out there! Scott Construction just isn't one of them. read more

We were initially confused about how to go about remodeling our house. Kerry from Scott Construction talked us through all the options . We are really happy that we went with these guys . They did an awesome job on our kitchen and house remodel. They were always willing to find solutions and make us happy. Also , they were always on time and cleaned up after themselves every day, which can be a rare thing in the building industry !! read more

Kerry Scott's slogan is "Work Done Right." And that's why I went back to him to remodel my bathroom after his first project, building a large deck and cutting in some new doors. He's neither the most expensive nor the cheapest. But, as they say, "cheap can be expensive" in the long run, if it's not done right in the beginning. His crew is great -- professional and friendly -- and they try to keep the areas clean and 'sane' during the remodel process. I highly recommend Scott Construction. read more

Hard to review on workmanship when there's no communication. Had a phone conversation and was asked to text my address and time availability for a quote which I did. Almost 4 hours later I still had not had correspondence back, so I followed up with a reminder on what the job was, still no communication back. Left me assuming the job was too small for his interest? I would have been happy for him to have told me this in the first place. read more

Kerry and his crew are fantastic! It was clear that everyone, including his subcontractors, take pride in their work. I would give them more than 5 stars if I could. We hired Scott Construction to do an extensive renovation earlier this year (re-did 2 bathrooms and combined 2 small rooms on our lower level to create a new, larger rec/guest room). Kerry was a great help at every step along the way, making suggestions to optimize use of our space that made sense, both practically and financially. I especially appreciated his team's consistency and dependability since I was near 9 months pregnant and planning on a home birth when our rehab loan was finalized - a month later than expected. Despite the time crunch, their work was excellent and they managed to finish the main living space upstairs before I went into labor. We will definitely hire these guys again in the future. read more

Scott Construction is awesome. Kerry and Chris were so fun to work with. They were there exactly when they said they would be. They were professional but also fun to have around. It was like having life long friends do the work for us. The electrical work they did is amazing. One of the things I really liked was they were very clean. They made sure not to leave a big mess. My mother -in-law unit needed work. We got bids for a bathroom revamp and some painting - the quotes were similar but Kerry seemed to click. The scope of the work expanded to include two new windows and a modern gas heater to replace my mother in law's badly placed upstairs unit. We were very happy with the work - it was timely and professional, the crew were good visitors, and all was clean and right at the end. read more
