I'd be lying if I said I didn't drive 45 minutes to Nyack specifically to visit this cheese shop because of a video I saw on social media, but I absolutely did & it was a great decision. Scott & Joe is coined "the gayest cheese shop in America" & while I haven't surveyed all of the other cheese shops in America, I agree. It's a quaint little shop tucked amongst other small shops on Broadway. Scott is behind the fully stocked cheese case serving & SERVING with a smile. He was patient while we perused the case & asked questions. We sampled some cheeses to figure out what we like & what we didn't & ended up leaving with some yummy treats. Scott & Joe also have a little bit of a marketplace with delicious options of cured meats, crackers, jams, jellies, mustards & the like: perfect for any dinner party or snack plate. In my opinion, the best part is a not so secret little bistro section in the back where you can have a seat & be served some of the most delicious sandwiches, salads, & cheeseboards in the Hudson Valley. I got the Ciao Bella this time around, but it was hard to choose because I wanted them all! Everything was so fresh & delicious - I can't wait to return! I always order the southern Italy sandwich and it is sooooo good. This is a local business with very good food from all around the world. If you're ever in Nyack NY, I suggest you give it a try. Scott and Joe is a fantastic addition to downtown Nyack. My first visit was to pick out a cheese to bring to a party. Scott helped me pick something that was both unique but would be appealing to a large group. My other two visits was for lunch. Both times I had the delicious open faced prosciutto and Burrata sandwich. That sandwich is so good that it haunts my dreams. Scott is friendly and fun and really knows his cheese. I stumbled upon Simard & Co. while exploring Nyack for the day with a few friends. It brought me right back to being in Paris, from the cheeses to the fresh artisan bread. The owners made us feel right at home. They were so knowledgeable and happy to give us samples. We ended up sitting down in the cozy dining area and had ourselves a lovely afternoon. As stuffed as I was I still bought cheeses, crackers and bread to take home. If you love cheese and charcuterie this little place is perfect for you! read more

I wish I could give these guys 10 stars as my experience here was phenomenal. I came here with two of my friends after visiting Sleepy Hollow two weeks ago - not only did we have the most delicious meat and cheese board (American cheddar - epic, no joke, delicious and I'm from England), we had pate, and probably one of the nicest red wines I've had in awhile. I took half a pound of the cheddar home it was so good to share with my family. The best part though was the two guys at the shop - I'd go back just to chat with them. As of 12.6.19, this Nyack gem now has a wonderful bistro of wine, cheese and charcuterie-the eclectic selection is well thought out, delicious and sublime. Cow, Sheep & Goat cheeses populate the blackboard menu. Interesting sides include, anchovies, olives, cornichon, and Macon's almonds. Special additions on this day were, wagyu beef, iberico jamon, and parmigiana stratavechio. The charcuterie menu which we didn't take part in featured: prosciutto Di parma, chorizo iberico, acorn fed mon serrano, dodge city salumi nudja and soppressata. We were very excited for a cheese store to open in the area. Our experience, however, was very poor. It took them a long time to recognize us after we walked into the store. They begrudgingly gave us a sample and asked who was paying. The moment someone older than us entered the store, the owner moved us to the side and attended them first. She told one of her employees to not give us any more samples unless we were buying. This was odd since we already had items set aside to purchase. We were discriminated against based on our age. I tell everyone I know to skip this cheese store unless they are middle-aged. We take our business elsewhere. read more

I have a complaint. I am a cheese fan. I really really like the stuff. I eat it every day. On some days, I eat it for every meal. Some of my local go-to lunch spots were closed today because of snow, so I popped in to Simard and Co for a sandwich. Their sandwich menu is limited. They have one sandwich available. It is grilled cheese. Not surprising for a cheese shop, I know. I ordered the grilled cheese after first asking what the cheese choices were today and receiving this response: The sandwich is a mix of our cheddars with sliced tomato and a caramelized-onion jam. Now I know that once you add something other than butter and cheese, the sandwich is technically a "melt" not a "grilled cheese," but that is not my complaint. My complaint is this: I don't think I can order a grilled cheese sandwich anywhere else ever again. This was not only the best grilled cheese sandwich I ever ate, but I think it might have been the best sandwich I ever ate. read more

Not only is the charcuterie show stopping to the point you forget to drink the beautiful Sancerre they have to offer (at a steal of $38 for the bottle), but what will 100% be bringing me and my partner back is the service - Joe is not only very knowledgeable and attentive, he is more importantly so genuine and really cares at providing the best experience for his guests. Had a wonderful experience at this shop. Lisa is a hoot and shared the cheeses she likes so we could try them. Left with two wonderful cheeses -- one we have never had before -- and some delicious bacon marmalade. We are from Westchester and were looking for a nice Cheese and Charcuterie place around us. We have tried some around Westchester and have not been that impressed. So, we were happy to find a cheese shop over in Nyack. Long story short, we found the best cheese and charcuterie shop we have ever been in, and we have been in quite a few!! The staff was so helpful and knowledgeable. They allowed us to try a sample of everything that we wanted to buy and made good recommendations when we described what we like. They also have great baguettes which are hard to find. When we got home we had a wonderful meal that transported us to Europe!! All of the cheeses, sopprasetta, prosciutto were all the best we have had!! I cannot recommend this store enough!! It is a foodie's paradise!
