We joined the very long queue to get this sorted out. The line was practically out the door at this point and moving extremely slowly. I didn't keep track of how long we waited, but with only three tellers working and one in training, it was a long and boring wait. The fact that the bank was closed the previous day could've added to how many people needed to see a teller. When we asked about why we were given only $5 bills when $20 bills were requested, we were told the machine must've run out of $20 bills. If that's the case, the machine should be able to register this and not have this option available.

The front desk staff and greeters are very friendly, courteous and professional - while waiting in line; I overheard their interactions with customers, both in person and over the phone. What impressed me the most was after my transaction, I asked the client service representative if I could speak to the branch manager. She did not hesitate or even ask why! A few minutes later, I met with Rose Figliuzzi. I explained that I have been with TD bank for many years, and I was very impressed with the staff. Rose took the time to speak with me, and appreciated my comments. I always enjoy visiting this branch.

I had the most unfortunate experience at this CIBC branch. Specifically with a teller employee named Christy on Saturday Oct 5th at around 12 in the afternoon. I had taken my grandmother here for a simple withdraw and she was rudely spoken to by Christy. Christy was very unprofessional, condescending and unpleasant to be helped. Even as I stepped in to assist my grandmother, Christy was still very rude. It's not uncommon knowledge that elderly people may have difficulty hearing or understanding, but Christy still put up an impatient and rude service. Her Cantonese speaking "skill" was definitely put to use, but with a very condescending tone. Just because they are elderly, doesn't mean they can't pick up on attitude and rudeness. When confronted after, Christy was defensive and did not even offer a sincere apology. Neither did her manager who decided to stay back and oversea the transaction. Both Christy and her manager were very rude, condescending, unprofessional and extremely unpleasant. If CIBC would like to contact me further about this interaction, feel free to. I will be filing a formal complaint on Christy and this branch.

When you are done at the ATM, it curves. It is difficult to see cars coming behind you as you merge. You also have cement sidewalks all over the place. It feels like you are participating in a driving obstacle course. On a good note, the ATM is always available when I am there. It's in the same plaza as Marshalls and a Canadian Tire gas station. It's on the northeast corner of Highway 7 and Warden Avenue, next to Booster Juice. It's cool that Markham Town Centre has two drive-thrus. The other one is McDonald's. Tonight, I needed to deposit some money. I hit the drive-thru. The option to withdraw money wasn't available. However, depositing money was there. Yay! I like that the ABM is able to detect how much money I want to deposit. It was correct and straightforward. I have only been in the branch to use the ABM once. The ABM area was clean and bright. My experience was great. It was before the pandemic. It's a decent branch to either deposit or withdraw money through an ABM. If you like drive-thrus, try the one here. (15)

There's a Harvey's-Swiss Chalet combo store that I like visiting. Across from these eateries is this Scotiabank branch. It's a couple of doors down from a Starbucks cafe that I also like to visit now and again. This Scotiabank branch does not have a drive-thru, similar to the Starbucks. This branch does have parking spots in front of it with the Scotiabank logo marking each spot. Each logo is attached to a post that allows folks with bikes to chain and lock them up. There are a couple of ABMs on the left when you enter the branch. The area is clean and the ABMs are available 24 hours a day. The branch is closed on Sundays. Its teller hours are similar to other Scotiabank branches. It's open from 9:30 am Monday through Saturday. It closes at 5 pm from Monday through Wednesday. It stays open an extra hour on Thursdays and Fridays. On Saturday, it closes at 4 pm. I have never needed any teller services. I tend to hit the ABM to either deposit or withdraw money. It's a nice branch to visit. I have never had any issues with the ABM or parking. (366)

For my 100th review, I decided to highlight a bank branch. We came here two years ago to inquire…read moreabout a mortgage, and found the bank officers to be very knowledgeable and helpful. First of all, they helped us obtain a very competitive rate, much better than the rates at other banks. Since I'm an American, it was much more work since I didn't have Canadian credit history, but they were willing to cover the cost of requesting a US credit report. They were also willing to reduce the holding period for US currency transferred in. The bankers that we worked with were always on top of things and were very accommodating. Not everything was smooth sailing, though. One time they lost a bank draft, but were very apologetic and expedited a replacement bank draft. As our mortgage renewal is coming up, Scotiabank was not able to give us as competitive a rate as before, so we'll have to move on. But the bank officer, again, was helpful in answering our questions about how to maximize our payments without penalty. He even asked us to notify him when there are 3 bi-weekly payments in a month because their mortgage payment systems don't properly handle more than 4 payments a month (we decided to start matching our payments). So kudos to the bank officers at this Scotiabank branch for being knowledgeable, customer-centric, and very accommodating. It truly changes the way I perceive banks. Note: All 5 major Canadian banks can be found at this plaza, so shop around!

I was happy. Roughly four years ago, I took out a loan to consolidate my debt. That process was messy both over the phone and at this branch. As an example, I explicitly said that I didn't want insurance on this loan. I spoke to a loan representative at this branch. Sure enough, the insurance was slapped on and he couldn't remove it from the system. Luckily, I don't need to go to this branch to deal with people these days. When I do visit, it tends to be to use the ATM. The branch is clean. I like that there is a trash bin where the ATMs are. It's helpful, as this plaza doesn't seem to have any garbage bins! The parking lot does get crazy these days. I parked as far back from the bank on a Friday evening. At least I got a decent walk in. Staff are friendly at this branch. There is a waiting area with comfy couches. The teller area does get busy, so expect a wait if you need to speak to a human being. (88)
