We always get Scoot's to go, just because it's easier for us and the kids. I've gotten the smoked turkey, which was pretty good, and the shredded pork which was ok, but a little dry. Wow! Scoot's bbq is simply delicious! I love the atmosphere in this quaint little restaurant. You choose your food from a blackboard menu and place your order at the cashiers station. She/he gives you a number for eat in and your drink cups. You fill your own drinks, pick your own condiments, tableware and napkins and choose your table. When your food is ready they deliver it to your table. This is where you're about to enjoy the best part. The bbq is amazing. It comes tossed in sauce or plain and you have options on how much and what type of sauces you want to add to the bbq. My favorite is their house sauce. Decided to try the flounder special and glad I did. Fresh, lightly breaded and fried. Great portion size, very moist and flavorful. The coleslaw was creamy and tasty. The sweet potato fries were so good, could have made a meal just with them. My wife tried the brisket burger...thick juicy burger patty topped with their moist and tender brisket. My sister-in-law and family were in town and we opted to try someplace new with great reviews. We all decided on BBQ and drove on over not knowing what to expect. When we arrived, the restaurant was fairly empty and were first in line to order our foods. (You place your order at the front and then they bring your food to your table). The restaurant quickly became busy after we all sat down, which is always a good sign for good food. And we were not disappointed. The onion rings were really good, the sweet potato fries were yummy- sweet. The mashed potatoes were definitely homemade because the potatoes were not all mashed ( 1/2 inch chunks of potato) and not very flavorful and not very warm. The burnt ends were very flavorful and tender and the brisket was very tender with good flavor. BBQ here is great and would recommend. However we didn't get our corn muffins that we're supposed to come with the meal. We came here on a Tuesday night and we're the only people there, which isn't an issue, but the employees had food from other restaurants and we're eating it at the table which seems pretty unprofessional. Weekend service is probably much different since we went on slow weeknight, but I'd expect a little better. Overall great BBQ though, had the platter of brisket, chicken, and pulled pork. Good but Not Great Since I had not been to Scoot's since early last year, I decided to go the other day for a late lunch/early dinner. It was a great time because they were not very busy so my wait was minimal. I ordered the Scoot's combo which consists of a bbq sandwich, coleslaw, a side, and a drink; I chose sweet potato fries as my side. The sweet potato waffle fries and coleslaw were both fine but the bbq tasted different. It was not like the pulled pork that I had there in the past. We were heading back to my girlfriend's in Alexandria from Virginia Beach and decided route 17 would have less traffic than I-95 and more food choices. We were right! After being indecisive for a few minutes (because we wanted to try a few things on the menu) the lady at the register recommended the specials, we chose the Texas BBQ Platter(I think that's what it's called) it includes, ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket and a corn muffin I also ordered the crab cake dinner platter which includes two crab cakes instead of one for the lunch and a corn muffin.
