I had really mediocre ice cream here. I only came here because my sister and I were desperate for a Sundae. We ordered a smores sundae, expecting a soft warm brownie, with gooey fudge. But, all we got was a rockhard, cold brownie, with some watery ice cream on top. The fudge was more like warm chocolate syrup. Even the marshmallows were hard. The quantity they give is quite a lot, but the quality is highly compromised. I won't be coming back here again, in my opinion it's a waste of money. Unless you're truly, truly desperate, don't waste your time or money coming here. My reviews are always based on finding the best places that fit into a specific category. I have reviewed multiple ice cream places and I will be referencing those other ice cream places in the Philadelphia area and giving recommendations to avoid bad quality so you don't have to waste your time and money. If you look at the picture, that is technically a "medium" and the price was 10 dollars total for the chocolate dipped cone. This was called the PB cookie crunch. Order a similar thing at Van Leeuwen (PB Brownie) and you will have twice the ice cream, and 5 times the quality. They are trying to sell "interesting" flavors, which van leeuwen simply is better at. They handed me a puddle in a cone and the experience was more stressful then enjoyable. I had to frantically swallow it whole to avoid it getting everywhere. The flavor was also extremely bland and was basically like a tub of super market Breyers left out half melted. I heard from locals that this was a great place. If you have the feintest idea of what ice cream should be, you would know what a waste of money this is. If you want an incredible waffle cone with premium innovative flavors, go to Van Leeuwen. If you want simplicity and a delightful experience go to Gran Cafe La'Aquila for gelato. If you want the best soft serve in center city 1-900-ICE-CREAM is the way to go. What makes them even more criminal is the fact that they don't let you try any of their flavors. How could you do that when all of your competitors allow you to try flavors? In conclusion... I am bloated, sticky and sad. I posted a screenshot of the owners comment I will be responding to. This is by far the worst ice cream i have ever had, no people did not throw the ice cream at me. It gets a 1 star mainly on the quality of the ice cream. I got an ice cream cake around that time which was over priced but meh. Not enough to bump you up. Other than that I have lived in the area for two years and have never been back. I am about to move and wanted to try one more time to give your place the benefit of the doubt...and was even more disappointed the second (yes only second) time. The ice cream that was served to me was a bland puddle. In my review I mentioned multiple other local ice cream locations which I HAVE frequented in my time here...not just Van Leeuwen. Pretty much any other ice cream location in Philly is better. They have premade mixed flavors, but you can also choose to create your own mix. I have tried so many different flavors - my favorites are definitely the Oreo mudslide and the strawberry shortcake. The icecream is rich, creamy, and perfectly blended. The have cup sizes ranging from small to large. The small is definitely enough for a treat! Medium usually lasts me two servings. Randomly looked for desserts in Center City one Friday night and came across this amazing place. When you first walk in, you're a little overwhelmed by all the options. A great place to visit with your discount on Yelp! When you check-in you get a 1 size upgrade on a blend which means that you can get a medium size for the price of a small. This is such great deal because a medium is the perfect size. I would defiantly recommend using this perk! I had a wonderful time at Scoop Deville with a bunch of friends. We pretty much had the whole place to ourselves on a lazy Saturday afternoon. There were also quite a few choices of ways to get the ice cream served: Mixed in and soft serve, sundae style, shakes & smoothies, and so on. I opted for the brownie ice cream sundae which included 2 different flavors of ice cream and 3 toppings. I chose Coffee ice cream and Moose Tracks ice cream, but I had a tough time choosing which toppings but finally decided on rice crispy treats, strawberries, and marshmallow cream. The lady at the counter was not that accommodating or friendly. She started scooping in the ice cream when I asked her if she could serve mine mix-in style, to which she responded that she already started making it so she couldn't- Which I didn't quite understand. Then I noticed when it was time for the rice crispy treats to be added, the lady was putting in loose Rice Crispies cereal, which was definitely not what I wanted. When I see rice crispy treats on the menu, I expect that they are the actual rice crispy treats held together with marshmallow and not just cereal itself. So, she made me a new sundae but didn't seem to recall that I had asked earlier if I could have the toppings mixed in and didn't even ask if that is what I wanted before she started. I just let it slide and to replace the rice crispies, I asked for the peanut butter cookie dough bits. After all of that, I was absolutely satisfied with this delectable concoction of quality ice cream and delicious add-ins. There was more Coffee ice cream than Moose Tracks ice cream. The Coffee ice cream was smooth, creamy and the flavor was wonderful! Moose Tracks was also pretty good with the great taste of chocolate and peanut butter mixed in. The strawberries were fresh and refreshing; the peanut butter cookie dough was very peanut-buttery and delightful and the sweet marshmallow cream covered everything! In addition to all that, there was a rich, chewy, warm chocolatey brownie underneath. It was amazing and oh so tasty! All of that was $7 and I even got a free cookie with my Yelp check in! I would definitely come back, however with this caveat: This was definitely sugar overload so not something to get too often but as a special treat. read more

This is one of my favorite places ever to get dessert. They have one of those way too rarely seen machines that blends the ice cream with mix-ins to create a homogeneous mixture that is almost completely smooth but still has all of the identifiable tastes of the individual ingredients. To give you an example, my favorite is one of the many suggested sundae combos, the PB Cookie Crunch: Cookies & Cream ice cream, chocolate chip cookie dough, peanut butter and Cap'n Crunch cereal ($5.50 for a small, which is plenty large). This genius combo is even better when completely blended together, as they do here. No need to worry about cutting your gums on that Cap'n Crunch - it is ground up completely, so you still get that great taste, along with all of those other great flavors in a thick, delicious cup of amazingly satisfying ice cream. I can't emphasize enough how much you need to come here. Forget Franklin Fountain and Bassett's - if you can only pick one place to get some frozen goodness for dessert (which is silly though), then you should come here for a really unique experience and some of the best-tasting dessert around. read more
