The FIRST time I went to Scoop Deville, it was still on Chestnut Street, and I didn't even know Yelp existed. (It did, for anyone doing the math, it just wasn't the giant of the internet that it is today.) And it was pretty good, though I remember coming away with the impression that it was like Coldstone Creamery, but with a fancy drill-like device doing the mixing, leading to a soft ice cream consistency. Fast-forward to this year, and I went back to Scoop Deville, now on Walnut Street. I checked out their happy hour on an unseasonably warm evening in May, because how better to celebrate the end of a ridiculously cold April? The happy hour deal is kind of awesome - any size of a suggested blend sundae for $4. So I split a large with my SO, the Charlie Brown, which is vanilla ice cream with peppermint patties, Nutella, and chocolate chip cookie dough, and hot fudge on top. I can't say I really tasted the Nutella, but overall it was pretty great. My friends got some combos that looked really great too, I have to try the Strawberry shortcake next time, (vanilla ice cream blended with strawberries, basically turning it into strawberry ice cream, with sugar cookie dough, and whipped cream on top), and the PB Cookie Crunch (Cookies And Cream ice creamwith chocolate chip cookie dough, peanut butter, and Cap'n Crunch) looked pretty good too. There will definitely be many a happy hour for me here (whether it's official HH time or not) this summer. read more

I've been to both locations of Scoop Deville, the one in newly reopened Bourse and the one in Midtown and both are so good! I've had lovely experiences both times. The ice cream is really creamy and the flavors are fun and delicious - I love an ice cream place that has more than just the standard chocolate, strawberry, etc. When I was here last time, I had lemon blueberry cheesecake and my usual favorite go-to, blackberry. The interior is really cute, there's a decent amount of seating and the prices are really decent. Especially if you do their "happy hour!" Monday through Friday from 5-7pm, "All suggested blends, $4. any size" is what they were advertising when I was there. It's such a good deal for really excellent quality ice cream (and pretty generous portions I'd say). You can also do ice cream sammies, milkshakes, and take out pints of your favorite flavors to go! There's really something for everyone with a sweet tooth - I highly recommend stopping by. Service is always excellent at both places. Big shoutout to the last time I was there at the Bourse - I tried at least 5 different flavors and I would not have blamed anyone for getting irritated with me, seriously, but the workers are always so kind. This girl has a major sweet tooth, so I'll definitely be back to try other frozen treats and new flavors! This spacious ice cream parlor has several menus, for the different types of sweet treats they offer up. I came in last night for ice cream, picked up a menu, and was a bit taken a back with all of the options. Ice cream eaters pick from one of the simple base flavors, and add in mix-ins from the expansive list, including fruits, candies, cereals, cookie dough, syrups, and other toppings. The employees then mix it all together, allowing your chosen toppings to mix in throughout the dessert. Passover really limited my options on what I could mix in, which made it a lot easier on my first trip there. I had a vanilla base, and mixed in m&ms, coconut, and peanut butter. I know that's the most unlikely trio, but all three are delicious and it was just me eating it so if you're going to judge you can eat your ice cream outside. It takes a little longer to be served your ice cream (but not by much!), but when you're handcrafting your own confection, that's expected. If only I could give them 0 stars.... I placed an order through Grubhub for 8 cookies and 4 brownies. As soon as the delivery guy handed me my order, I smelled something burnt. I opened the styrofoam package, and found that all my cookies were either burnt or very overdone. I called the restaurant, and explained the situation. The person I spoke with explained that she couldn't give me a refund unless I brought the cookies back to the store???! I took the time to use a food delivery service, and they thought it made sense for me to get in my car to bring the cookies to the restaurant despite the fact it was a mistake on their part. I asked to speak with the manager, and was told he was not available. However, she said she would call the manager and get back to me. I received a call back about 5 min later, and was informed that per THE OWNER I was not to receive a refund. Their solution was to take my email address, so that I could be emailed a store credit. Here's the deal. I paid for a product expecting a minimum level of quality. That did not happen. On top of that, the customer service from the employee to the owner was abysmal. That being said, why on earth would I want a store credit?! I will not be patronizing this place ever again. read more

Scoop DeVille isn't your average ice cream place and it's definitely somewhere I think everyone should try at least once. The concept is very interesting. They create flavors as they are ordered by mixing various ingredients. It's really kinda neat!! They have a very extensive menu which you can find copies of at the beginning of the line. Shakes, sundaes and splits. You still may not know what you want by the time it's your turn to order as there are so many tempting options. In addition to the regular menu, they have dairy free, gluten free and calorie conscious options as well as a seasonal menu! I mean, there's really something here for everyone!! Everyone! No excuse not to visit. Our most recent visit was after date night when we both turned to each other at the same moment when we said we wanted dessert and exclaimed "Scoop DeVille". Done deal. He went for one of their signature blends with banana and loved his and I chose the pecan pie from the vegan/gluten free menu. It was dairy free soft serve blended with maple syrup, pecans and sea salt. Love the wholesome ingredients in this one! Also, since I was torn between two blends I asked for one scoop to be made with Oreos and they obliged without issue. It was outrageous!!! You could visit so many times and never taste the same thing. I love that there are both suggestions as well as the opportunity to completely create your very own signature ice cream! How cool!! The place is super cute with lots of cute photo ops! There a 30 minute loading right across the street for an easy in/out. Cool little spot in city, pretty spacious for an ice-cream parlor. There were a lot of items to choose from, ranging from shakes to hot chocolate and of course, ice-cream. We had the flaky ice-cream croissant with butter pecan ice cream and a hot chocolate. The flaky croissant came out first and our ice-cream was nearly melted all the way. I would've forgiven this if the croissant was hot but it was cold. The ice-cream was pretty much a blob of mushy milk at this point. I asked for an extra scoop of ice-cream and the staff was happy to accommodate. Our hot chocolate took awhile and when it finally came out, it was only luke-warm. The chocolate itself was super sweet. We ended up taking it to go but actually couldn't finish because it was too sweet. I wanted to like the place because it had a lot of charms and the staff was very friendly but I can't recommend it. There were very few things that could go wrong, the ice-cream needed to be cold and the hot chocolate needed to be hot. If you like your dessert really sweet then this may be your place but I'll be saving my money for other great ice-cream shops in the city. read more

I love to mix it up and try new creations, and the staff are always helpful in recommending what will pair well together. 2. The menu is HUGE! Seriously they have it all. From flavors to mix ins to dairy free and low calorie options, there is truly something for everyone. 3. It's damn good. I've never had something I haven't liked. I did the strawberry cheesecake blend with dairy free vanilla and o m g was it tasty. Not too sweet, a little tart from the cream cheese, and so refreshing. I've also had true country breakfast-- YUM. Bacon bits, maple, grahams, and butter pecan ice cream. Lastly, their new Cookie Monster flavor is out of this word. I'm pretty sure I've dreamed about their coffee Oreo mudslide ice cream. It's soooo good that I even eat through the brain freeze. Not a huge fan of the brownies and the cakes, both are a little too sweet for my liking. But the coffee Oreo ice cream is a gem! There are over 28 people outside waiting for online orders. So far we've been here for 30 minutes since we ordered via the QR code, bc they were no longer allowing anyone in the store. What's the purpose of a text system that's telling customers when the order is ready, yes the employees say it doesn't mean anything. There is zero logistical efficiency in whatever they are doing. I honestly feel bad for the employees bc they seem to be moving quickly, yet barely anything is making it out the door. Bad systems, and severe lack of process. I know most people out here have already said they won't be back. If you're the owner, I hope you figure it out so we can enjoy the ice cream again. read more

Came here last Sunday around 2pm and there were 2 small groups ahead waiting in line. After waiting for 5 minutes without any progress of the line moving, I asked a girl ahead of me if she had ordered yet or if she was just waiting on her order. She told me that they had not ordered yet nor had the family ahead of her. There were at least 3 workers behind the counter who looked very busy, I'm thinking maybe mobile orders since there weren't many customers inside and none who were inside had ordered yet. So another 5 minutes pass and finally one of the workers starts taking orders. After being in line for 15 minutes we placed our order. I ordered the strawberry cheesecake froyo and my husband got a scoop of the Cookie Monster and chocolate chip. After about 8 minutes they brought out his ice cream. Then 5 minutes later, they brought out mine. So we did not get to enjoy eating our ice cream together unfortunately. I will say the ice cream was delicious! I really liked the cheesecake froyo and my husband loved his Cookie Monster! They put blue dye in it and it made his mouth super vibrantly blue haha! That doesn't bother us, but I do want to put that out as a warning! Our total was about $13, took about 30 minutes, and didn't get to eat it at the same time. I'm not really sure why it took so long, it wasn't due to laziness because I saw the staff working hard behind the counter. I'm guessing it might be a management/poor logistical skill issue causing the slow service. I'll probably try this place again, but it's not going to be top of my list for awhile. read more

If you don't specify that you want it as a topping, they will all get blended together. However, it is not an easy decision because there are SO MANY OPTIONS. Helpful hint - if you flip the menu over, there are recommended combinations on the back. Compared to other ice cream shops, the service and decor is a little lack luster. There's no happy faces and warm greetings of who needs help next. The atmosphere of the place looks a bit old and tired. I feel like I'm in an old factory building - but not in a cool hipster refurbished way. Nonetheless, there was a LONG line and the blended ice cream treat is delicious. This is a really fun, quirky ice cream and dessert place right in the middle of midtown village. It's at 13th and Walnut and is just a short walk off of Broad Street. This was my first time here and I've never been to an ice cream place with so many options! They have every flavor and topping and combination of desserts you could think of. They have at least a half dozen different menus to look at - from a create your own with flavors and toppings to milkshakes and floats. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars is that they are overwhelming and a tad confusing. I loved all the options and different menus, but it was so much to take in and I couldn't easily remember which menu was which and what was on each. Nothing wrong with this style of organization, but it just made it harder for the customer to order and make a decision. Overall, an absolutely wonderful place! This place has such a great concept! They blend your selection of toppings into ice cream. I see it as a way to make-your-own Dairy Queen blizzard. They have some other desserts, like cakes, truffles, and cookies, along with regular hard-pack ice cream and edible cookie dough. I made my own creation, and while it was pretty good, I learned the hard way that you should stick to their suggested menu items. I asked for pretzels, Reese's cups, and peanut butter cookie dough blended into vanilla ice cream, but everything got lost. All the little bits were crushed and mixed in, and I felt it was hard to recognize their flavors. All the froyo mixes I have eaten here were delicious! It's 'blizzard' style and they add a good amount of mix ins without overdoing it. There are also a lot of creations to select from. If you build your own it comes with your choice of 3 mix ins. Only cons -- it's a bit pricey and it really is quite overwhelming.
