Before I explain my bad review, just know that if you hire this guy to install a granite…read morecountertop, he does not have a truck, so you'll have to pay for a Uhaul (which cost me over $400 because of how far he had to drive). On top of that, he has no helpers and will expect you to help him lift a 1000 pound granite slab out of the truck and in to your house. So I hope you're young and hit the gym regularly, otherwise you're screwed. I already was a little turned off by all the effort and money I had to put in myself on top of what I was already paying him (Renting the Uhaul for $400, then returning it, then having to sneak out of work and drive 30 minutes to meet him at my house to help bring this super heavy slab in the kitchen), but I figured as long as he does a good job installing it, I'll be happy. He did do a great job installing it I will say, but he never sealed it nor asked me if I wanted it sealed (I didn't know sealing granite was even a thing which is why I didn't bring it up myself, but apparently most granite installers seal the granite after install to keep it protected). I ended up ruining it with Apple Cider Vinegar just a couple days later (which most likely wouldn't have happened if it was sealed). I asked him why he didn't offer sealing it and he said that most installers don't do that because the pre-fab slabs should already come sealed and that it's the granite company's fault for not sealing it. I didn't want to play the blame game and at the end of the day, I was the idiot for getting ACV on it, so I just took the blame and the loss and told him to please just install another one. Ended up spending another total of $2500 on another slab plus install. He sealed it and then immediately covered it with tape and paper because I was having the house remodeled and didn't want dust getting on it. Once I removed the paper, the slab he bought looked HORRIBLE. Dull smudgy marks literally everywhere. I don't recall it looking like that when he brought it to my home, but I only looked at it for a second before going to work and then paid my tenant to help him bring it in the house since I couldn't leave work. When I told him about it, he had no answer for how this could have happened but assured me he could fix it with sealer that's meant for black countertops. He applied it and texted me that it fixed the whole problem. When I came home to see it, it looked exactly the same. I was super annoyed but trying my hardest to stay calm about it. He told me maybe he could try buffing it but wasn't sure if that would fix it and started complaining about how the buffing pad costs $85 though. I told I would pay for the pad. Then he told me the place he thought would have it didn't have it. At this point, I had a granite restoration company look at it and they told me he may have ruined it by covering it with paper right after sealing it instead of letting the sealer cure for 24-48 hours. When I presented their theory to him, he told me they don't know what they are talking about and that I should not be getting opinions from a granite repair and restoration (when literally what I need is granite repair and restoration to be done smh). Then when I told him I just don't know who to believe and am just really frustrated and want this fixed, he told me I was being disrespectful for questioning his knowledge about granite. I told him that at the end of the day, whether he caused this or whether the slab has always looked like this, this falls on him because I trusted him to buy me a slab that was brand new and looked brand new and those are literally the only two options of how this could have happened. Either it looked like this when he bought or he ruined it himself. There's no other possibility for how this could have happened nor could he even give me another possibility, yet he still refused to take any accountability and was just deflecting, being manipulative, and gas lighting me. Even had the audacity to tell him he did so much stuff for free and that I was super unappreciative. When I asked for one example of what he did for free, he just listed everything he did that was already part of the quote he gave me lmao. Didn't care at all that I've now spent over $5000 and still ended up with a horrible looking countertop. All he cared about was how me putting the blame on him was making HIM feel. He kept saying he would take care of it, but wouldn't tell me how when I kept asking what the plan is if buffing it doesn't work. Then he eventually just ignored all my messages. At the end of the day, the guy does decent work, but is definitely not professional and if any mistakes are to occur, he refuses to take accountability for them. I now have to look elsewhere to get his mistake fixed and spend a bunch of more money.

The installer, Tobbie, was incredibly efficient (!), friendly and supportive in helping me decide on some of the small nuances of a new installation. They were back to install the new countertop in a few days which was a *big delight. The only feedback I have for the company is for the scheduler, owner and contractor to all get on the same page about timeline - the scheduler kept saying 1.5-2 weeks, everyone else said a couple days. I was glad they came back within a couple days but knowing a more appropriate timeline would've helped me manage my work (and other responsibilities) in a more grounded way. I highly recommend working with this company!

Top quality business all the way. I am so very grateful to have found them - and so glad I didn't go with another counter place (whose bid was twice as much) or the cheap laminate counters that I almost installed. My only regret is that I didn't take better photos. Bay Countertops has my highest recommendation - we'll be going back to them with another project soon.

After a quick Yelp search, we came across Elite Custom Cabinetry and Fidel was able to see what was already done and listened to what I wanted to do. He quickly understood what was needed, listened for any design input, even provided some options with regards to trim styles to be installed in between each bookcase. On the day of installation, just a few hours went by and the crown molding, various pieces of trim, and nearly perfectly matching baseboards were installed. Lots of little bits here and there were considered to truely give the appearance of a built-in library. The work was perfect, especially given where the starting line was. When the work was done, their clean up was so good, not a piece of dust was left behind. On top of everything, pricing was very reasonable. For the work that was done, the cost was very fair. I would not hesitate recommending this company to anyone looking to complete a bookshelf/library project. I am sure they do other types of work but as far as libraries go, nothing but fantastic work.

We hired a general contractor and agreed to use all of their selected subcontractors except for a small subset we insisted on selecting ourselves, including Custom Stone. Custom Stone came highly recommended by multiple stone suppliers and other fabricators in the Bay Area. The scope of our stone installation was large and it was critically important that we select a fabricator who had experience with higher-end homes and highest-quality installations. Our scope included a master bathroom consisting of a double vanity, an 8' tall all-slab master shower and an undermounted roman master bathtub; a large kitchen with multiple stone surfaces including a 12' x 9' island; two guest bathrooms with marble slab vanities; a guest bathroom all-slab shower; an all-slab marble surround and hearth for a 42" fireplace; a custom designed and constructed semi-precious slab backlit bar; and an outdoor BBQ counter with Neolith. At the outset of the project, Custom Stone joined us during trips to various stone yards, advised us on the considerations of different materials, and helped us to obtain the most competitive pricing with their relationships. During the fabrication process, Custom Stone sent us multiple detailed design mock-ups and welcomed us to participate in the process. They recently invested in state-of-the-art fabrication equipment and technology that enables Contractors and Owners to see exactly what output they can expect, and to efficiently and flexibly provide input into the design and configuration decisions. For example, their new 3-D Laser measuring system and real-time digital vein-matching software allowed us to approve our slab layout before the fabrication started. Custom Stone's CNC waterjet cutting machine enabled exceptionally precise cuts on the material that we didn't find possible with other fabrication firms, allowing Custom Stone to produce the highest-quality end products for our project. Custom Stone's work is uncontestably one of the highlights of the new home and has significantly enhanced its aesthetic and value. We cannot speak highly enough of their work and the process of working with them. They worked and collaborated well with other trades/subcontractors, offered up creative solutions and demonstrated an unwavering commitment to quality. When we were selecting our stone subcontractor, we considered five (5) criteria in the following stack-ranked order: (1) precision in design and craftsmanship, and attention to detail; (2) knowledge of products/materials; (3) design skill in assembling pieces to create contiguous and less visible seams; (4) use of current technology and tools; and (5) reliable and on schedule. Custom Stone achieved the highest marks across all five criteria. We would certainly recommend and hire them again for whatever scope project we consider in the future.
