Scituate Caseworks is a disaster. They were contracted through Traemand to install my Ikea cabinets. The contract called for the installation to take place between May 29 and June 1. When Linda Bate from Scituate finally called to give me the date for the installation that date was June 2, one day past the contracted date. My kitchen is small and she as much as told me that I was being tucked in between bigger jobs. This was for a kitchen on the lower Cape and we live in Somerville so it meant going to the Cape on June 1 in order to be there at the promised time, 7:00 am on June 2. On June 1, when we were already on the Cape, in a home with boxes all over the place and no kitchen, we received a call from Traemand in Colorado inquiring whether we were satisfied with the installation. I told them that it had not even been done yet but that it was scheduled for the next day. The Traemand person promised to call me back. When I had not heard from them by 4:00 pm I called them and they said they had not been able to reach Linda. Shortly after someone from Traemand called me to let me know that I would hear from Linda by 6:30 that evening. She did call me to let me know that they were not coming the next day. Nor were they coming on Saturday, nor even on Monday. In fact she would not give me a new date for the installation. My partner and I, who are very busy realtors in the midst of our peak season, took two days off in order to be there in time for the installers. We had to take all our meals in restaurants. I did not learn until the evening before they were scheduled that they were not coming and I wonder if she even would have bothered to call me if I had not called Traemand.. It cost me money in terms of lost earnings and the cost of coming down to the Cape--we were there ONLY to have the cabinets installed--and considerable stress and aggravation. The reason for the delay, she explained, is that other clients' jobs had taken longer because although they said they did their inventory it turned out that they had not. Well, I did do my inventory--I spent hours doing it--and don't see why I should have been penalized for the incompetence of others. When I told Linda that she responded that she could not pull her workers off a job to come to mine because those people have contracts. Well, I had a contract too and it says that the work will begin on May 29 and be completed by June 1. Neither happened. I should point out that Traemand is not entirely in the clear on this. My contract was with them, not with Scituate, and they obviously do not stay on top of their projects. Just the other day I received a request for an evaluation of the work that had been done--so the person who sent it did not even know that the work had never been done. When it was clear that we would never have a kitchen if we waited for Traemand and Scituate to honor the contract I called my trusty Somerville carpenter who actually gave up his weekend to go to the Cape and install my kitchen. I have not yet received his bill but I'm sure it will be much higher than the price contracted with Traemand. They have told me to let them know once I have the final bill and we'll see if they make good on their commitment to compensate me for additional costs. read more

Oh, for the love of God, please do NOT use these people! They tore out my sink and oven and left me for 12 DAYS with no way to cook or clean, and no returned phone calls ... finally I hear from their project manager that there was a death in her family. Sad but so...? What kind of business leaves a customer for 12 days without a way to cook or wash? They failed to seal the sink, after I expressly told them to b/c the last installer didn't and that's why the first counter was ruined. I just noticed the counter is starting to bubble! They bent and thus damaged the door to my dishwasher and refused to respond when I wrote to the owner. They failed to waterproof the enclosed area of the dishwasher, and also failed to put the required reflector on top of the washer to curb moisture build up ... per provided IKEA strip. They freakin' failed to secure the dishwasher (there was a flooring issue but they didn't say anything to me, ask me what to do, etc.) and instead, drilled HOLES through the inside of my dishwasher to secure the DW to the cabinets. Worse than that? They failed to secure the countertop separately to the wall, so when I pulled out the damaged dishwasher, not noticing that there was nothing to secure the counter to the wall, and leaving the dish drainer on top, the whole counter collapsed under the weight, breaking all the grout I'd just carefully added. Even using a car jack, I can't get the counter back to a tight seal against the new grout! The people installing the faucet drilled holes too close to the sink edge, and I caught it just in time; you can't wash or dry there, and it'll get scummy if too close. They could move it back a little, but not enough. Soap scum and other debris collects in there and it's a nightmare. They installed a tall cabinet separate from the other group. It's not flush with the wall, and they put in shims to keep it up. It's not secured to the wall, or anything. My dishwasher was destroyed, warranty voided; I had to buy a new one and no one at Scituate would return my calls about it. The whole project is ruined and it was costly. Going back to the beginning, I gave a figure that I could afford. I was told no problem, despite the tricky situation I was facing. They return with a figure $5,000 more than I could pay. I had to stop the job for a long time, not knowing what to do. There was a compromise but it still cost $3K more than it was supposed to!! I've been sick over this project for over a year, but it was only recently that I discovered the counter anchoring disaster and failure to seal the sink. A double disaster. Everything they touched was unprofessional and poorly executed. There's more. But I'm getting upset at telling the tale. read more

Using Scituate Caseworks as a sub of Traemand (IKEA's Subcontractor for kitchen installations) is a huge error, DO NOT DO IT. TRAEMAND subs all their work in MA to Scituate Caseworks and I can only imagine no difference if it is work they get through IKEA/TRAEMAND or on their own. This kitchen project with Scituate Caseworks is not over and has hardly been smooth. The plumber did not show up on day 1 and was fired (per my demand). You cannot demolish a kitchen without the plumbing disconnected and capped. I had to suggest replacement plumbers I used to renovate my bathroom during my major renovation last y ear and they arrived and things started up again. A thousand thumbs up for Crown Plumbing. Scituate appears to subcontract and project manage their subcontractors (this is forbidden by TRAEMAND and IKEA). You even pay TRAEMAND for that project manager, in my case an employee of their subcontractor Scituate Caseworks. That PM does very little and when problems started arising and stalling the project, such as not scheduling an inspection with the city and then they lie to you about inspectors switching districts when the inspector now is the same inspector who did my home renovation last year. Hmmmm, really?!?! Too many parts, wrong size cabinets in design that don't fit, returns, refunds (well I've yet to see all those), change work orders to the installers needed and prices going up because they failed to include the design elements in the project scope. Which boggles my mind. Calling Traemand to complain resulted in them forwarding my private voice mail and request for a call back from their Regional Manager to the Project Manager. Today I spoke with that TRAEMAND Regional Manager and she was rude and asked me to email her instead. I told her I thought forwarding my voice mail and failing to return my call was unprofessional. Just today, I emailed and guess what - the Scituate PM says she was there with the Regional Manager from Treamand who appears to have shared my private email with the project manager. Scituate Caseworks is not interested in solving problems they create, they leave it to you and their subcontractors. You get to be the PM that you paid for? When I called Traemand HQ in CO they said none of their subcontractors are allowed to subcontract the work out to other subs. Looks like that rule was broken in my case. They also DO NOT clean up after their mess and leave all the dust and abrasive debris (large wood particles, nails, screws) they make in the installation behind. I cannot wait to see my brand new hardwood floors after the dust is off them and the damage I cannot see right now. This is not my experience with any contractor ever and I just went through a big home renovation project that didn't include the kitchen. The contractors take away their mess and vacuum and dust before they leave. That big home reno project included custom wood work, painting, new flooring... All damaged from the kitchen they installed all the way to the front door. DO NOT USE SITUATE CASEWORTHLESS! DO NOT USE TRAEMAND. If you buy a kitchen at IKEA find your own reputable designer and contractor. TRAEMAND could give a fck about you once you have made your purchase. That said, the subcontractors who did the install, did good work - 4.5 stars. They made a mess and are only responsible for some of the damage to my home (like filthy handprints on my walls). The trash haulers that Scituate Caseworks used to get rid of all the boxes, scrap metal and PVC from the plumbers and the others that removed the appliances that I was getting rid of, like my old oven were like bulls in a china shop and left their marks everywhere, including the common area staircase in my condo building. Traemand and Scituate Caseworks get 1 star, and that is generous. UPDATE: I had to return and purchase all sorts of items that were over ordered or had to be returned because Scituate Caseworks design was so flawed there were excess or missing items. So I returned to IKEA Stoughton to get a refund. This is actually the Scituate Caseworks Project Manager's job. I lucked out and I got an extremely sympathetic ear and someone from store management is escalating. They recalled the name of the company and the PM employee and Scituate Caseworks owner. Quote from the IKEA manager, TRAEMAND and their Subcontractors like Scituate Caseworks ultimately represent IKEA and your experience is not something IKEA wants, we expect the same high standards as IKEA has from TRAEMAND and Scituate Caseworks. Yay for IKEA! Boo for TRAEMAND and Scituate Caseworks. They have failed to respond to calls, emails, text messages to resolve the problems. Its the weekend now so they don't care, they stopped caring at 11AM on Friday when I had to take over and manage all the issues with the design flaw and failure to clean up the mess they made. I am on them and now so is IKEA. I am also withholding payment until they right the damage done to my home. read more

As the company hired by Traemand to assemble IKEA cabinets, SCITUATE CASEWORKS was not suited for the project. Their project managed lied to us, and tried to charge us for work without a supporting documentation. They charged our credit card for second (supposedly final) payment for the installation before we even had cabinets in the kitchen. The cabinets were installed with multiple issues: veneer was chipped in multiple spots, with cracks left around a screw, shelves were left loose, and gaps between the cabinets or molding and a wall. We had to point out the issues repeatedly, and every time it was met like a normal thing, no notes taken and some of it still not finished. Their subcontractors did a terrible job. The electrician left AFCIs breaking from use of kitchen appliances. He did not label electrical panel correctly, and not even apologized when we brought it to his attention. He also started to run wires for under-cabinet lights, which we did not have on our kitchen plan, and we had to stop him, not the project manager, who was not on site every day. So the quality control was our daily task, and they still charged us for it. The plumber did a lousy job with piping under sink, and estimated other work (which we asked about) almost twice more expensive than other plumber that we selected later. He worked on a spigot and it leaked when we checked it afterwards. Project manager did not like looking into drawings, so we had to ask them not to forget to remove an outlet or not to forget to add another one. Their subs had to come multiple times to complete work missed because they did not look into the kitchen plans. She suggested us to have a hose to supply water to the fridge to run through and inside of the base cabinets, as well as to keep exposed sewer pipe inside of another cabinet. Counter-top company came twice to take the measurements, as the project manager did not reschedule (the renovation was significantly delayed). It took them more than promised 8 weeks and still was not fully done when they left last time. We love IKEA, but this experience shows that IKEA needs to demonstrate stronger supervision and not to tolerate Traemand hiring contractors that hurt IKEA's reputation. read more

Do not use this company. They do not oversee their contractors and cannot be trusted to settle matters over their poor workmanship. I used them for a 2017 renovation in Atlanta, GA. It went horribly. Successfully received a default judgment from a lawsuit with Sciuate Caseworks for over $7K and the owner Erik Knapp stopped returning any communications. read more

Scitiate Caseworks installed IKEA cabinetry in my laundry room. The quality of their installation work was 5 star. Everything works as expected and looks great. They left no loose ends or messes. I was not there during installation. The handyman had only positive interactions with the workman. Communication with schedulers was only 3 star, but probably to be expected as I purchased and installed right after major IKEA sale. In their defense, they came when they said they would. I delayed twice due to incomplete parts from IKEA. The price was right. I had others do my plumbing and countertops for reasons of personal choice. Avoid at all cost, most unprofessional group of people I have ever encountered. Quotes a price, then keeps adding "extras", does not show up when scheduled to. Poor workmanship, rude personnel and the owner does not take any customer complaints. Imagine that! They are the only contractor IKEA uses on east coast. SC is the kitchen installer for IKEA. Before they do business with you, they will need an upfront $199 consultation fee. This is not refundable should you decide not to hire them, nor is it taken off the installation price. So be sure you want these people to work for you. Our first "consultant" showed up an hour and a half late, without apology. His work was careless and slipshod. For 2 weeks, he would not answer emails or phone messages. He finally wrote saying that he was taking a "leave of absence" from the company. In fact, he was fired. The project went thru two more consultants. The last one ordered an overage of $700 worth of material that was of no use, and neglected to order several pieces that were needed. I should add that Scituate Caseworks estimates for the parts and hardware were several hundred dollars under what the final costs turned out to be. I was told that their computer hardware didn't always "line up" with IKEAs, so don't take their estimates seriously. I was also told it was my responsibility to take the excess back to IKEA myself and get a refund. Fortunately, I did not order any new ranges, sinks, dishwashers from IKEA myself, and had my own contractors do the needed plumbing and electrical work. Otherwise, I would have anticipated more headaches. The project got done finally, but after no end of frustration and aggravation. I will say that Linda Bate, the project manager, and the actual installers did well. Linda was helpful and the installers knew what they were doing and worked rapidly. I chose this route initially because I thought the IKEA model kitchens were attractive and I could save some money, as kitchen renovations are very expensive and inevitably run way over budget. In the end, I probably didn't save anything. read more

They don't have enough contractors for the jobs they take. Who sends only one person to install an entire kitchen? And a contractor that has to travel from Fall River to Boston. Not a good mix. The work was well done but took a long time. Try to catch them during a slow season, if there is such a thing. read more

not only are they only driven to take you money but their work is shoddy at best. i have been and installer and designer for them and wish i had not suckered people into using them. in both situations they instructed me to close the deals,and get the customer to sign off on unfinished jobs so they could get their money. i have left them due to their inability to doing a satisfactory job on the simplest of cabinet installs. their owner will only show up if you threaten not to pay, the accountant will let the installers over charge you without care, and the project manager hires installers and NEVER actually manages them herself..... I'm just appalled by how horrible they are and still get referrals from Ikea. if you have any questions about them please don't hesitate to contact me. there are a lot of unhappy people who should warn others so that this type of contractor is put out of business. there are plenty of good contractors who will not take advantage of you or their employees. and as an employer there are more complaints than i can fit on this page.... read more

I have had a project lingering since September. They said they were coming back and still have not done so... worst project management group ever. I do not recommmend them. The "regional manager " couldn't run a lemonade stand as far as I'm concerned. She was the rudest Individual I have ever spoken to. Here i sit with an undone project. read more

I had a good experience with Scituate and their staff. They were very knowledgeable and spent a lot of time working with me to make sure I liked my kitchen plan. A few things needed to be changed in the lay-out once the installation got started and what the installers suggested to do made it work perfectly. I had them do the demolition, build a wall for the peninsula, the electrical and the tile work. When they started taking out the cabinets they discovered mold because the plumbing pipes had corroded behind the wall and I didn't know. They were able to get their plumber to come out 1 day after to start running new plumbing lines so we didn't have a big delay. I am really glad I got the coordination service because the inventory alone was a huge job. There were missing parts, out of stock parts and the installers ran across damaged parts as they were installing. They worked with IKEA on getting everything straightened out. Some of the replacement parts were out of stock and then the delivery company brought the wrong parts so it took a little longer to get the project finished. Overall I am very happy with my kitchen and it looks beautiful. read more
