AVOID! I had been a happy patient for over 2 years, but ever since the merger with Schweiger Dermatology last summer, this place has gone downhill. Some of their best doctors have left, and the new staff is AWFUL. The woman at the front desk is loud and rude (she yelled across the entire waiting room about a private procedure I had) and she didn't take the time to make note of what I explained to her, resulting in my being charged again for a treatment I already paid for. I recently had an appointment with the PA (since my favorite doctor left) and after being called into the room I was told by the nurse that I would once again have to pay for the procedure I already paid for. After explaining my situation and that I had bought a package, I was met with a shrug and told that there was nothing they could do and someone should have called me to tell me that my package was finished (which no one did.) I asked if they could tell me the dates when I came in (just in case it was my mistake and my package was actually done) and was rudely told "No. But someone will call you." I called the concierge service after leaving the office, and they were also confused and told me that I did in fact have another treatment left and that the receptionist had a note of this. The PA didn't even have the decency to even step in, and I was left having wasted my time and left with no explanation as to why the office wouldn't honor what I paid for and couldn't tell me the dates they claimed I had come in. After 2 years of being a patient, I will NOT be returning. They will gauge you for money and are overall shady with a rude and unprofessional staff. No one deserves to be treated the way they treat their patients. read more

This place is a total scam all around ! As a very reputable physician told me recently( which I found out too late ) , this practice merged and it is not what it used to be . unfortunately they just thrive on taking peoples money and making them believe cosmetic procedures are the end all be all. I shookd have done my research better ! If I could give it zero I would . The nurses were rude and short with me and my 17 yes old son. The Pa couldn't be bothered with my questions ! Then when she did answer my questions , she charged me a co pay bc it then went from a cosmetic appnt to a medical appnt even though it wasn't ! Not only did they take thousands of dollars from me they didn't even use the avi clear laser for the amount of time they should, it should have been at least 20-30'min . The first two sessions were a total of 5 min and then to appease me the last final session was 10-12 min. They told me they never do it for 20-30 min which they should for it to be effective ! They lied ! and to take advantage of a 17 yr old with acne how unethical and unprofessional and the most disappointing factor??!!- they don't Care ! and this is a medical facility ? what happened to treating patients with care, respect , and having some compassion? iDo not waste your time , money Schweiger Dermatology ! You will be extremely disappointed . if I can save a few people from making the mistake and wasting their money on AvI Clear Laser that would be of benefit . trust me these medical professionals and Dr Tina and her staff don't care ! to make matters worse when I called numerous times to say it wasn't working when they eventually got around to calling back they said oh it will give it time . Then they suggested I may need another kind of laser the nerve !!!! and to come but I would have to have a copay for that after allthe money I spent ... of course just take more money and Lie to me some more ! I have been going here for a few years because I have uncontrollable itching from head to toe where I end up in the ER to get itchin relie. This office gives me the runaround and will not let me see a real doctor only the nurse practitioners who do nothing. I made an appointment in the office last month with one of the doctors and later the same day I got a text canceling my appointment with no reason. Worst experience ever. I had a vascular occlusion on my face and I could either pay hundreds upfront or have the skin on my face rot. The ken Barbie look-a-like doctor prescribed me some useless cream. I now have scars on my face from the occlusion. This office will not work with you on a payment plan if you are in dire need of help. They will turn you away because they don't see dollar signs. Update - I received a comment from Joelle S. and I just want to add that I am fully covered by insurance and I would have never written a bad review if the doctor proposed a payment plan to me, which he did not. A vascular occlusion is not just a cosmetic procedure, it requires medical attention because loss of circulation and blood flow to a certain area results in the death of skin cells. I was proposed to pay hundreds of dollars up front or else. By the time I went to a reliable doctor that really cared about my problem, I already had PERMANENT damage to the skin on my face. This is my third update - This horrible office that caused me to have permanent scarring on my face sent $91 they couldn't get out of my insurance to collections. Tina Fermano is just wonderful. She cleared up my adult acne years ago after more than 10 years of me struggling for a cure. Last Friday I went to the Hackensack location and I was appalled by the actions of some workers there. Specifically 2 female employees (1 Asian the other looks Spanish) they were extremely loud and kept making fun of other patients as they walked by. There was 1 lady that I felt so bad for!!! Every patient in the fully crowded waiting areas, including the patient being harassed could hear them laughing and making fun of her, just looking at her face you could see how embarrassed she was. It was so sad, that an establishment would allow their employees to act that way, especially in the medical field. It was completely unprofessional and inappropriate behavior. It honestly gave me flashbacks of being in High School, thats how CHILDISH these grown ladies were acting. Other than those 2, the other employees, nurses and Doctors were great. The professional and caring workers are the only reason I'm rating so high ( 2 stars), otherwise I would have given (1 star) if based on those 2 horrible workers. I would go back based on overal service, however not on days those 2 "girls" work. read more

It's a shame how this place has gone downhill. This is no fault of anyone in general, I just think this place needs better office leadership. Here is my experience. Monday, April 30th - I went in because had a swollen bug bite, which was infected. Dr. Lolis drained it and took a culture. She prescribed antibiotics - Amoxcillin. I specifically asked them to send it to Shoprite Pharmacy in Rochelle Park, since my information has changed. I said, "Make sure you send it to shoprite pharmacy, as I no longer use CVS in Fort Lee". Their reply was, "Sure, no problem!". Next thing I know I get a text from CVS pharmacy that my prescription was ready. Strike 1. Thursday, May 3rd - I called in to find out the results of my culture. They said it hadn't come in yet but as soon as it came, they would call me back. Pretty fair. Friday, May 4th - I called in again, and they said the culture has come in and the doctor or MA need to look at the results. They said they would call me back the same day. I called in the morning and forgot to call back, so I said, I will wait until Monday. Of course, I'm not gonna wait for them to call, I will follow up. Sunday - May 6th - Course of antibiotics ended. Felt a bit better, but area was still swollen. Monday - May 7th - I called the office again to get my culture results. Same run around, "Doctor needs to review it and she will call you back or MA will call you back". Never got a call back. I called again in the afternoon, and they said they assigned the case to someone. At this point, my wound is not any better and still a bit swollen with a bit of pain. Strike 2. Tuesday - May 8th - I called the office in the morning at 9 a.m. then at 12 then at 3 and finally at 5. Mind you, I never got a call back, this was just me being insistent since I am in a bit of pain, and I know that I have an infection. At 5 p.m., they put me on with someone that says that I should come in at 7 p.m. I ask them to just send the stronger antibiotic so I can take it, but they refuse, saying I have to come in. Again, I thought the culture tells you exactly the type of antibiotic you need to treat the infection - (I'm no doctor, but I could be wrong, need a fact check) So why would I still need to come in? Oh that's right they want to charge me for a visit, so I kindly oblige. I go in, see Erin, who was very nice, and answered all my questions the best she could. She sent over another antibiotic, and I made sure they sent it to shoprite pharmacy. I asked her, "please send it to shoprite pharmacy, so I can confirm". I leave the office, and not being gullible, I call the pharmacy. They hadn't received anything. I walk back to the office and ask the receptionist, "Could you please ask them to send the prescription to the pharmacy". Now it's 7:20 p.m., and the pharmacy closes at 8 p.m. Instead of calling the responsible person, she attends to a payment by a customer. Of course the other customer was paying $3519 dollars, so who am I to argue who gets priority? Do the math, a $3519 paying customer or me, who needs a $1.25 prescription? No competition there, business is business, and I can't hate on that. She said, "Please hold on a moment", I said sure, "I have all night"(sarcastically) She laughed and I chuckled. Strike 3 and you're out skin and lasers. Moral of the story is, with this office you have to be on top of them, and I mean act like you're CEO of the place. If you don't insist, they will let your case float around. I'd really hate to be a patient with a more serious condition at this place. I made an appointment months ago for my daughter in November only for them to call and cancel-happily I rescheduled for December 10th, they constantly sent messages that they have earlier appointments available, one came up that fit my schedule and snagged it for 11/22 @ 4:20. Unfortunately my daughter caught the flu they rescheduled for me for the day after Thanksgiving for 2:20pm. Friday they called early to let me know they would be closing early and asked if I could come in earlier-1:30pm, I had no issue coming in. Got there on time-waited for 40 minutes, a person walked in after and was seen in less than 10 minutes, I went to reception and asked how much longer would we have to wait-reception asked colleague and she said, "I will make sure they see you next." Not even 5 minutes passed and was escorted in. Attending assistant gathered info and said the dr would be in shortly. 20 minutes passed by and my 8 year old was already saying she was hungry. I said-okay let's go bc it's apparent that no one is coming in. I opened door and as we were leaving same assistant saw us walking out and I said, we are leaving, she said, "okay bye." I let her know, "no one saw us and my kid is getting hungry." No apologies, or a wait, let me see what's the hold up, just let us leave. No other words were exchanged. It's unprofessional and the lack of respect to think that your time is more valuable than any other patient. It's unfortunate that the pediatrician who recommended this place is having her recommendations tarnished by the lack of unprofessionalism. read more

The information given to a patient Before starting cosmetic treatments is not accurate. in 2 occasions I was told that the treatment will solve my problem and it did not. Also, that the amount of sessions required are much less than what really happens. If you are thinking about having pastelle laser treatment for dark spots, do not waste your time and money. I went to the office for one session, that is what they informed me that will take to remove 1 dark spot, and after a couple of weeks the dark spot was the same. I went back to the office and they did a second pastelle treatment and I was charged for that. Again, it didnt work. As a courtesy they gave me a 3rd treatment free. After more than $700 spent, the spot is still there and I do not plan to go back. Oh, and each spot is individually charged. It is good I had only one and I still have it. Why did they not use liquid nitrogen like before the "laser era" because they can charge an insane amount of money for all those laser treatments that do not work as they say they do. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. I had a 10:50 AM appointment with Dr. Margarita Lolis. We were brought into a room fairly quickly when we got there, but as time went by, we were still not seen/checked up on by anyone. Now it's 12:00 PM and still nothing. The office assistant (or physician assistant) came to our exam room and said "oh you guys weren't seen yet?" To that I said "no. No one has come in here." She checked her iPad, asked for the last name, and I saw that our status was "checked out" at 11:47 AM. I was like, how is that possible when we weren't even seen by the doctor or anyone for that matter? The office assistant then told me that the doctor will be right in and apologized for the wait. Now it's 12:15 PM and still nothing. I walked out of the room and the assistant said, again, that the doctor will be right in. I said to myself, "ok, I'm just going to wait until 12:30, and that's it." Dr. Lolis came in at 12:24 PM. She looked at my step son's birthmark on his arm that is bothering him, and she said "oh. To remove this is cosmetic; it's not medically necessary." To that I said, "it's bothering him, growing, and is itchy." She said that she would recommend something for the itch, and she walked out of the room faster than I could ask what medication she would give for the itch. I checked the time and it was 12:26 PM. So this doctor was not even in the room for 2 minutes. Then the assistant came in right after and asked me "did the doctor explain the procedure and how it would be done?" I said "literally not at all. She didn't say anything about what the next steps would be. The assistant said it would consist of about 5 laser sessions for the removal of the growth, and each session is $500. And I said, "5 sessions?! Can't it just be shaved off and cauterized?" The assistant then said, "hold on, let me ask the doctor." She left the room and came back saying "oh yeah. It's only one session. Still $500." I also had to prompt her to have any type of print out for the consultation. As soon as I got the paper, I walked out of the office. I am never coming back to this office or recommending this practice to anyone. I will go somewhere else where they are more respectful of my time, my concerns, and will answer questions that I have to make me more comfortable. read more

this review is more so on the STAFF/PHONE OPERATOR(S) than the doctors. I have been going back and forth with this office for two months now on an issue that should of only taken two weeks. The reason for the delay in getting my procedure is because the immediate office staff INCORRECTLY filed my claim with my insurance company. I have also received a lot of run around as well as misinformation from the immediate office staff. I've also been told by one of the immediate staff members that their office is understaffed, which has also contributed to the delay. Regarding the phone operators, some of them have been extremely UNPROFESSIONAL and ATTITUDINAL when answering my phone calls. I even had one of the operators tell me that I need to "stop calling and wait until they get back to me". I was extremely shocked, the only reason why I had called was because I was following up with information that my insurance company had given me. I always struggled with acne and I decided to get treated. My first time was with Dr. Catena and she did a great job by listening and caring about me and my acne but somehow I couldn't continue going to the west Orange office so I decided to go to Hackensack where I saw Dr. Lolis. She was the worse person, I had my appointment at 9:10, by 9:45 I asked the secretary if she can check on the doctor. After complaining about not being service they made me pass to the office and made me wait for Dr. Lolis until 10:30 when she came in; she didn't apologize for being late. I told her I was upset that I had to wait over an hour to see her and her answer was "you are welcome to change providers if you don't like it" so she went over my paper work and I had to do blood work and she asked me if I had it done and I said yes then she said let me see then I said that I didn't had the blood work results with me then Dr Lolis said "YOUR FACE" then she proceed to grab my neck roughly. She saw my face within one minute and walked out without saying she was done or any updates. After 5 mins the assistant comes in and starts explaining everything to me. So if you are going to get treated here then avoid taking Dr. Lolis, she doesn't care, she is rude and disrespectful to clients and she doesn't care about her job. The great: The office is top notch, professional and always clean. The staff is nice. Dr. Margarita Lolis and I have a connection since we share cultural experiences, so she's my girl. She's also very kind and knowledgable. The not-so-great: I've been there three times so far, and the first two times I had to wait a really long time to be escorted to a room. Once in the room, I had to wait even longer to be seen. The wait time (including the last time I went, which had a more reasonable wait time) well surpasses the amount of time spent with anyone talking to you about any skin concerns. I always feel rushed and like I have to get in my most major questions out before it's "okay, see you on x." I have always forgotten to ask other pressing questions because of this. In fact, I had to research information about what I was putting on my face myself in order to know certain - very important - details. The not-so-great is what gave SL&SS three stars. With a first impression appearance of the office, it seems like they have a really amazing reputation to live up to, so I would love to have them be a little more attentive to or spend a bit more time with their patients. The Cliffsnotes version: GO ELSEWHERE! Even after reading mostly horrible reviews of Dr. Goldberg online, I still scheduled and went to him for a mole check as a new patient. "Why would you do that?!," one might ask. Well, fellow yelper, I am a glutton for punishment and a sucker for convenience (his office is local). In hindsight, I could have made an appointment in Kentucky and gotten home quicker ya'll. Dr. Goldberg's staff (who is very friendly, by the way) told me to get there early to fill out paperwork being that I was new patient. So, like the considerate person I am, I got there at 4:45 for a 5pm appt. Fast forward to 6:30pm (yes, I even waited that long), Dr Goldberg finally came in to do my routine mole check. During the less than 3 minutes he examined me he poked around my gown and says "you look fine." As he ran for the door to rip off....I mean, "examine", another patient, it took all my strength not to make a scene. A waste of $2000 for 6 sessions of laser hair removal with little results. The doctor said 6 sessions would take care of me due to the contrast between my light skin and dark hair. I think he even noticed it wasn't working because initially he said the first time would be the most painful, and the last 3 sessions became increasingly more painful. Almost all of my hair has come back and after almost two years I've saved up enough money to go somewhere else. Any ideas how to get a refund? To be clear, my hair returned shortly after the final session, not several months. This last time Chelsea from the front went out of her way to set up my appointment and was extremely accommodating with my crazy schedule. I'm a new patient and I had the Pearl Laser and Micro Peel this week. I'm particular and very careful with choosing a physician to do cosmetic work (I'm from New Orleans) especially on my face. I was very comfortable with Dr.Man during my consultation visit. Dr. Man and staff are very professional , he answered all my questions and concerns , he was very honest and thorough, so I decided to do the procedure :) Even after care, I called the office today and was concerned with a few blisters, they asked me to come in so he can take a look at it, after all it was normal to have after the procedure . This was one of the worst appointment experiences I have ever had in my life because of the long wait time, unhelpful appointment, and return visit for my license the front desk never gave back. I waited over 45 minutes in a stuffy waiting room with others who said they waited over an hour. This wait time is absolutely unacceptable for a five-minute medical consultation appointment I had made weeks prior for a scar on my leg - I wanted to discuss options about removing it or improving the appearance, and they told me I needed a medical consultation first even though I asked multiple times if I could have a cosmetic consultation or both as opposed to only a medical consultation. Yet, when I was finally able to see a doctor, they told me I needed to make a cosmetic consultation and offered no solutions other than making another appointment, which I obviously did not make because of the wait time and quality of care I received. And lastly, as a cherry on top, the front desk took my license when I was checking in and NEVER made an effort to give it back: no phone call, no effort as I was leaving the office, nothing. When I finally returned, a day later, to get my license, it was sitting in the front desk's drawer and they handed it back no problem. What a mess! read more

I very much do NOT recommend. I had a mole on my face I was nervous about getting removed for years and I expressed that when I sat in the chair, sharing my concerns and asking if I should see a plastic surgeon for removal because it was on my face. Without explaining to me clearly what he was doing, the Doctor completely shaved my mole off for testing and said it will look totally fine. He did NOT explain that I would have a large crater/scar on my face 4 months later because of the way he removed it. Then he proceeded to laugh at me during my follow up appointment when I asked why it looked basically worse than the actual mole did, saying "well you know it would be fine if it was on your elbow and not your face." Then proceeded to tell me there was nothing further he could do for me and I could go pay for a plastic surgeon.. Super pissed. read more

I went to this office with a referral to Tina but unfortunately could not get an appointment with her. So I had my first appointment with Amy Tank to which she did a culture test on a concerning (and very large) lump on my forehead, she told me she would call me the previous day with the results. She did not call with any updates and trying to get in touch with anyone at the office is an absolute nightmare. I decided to make another appointment to see what was going on and I had made the appointment with Margarita Lollis, and I will say this was the worse experience I have every had with a medical professional. She gave me an extreme diagnosis and when I asked her to explain why she thinks that and what I can do to test for it she told me to seek another opinion. I have had extreme anxiety and panic since this diagnosis and absolutely no direction to prove if her diagnosis was correct or not. I genuinely think what she did was cruel and unprofessional. I still haven't been contacted with my results, my condition is no better, and I am even more worried and lost than I was when I first came in. read more

Extremely unhappy with the doctor and the lack of results. I saw Dr. Lolis for laser acne treatment and she deemed that I was the perfect candidate for the cool image laser with LED therapy too for 5 sessions (roughly $5,000 in total). I've finished the treatments 5 months ago and my acne is still exactly the same. When I went back for my follow up, she said she would throw in free salicylic acid peels for free and that it would expedite my results. I did one of them and my face never even peeled. I decided not to continue the peels because I found her to be very unprofessional and it felt like she didn't care at all about me as a patient. Dr. Lolis would never warn me when a particular part of the procedure would be painful, always was in a rush, was impossible to get in touch with in between and after my treatments when I needed to speak with her on concerns, and always double or triple booked her time slots. Be prepared to wait!! Lastly, during my acid treatment, to cleanse the skin for the peel, they apply acetone to your face. With no warning, she just starts applying this to my face, with no ventilation, and I actually burned my throat and lungs, and felt it the next day. The acid treatment was itchy and painful and again, she gave no warning. I don't think I've ever heard her say 3 words. OVERALL: Not worth the money for the amount and quality of attention and service you receive. I wish I could get my money back. read more

The office assistant (or physician assistant) came to our exam room and said "oh you guys weren't seen yet?" To that I said "no. No one has come in here." She checked her iPad, asked for the last name, and I saw that our status was "checked out" at 11:47 AM. I was like, how is that possible when we weren't even seen by the doctor or anyone for that matter? The office assistant then told me that the doctor will be right in and apologized for the wait. Now it's 12:15 PM and still nothing. I walked out of the room and the assistant said, again, that the doctor will be right in. I said to myself, "ok, I'm just going to wait until 12:30, and that's it." Dr. Lolis came in at 12:24 PM. She looked at my step son's birthmark on his arm that is bothering him, and she said "oh. To remove this is cosmetic; it's not medically necessary." To that I said, "it's bothering him, growing, and is itchy." She said that she would recommend something for the itch, and she walked out of the room faster than I could ask what medication she would give for the itch. I checked the time and it was 12:26 PM. So this doctor was not even in the room for 2 minutes. Then the assistant came in right after and asked me "did the doctor explain the procedure and how it would be done?" I said "literally not at all. She didn't say anything about what the next steps would be. The assistant said it would consist of about 5 laser sessions for the removal of the growth, and each session is $500. And I said, "5 sessions?! Can't it just be shaved off and cauterized?" The assistant then said, "hold on, let me ask the doctor." She left the room and came back saying "oh yeah. It's only one session. Still $500." I also had to prompt her to have any type of print out for the consultation. As soon as I got the paper, I walked out of the office. I am never coming back to this office or recommending this practice to anyone. I will go somewhere else where they are more respectful of my time, my concerns, and will answer questions that I have to make me more comfortable. read more

I came here yesterday afternoon for an annual skin exam with Dr. Lolis. The office is very beautiful and the receptionist was very pleasant. I am basically covered in freckles all over my body so I liked that Dr. Lolis was able to make feel at ease with the concerns that I had about my skin. She was personable and was able to provide a thorough examination and let me know which spots on my skin should be monitored. I will more than likely return next year. read more

I have had an extremely unprofessional experience with this office. I never received a bill, and then received a letter that my bill was sent to collections. It was impossible to get through to them, they wouldn't call me back, answer any of my questions. It sounds like their Customer Service is located outside of the US and there is no courtesy whatsoever. Never going back here again. read more

Dr Lolis saved my skin! I had such bad acne, and it's incredible what she did for me. She was kind, understanding, and completely sensitive to my situation. It took a while to happen, but I look better than ever. Yeah, I had to wait a while to see her, but it's always been worth it! The staff is amazing too!
