She was very curt in her greeting and was advised that the practice no longer took my insurance. I called my insurance company who advised that the doctor and the hospital he was affiliated with were in network. The insurance representative called Carol for clarification and I was told that she was even ruder to her and actually hung up on her. The insurance representative called Carol back while I was on the phone, and she was rude, combative, nasty, condescending, and argumentative. Carol would not let the insurance representative get in a single word and proceeded to tell her that the reason why the practice did not take my insurance was because the Doctor made a business decision. She further conveyed that there were problems getting a preauthorization for services, despite the insurance representative attempting to explain that routine colonoscopies do not need pre authorizations and that the practice and the hospital were in network. Carol later said she would not see me or my husband because they did not know what treatment was needed, despite repeatedly telling her that THEY sent the letter regarding a routine colonoscopy. She then said they had no openings this year and that they were not taking my insurance in 2027, despite telling me earlier that they were not taking it at all, which is internally inconsistent with her earlier assertion. I was flabbergasted at her attitude, standoffishness, rudeness and unprofessionalism. She repeatedly talked over the insurance representative who was kind and patient while just trying to get clarification on their status with the insurance plan. I am still in disbelief that she spoke in that manner, it was like she was scolding a child. Unfortunately, even if you have a good doctor, his/her staff can ruin the practice. After this unpleasant experience, this practice doesn't even deserve a rating of a one. The insurance call was on a recorded line and will be forwarded to another level. It is interesting to note that Healthgrades notes that he takes my insurance.

I've been seeing Dr. Patel since 2021. At first, she was kind, attentive, and empathetic. I…read morerecommended her to friends. During this past year, I have had the opposite experience with her. She was unfriendly and dismissive. After putting me on HRT, I shared with her that I was more weepy and prone to frustration and wondered if the HRT needed to be tweaked or maybe wasn't for me. She told me that her patients report improvement and that I should see a psychiatrist. Maybe I should see a psychiatrist, but to act like hormones can't possible affect a woman's emotionality bordered on gaslighting. The final straw for me, however, was I had to cancel my check up due to COVID exposure and was told the next available appointment was not for three months. When I said that seemed irresponsible given Dr. Patel was supposed to be monitoring my HRT, she said she would "pass it along" - not "I didn't realize that, I'll get back to you to see if we can fit you in." All to say, if i were you, I would find someone else who can give you more time and care.
