They don't carry as many organic options as other grocery stores in the neighborhood, which is not a dealbreaker. If you're running low on some kitchen stuff, this is the place to pick it up, or if you need something last-minute to pick up on the way home. I do like the fact that their shopping carts are not all over their parking lot like many other grocery stores, and there is more than enough parking. To the contrary, there's a persistent weird odor inside the store that's been there for years. Small thing, but noticeable (and not a thing with other stores nearby). The building itself is a bit old and could be updated. Overall, it is conveniently located, reasonably priced, and all employees are always friendly. Solid choice for shopping.

This place is more like a small grocery than a convenient store because they have fresh produce plus deli meats and cheeses. Their produce includes iceberg lettuce, onions, green bell peppers, potatoes, and baby carrots. Fresh eggs and milk are available too. Their deli meats hams, bologna, turkey breast , pickle & pepper loaf, chicken breast, salami, pepperoni, plus cheeses, pasta salad, coleslaw, chicken salad, pineapple walnut salad, feta salad, and potato salad. They even have my cat's favorite Friskies pate cat food. How many convenience stores stock five kinds of cat litter? And charcoal for grilling out? A lot of helpful employees were working here the Tuesday afternoon I visited. I didn't know anybody still made pickle & pepper loaf lunch meat. There is a section towards the back of the store with cooked food such as pig ears, chicken feet and duck tongues. Items seemed a bit cheaper than at Saraga although not by much. The cashier line was short and the staff present were pleasant. It does have a funny smell but it is probably due to all the live animals.

You can choose chili or hot alfredo or both. I went with a light dressing of Alfredo for a meat-free option. Then, they have a variety of toppings to choose from. After entering from 146th St., there are samples from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. I tried their mac and cheese and 2 types of chocolate. I bought the $4.99 soup and $3.99 for both filled kolaches. They were out of the steak, egg, and cheese kolache so I ordered an egg kolache. All were good. I also chose a chicken enchilada which I will try tomorrow.

So we went to this little hidden gem, tucked away in a strip mall in Carmel. This is a tiny store with an offering of items from Eastern Europe. There is a great variety of items for anyone to find something to try and well worth a visit. I picked up two types or tea, a jar of vegetable spread, and beet salad and sour pickles from the deli case. Both teas were equally good and flavorful. And the deli items were fresh and tasty.

Yesterday for instance, I was getting stuff to bake cookies and I wanted Nestle Chunks because I love them. I thought for sure I could find them at Fresh Market, but NO! I was denied and overpaid for a bag of regular morsels. Then when I was cruising around town I stopped at Safeway to see if they had them and sure enough, they did and cost 10% less. yuppers. I have other stories about trying to go to Buds for stuff - like fresh Parmesan cheese only to find they didn't have what I wanted... i didn't feel like going downtown or to southport, so I gave Safeway a shot and they had my back. Another perk, should you decide to venture in, is their wine/beer selection. It's actually pretty decent (better than Buds at least) and the prices are good too. If you are into going local, they carry Easley wines. I was pretty happy to see that. The neighborhood is, well, the neighborhood... it is located at Raymond and Shelby after all. I'm happy that this grocery store is here and support it when I can.
