I have a 2011 Hei Hei. I bought it used but it was in great condition, obviously well taken care…read moreof without signs of damage. I rode it for three years, enjoying the ride and function of the bike overall. The bike got me out of some bad spots due to the bike's capabilities. Why only three stars? The brakes were always on the noisy side, which is a minor issue, partially solved by using good pads. The big issue is that the frame cracked on the seat post tube, near the crank. This bike had no damage there or anywhere else. This is not an area that would be damaged easily. My local bike shop confirmed it was a stress crack that occurred from normal use. A quick internet search show that this is a common area for a Hei Hei's frame to break. This is obviously a weak spot in manufacturing or design of the frame. I contacted Kona, sent them the attached photos and they just sent me information for Kona shops in my area. Since Kona is a premium brand, I hoping they would take a little responsibility other than kiss me off to a local shop. I'm shopping for a new bike now and will not be looking at Kona's. Look at the attached photos. I hope they save you from the same problem I have. I thought about giving a one star review but it was a good bike for eight years. Anybody need spare parts?

So we searched for a bike shop and found one .6 miles from our airbnb--the website showed both e bikes and analog options. To make a reservation the site directed us to call... John answered and was very friendly, he agreed that he had some e bikes for us for a 1pm reservation and confirmed that they take visa. We showed up as agreed and they got us set up and squared away quickly. The bikes were electric assist, so you still have to pedal them, but you get a lot more push for your pedal because the motor kicks in. We didn't know where we were going but had a vague notion that we wanted to go north along the bay. Since we hadn't checked a map out or anything, we were a little bit surprised that the road forked off away from the water, but we soldiered on. The road got to be a little bit narrow, but all the drivers seemed conscientious and courteous as they went around us. We went on to bike all the way up to Semiahmoo County Park where we broke out the picnic blankets and picnic backpack--a really good time. John was still there when we returned the bikes and I would definitely recommend. It seemed like he does bike tuning and repairs for locals as well.

Didn't bother to ask me a single question about what or why I was looking for. I can only speculate as to what the sales/service model is here. Clearly I'm not fitting into it. I ended up purchasing my bike directly from the manufacturer. I don't think I'd even come back here for service.

Hey! Two sisters, 63 & 66 rented two different e-bikes for the day. We rode them non-stop. We…read morecalled Sun-E-Land on a Monday, (during off hours) and arranged to rent two e-bikes. Matt was very accomodating to meet us and rent us the bikes. He explained the operation of them, we tested them and then took off. Getting them was a very easy process. We were free to ride and we rode them to Hovander Park putting a good 30 miles into day and we absolutely loved the ease of riding these bikes. To get there, we rode our our own bikes there, locked them up and took off. The bikes were in excellent working condition, fully charged and helmets and locks were provided. Also, additional battery charger, just in case, but we did not use. What a great way to try out e-bikes and spend the day. Bring a back pack because there wasn't a basket or storage place. Many people don't realize they also do light truck, car and small trailer tires as well. However if they say they can't repair your tire they are governed by Department of Transportation regulations that determine if a tire is repairable or not and it's for everyone's safety if they can't repair your tire.
