Tom came out to my home to service my AC unit through my home warranty company (American home…read moreShield). He texted the night before with an arrival time and I responded back with a request to text me when he was on his way to which he ignored and just showed up at my home. When he arrived, he let himself into our shed where the AC unit was (Prior to making my wife aware he was even there). He then came to the door and proceeded to have my wife call me so he could ask some questions. He asked what was going on and I explained that AHS said they had to send out a tech to assess my unit since the last tech visit was too long ago to use "previous claim" He proceeded to hand the phone to my wife while stating that he "wasnt dealing with this $hit" and walked out the door and drove off. I have never been treated so unprofessionally not to mention without cause... I proceeded to try and reach him to find out what to do next as we waited all morning for him already and he just left??? He would not take my calls and refused to respond to text messages (I will gladly show video footage of the interaction from my nest cameras as well as the screen shots of numerous requests for a response as to what we should do and what the problem was... I do not usually do negative reviews but here I am almost 3 hours later and still no response from him and AHS will not send another tech until this guy updates the work order (Which he still hasnt done). NO AC and its 89 degrees in my house and Tom was RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL!!! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. Terrible experience all the way around with this guy and to think my porr wife was scared to death that he was cursing and storming off like that, she had no idea what was happening.... see attached texts to him with no response as of now (2 hours after last text). also, I did send a courtesy text letting him know if I didnt hear back I would be doing my reviews! Still no response.

STAY AWAY! I…read morecontacted Absotemp because my air conditioner broke -- right before a heat wave. I was told that there was a service charge of $90 and was given a 4 hour window. Matt, apparently the owner of the company, came a few minutes after the end of that window, a couple minutes after 4:00 p.m. (BTW, he smelled of pot.) When he got here, he asked what the problem was & I explained that the air conditioner wasn't working. He immediatey went to the furnace. I told him I wasn't having trouble with the furnace, it was the air conditioner. He then proceeded to tell me that they are connected, my furnace is old and inefficient, and possibly dangerous. He spent a lot of time looking at it and taking pictures. He then got a phone call and was gone for about 15 minutes. He came back and continued explaining to me about the different kinds of furnaces. I reminded him that I called him about the air conditioner. He asked what kind of thermostat I had and then he finally went to look at the air conditioner. He said that was old as well (both were probably original and from the 1970s), but he couldn't figure out when. He called someone about tracing the model, but they couldn't do it either. He then came back into the house & said he'd go into his truck and write up an estimate. An hour and a half later, I went outside to see if he was still here. All of his prices were really high. And again, it was AIR CONDITIONING repair that I contacted him about. After he asked if I had any questions, I said, "I asked you to come out because of the air conditioning. Can you do anything about it?" He huffed and went outside. He came back in after a couple minutes and said that it was the motor fan and "There's nothing I can do about, it Sweetie." :O (That was the second time he called me that!) When I asked if he had any suggestions, he said "Stay in the basement." It was not said with humor. He then asked for a check ("or an ACH") -- AND HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING except waste nearly 4 hours of my time. I had 3 other companies come out after that. Not a single one charged for an estimate, they didn't take ridiculous amounts of time, and they didn't try to oversell me. Needless to say, I chose a different company.

We have had repeated issues with this company's technicians and no longer trust their service…read more During our furnace installation, the two techs failed to check for gas leaks, leaving our basement filled with gas -- a dangerous situation that could have ended very badly. We also caught them wandering around parts of our basement they had no reason to be in, and when questioned, they gave a vague excuse and walked away. A year later, during an HVAC check, a technician claimed our AC capacitor was "low" and could burn out and tried to sell us a backup. Capacitors are either within tolerance or failing -- there is no such thing as a "low" capacitor, and a backup is pointless because a failed capacitor must be replaced. We said we would replace it when it died. It's been checked since with no issues. During our recent spring check-up, a different technician, Marshall, told us our AC was "incompatible" with our coil and suggested installing a hard start kit. I questioned how that would fix incompatibility, he admitted it wouldn't and blamed it as a band-aid on a supposed "hack job" during installation. I said our house had been inspected with no issues of incompatibility of our compressor and the coil. He later returned with a completely fabricated story about our AC being a "special COVID-era unit" that was magically made to be universally compatible and we didn't need to worry about it. Our AC was installed in 2019, before COVID. His explanation made no sense. Then he randomly added that he remembered our refrigerant being low last time and that the recent install of our furnace must have solved that issue. Our refrigerant was never low and the install of the furnace would have nothing to do with the compressor. I felt like this guy thought that because I was female that I knew nothing and would believe his BS. He then attempted to upsell us on $3,000 worth of duct mastic sealing. I asked, why would we pay that when you haven't even verified that we have duct leaks? He said there was "no way" to test for duct leaks -- which is simply untrue. Also problematic is that he was training a new tech on this nonsense. This company is clearly not training their technicians properly and seems to encourage upselling over honesty. We will not be using them again and will be warning others to avoid them as well.
