We finally moved our personal belongings that had been in storage in Australia for just over 10 years (yes, don't ask) and shipped internationally through Grace Removals, based in Australia. Schumacher were the stateside logistics company contracted with Grace to get our stuff from the Port of LA to Arizona after its seabound journey. I found them to be very accommodating, helpful and responsive to emails. We happened to move house while waiting and I contacted them to change the delivery address and push the date back as I had originally planned to put this stuff straight into another U-Haul storage unit temporarily until we had moved house. I asked them if it was possible to hold our gear for another month and it was the same price as the U-Haul storage unit so I got them to hold it until after we closed. It made it so much easier and they delivered 2 nights ago and packed it straight into my garage - which saved me having to move it all again from our storage facility. Definitely a good plan! I would absolutely recommend them - their logistics person who I dealt with (Daisy) was responsive, quick and helpful to all my emails. The guys who delivered our belongings were very nice, very helpful and did a great job making sure everything was as it was when it was shipped - there was no damage to any boxes and nothing was missing, considering the long voyage it all took to get here. Before you read this, if you're considering Schumacher RUN RUN RUN! Don't even waste another calorie. Trust me, I read the reviews and thought, no way anything will happen to me... Boy was I wrong! I shipped my car to Spain and I was told it would take 6 weeks. "In fact the ship is leaving next Tuesday" they said. Wow it sounded great! I left the car with them, they told me they'll send the invoice. - After I had signed everything, every-time I called whoever was responsible was on vacation. That alone went on for months. No calls answered, no emails replied. In between when I really got angry on their answer machine, I'd get an email that my car would be leaving next week! It was always a lie. My very expensive car just sat out in the blazing sun of compton fading in color. Finally it shipped and 6 months later the car arrived. In between I was informed that I have to pay an extra few thousand dollars, because the customs stopped the container because I was sharing it with a Tesla and it's customs job to inspect all battery operated vehicles. I paid 66% of the Teslas invoice, why I don't know, I don't know why I should have paid anything. Then they tell you on the invoice it's port to port... but it's not. You're paying from Compton to Long Beach and that's it! The second it leaves LB, now you have to pay another company that they never mentioned once in the initial conversations and they're also not mentioned in the invoice anywhere. In reality it's 3 extra companies, because sharing is caring. Once the car arrived in Spain I was introduced to Daniel. Very nice guy on the outside, just little to no understanding of how to import vehicles although he does this apparently weekly, it's his job. He advised me to import the car as a tourist even though I was a resident (highly illegal), and gave me nothing but non-stop wrong advice. He also pretends he's talking to customs when the truth is not one person has ever heard of him at the customs, I called them personally multiple times. He just talks to another broker. The whole setup is nothing but chaos. He then hijacked my car and told me I couldn't have it unless I pay for his complete mess up and the 66% costs for the Tesla inspection. Now 8 months later when I go to pick up the car, they forgot to tell me one small issue. Their was a storm and the car was smashed dented and scratched practically all-over. So I couldn't move the car because the insurance had to look at it. It's been almost a year, I've heard nothing back from the insurance, I've got a tax bill from the government that I have to sort because schumachers buddy Daniel is incompetent to do anything and didn't file correcly. Still don't have a useable car. I've ready stories of people fighting them for 6 years and counting. Schumacher isn't a serious company, remember you're always only paying to the port, don't believe anything else as it's not true. Triple your quote every time, because that's probably the reality. Now I have to pay for lawyers on top of everything else, not only has my vehicle diminished in value (battery dead after 8 months, tire ripped off (they didn't care), color faded from the sun, car scratched, smashed windows and parts, no reply from their insurance, I still can't use it because of their mess up. And quite honestly, an air tag can kind of solve all my mental wonderings of "Where is my stuff and why isn't it here yet?" without having to rely too heavily on the shipping company providing me manic updates (although they did provide updates from time to time). I was satisfied with the amount provided. Belongings arrived in good condition, where unpacked by delivery crew promptly when they did finally arrive (were suppose to arrive around 7-9am window and it was post noon before they actually arrived), nothing damaged or out of place and the crew hauled our boxes away. Used Schumacher to move our things from California to Finland. They had the middle bid of the three international movers we asked for prices. I had a pretty honest conversation with the rep about my concerns with the negative feedback about the company on the Internet (of which there are also many for the competition as well). He gave me an honest answer and some other review sites to check out which I did. In the end we did choose them and the customer service from start to finish was professional and great. The movers at both ends of the shipment were professional, nice people and fast. Everything delicate was wrapped up perfectly and it all arrived in one piece. Nothing was missing either. Customs in Finland went quickly. The final date of delivery was slightly delayed by about a week but that happens in shipping and isn't under their control. Note we did NOT move furniture nor something complicated to import (like a car). Only personal items, glassware, books, etc. - something like large 60 boxes. However I would highly recommend this business for international moves based on my data point of one. Very satisfied customer here. No complaints. read more

The absolute biggest scammers. My husband and I used Schumacher to move from Miami to Germany, and it was by far the worst decision we made during our relocation. At first, Naomi was friendly and seemed upfront about costs and logistics. But the moment we signed the contract, everything changed. Communication became vague, key decisions were made without our input, and every time we asked for clarity, whether on final square footage, marine insurance, or extra charges, we were brushed off with generic responses like, "this is the better option" or "building deliveries aren't usually more than 2 floors." We were then hit with multiple surprise charges, including one related to the floor level of our new building. But when our items were picked up in Miami, the movers had no issue collecting boxes from our 4th-floor apartment. So this sudden change in what's considered "included" felt like nothing more than a convenient excuse to tack on more fees. We tried to be understanding, but at this point, it honestly felt like a scam. We kept asking for honesty and transparency, and got neither. My husband was never told about these "additional" costs during the initial call. It felt like the bare minimum was shared upfront just to close the sale, with the rest withheld until we had no choice. Schumacher also knew our destination well in advance, and yet didn't flag any of these supposed delivery limitations when we gave them our updated address. That kind of oversight (or intentional withholding) shows a clear lack of professionalism and accountability. To top it off, several of our boxes arrived in disgusting condition, and five items were broken and damaged so bad, it didn't even feel worth filing a claim. That's how little faith we had in the process by the end. We've since gone back and read the reviews and now, sadly, everything makes sense. We put our trust, belongings, and money in a company that clearly doesn't value integrity, customer service, or basic respect. Avoid Schumacher at all costs. US to Portugal move. The packers on the US end made short work of packing up our belongings. Everything was packed carefully and professionally. The US crew they sent was very easy to work with. The estimator and project manager were professional and knowledgeable about the required customs documents. Glad we bought insurance even though we didn´t use it. On the EU side, the receiving agents let us know when the shipment arrived. It took 5~6 weeks after the container arrived to be delivered. We don´t live near an urban center, so perhaps that could be a factor. During that time, it would have been nice to get more updates, but they did prepare us for potential delays. They sent a 4 man crew to do the offloading into the house. They were great to work with and very accommodating. Expect delays. No one I know who has done a US to EU household shipment gets their stuff "on time" given the complexities, multiple agencies involved, and EU bureaucracy. In the end, I was glad we brought our stuff. It is time-consuming to give away or sell your belongings on the US side, and would have been more expensive and wasteful to rebuy the same stuff in the EU. All in all, I´d say it went better than I expected and glad to have been working with professionals. read more

Even the 6/30 ship date was already one month after taking possession of my vehicle on 5/24. There is no way for me to take my vehicle back and change forwarder. read more

In Los Angeles Schumacher told us we had an overflow of items. they kept our items for 5-6 weeks in there warehouse where they took our belongings, changed boxes, mixed items and never told us about any of this. when we received our items at our final destination everything was sealed with the company's tape so ALL the mishandled was taken place in LA. where a 75" tv was placed they changed the box to a 20x20" and kept our tv. and several other items. seriously save the headaches and stay away. I contacted a few logistics companies to ship my car from France to California. The person who replied from Schumacher was pleasant and had the title of COO, I thought I was in good hands. I cannot describe how DISAPPOINTED I am with this company. I agreed to the quote on November 27th to arrange for pick up, the car was picked up on December 10th with two days to get to the port, I was told the container would be a 40 foot shared container and would ship within 2-3 weeks (three weeks would be January 2nd). I routinely asked for updates, and could not get a concise date it would ship, as we got closer to the end of December, I was told that if I want the car to ship sooner, I could pay an additional $2500 for a 20 foot container and that would ship on or around January 4th, already days after the original outside window date/cost. Of course I asked when the shared container would ship at our agreed upon price and was told that we do not have that information at this time. So would my car still be there now if I didn't pay the $2500 for the 20 foot container ? Sitting at the Schumacher holding area in Rotterdam for a month. I agreed to pay the $2500 EXTORTION money so I could get my car. I even sent a note to the president of the company who never replied. I got an invoice that was higher than the agreed to price, so of course we had to go back and get it revised, you cannot trust anything will go as planned. I was told at one point that everything I was told was factual, clearly it wasn't when it came to dates, time or in this case cost. Just before New Years, the shipper reached out to the previous owner to have more papers signed, he was not happy at all, in fact he assumed the car was in California already since it has been over a month since it left his house. He begrudgingly signed the documents. SO we had the papers signed, the car was there and I tried to pay the freight charge so it would ship when promised, I paid within an hour of getting the final invoice including the extortion payment, and only then found out the ship wasn't leaving until January 8th, nearly four weeks after the car arrived at their port location, ONLY because I agreed to the additional $2500 extortion amount.The 8th wound up as the 9th, then the 10th, and then the late in the day on the 11th. The original ship date was January 2nd for the 40 foot container. With he EXTRA $2500 made it over four weeks. I know they cannot control when a ship leaves, but it compounded the misery.... A few weeks before the ship was to dock in Los Angeles, I asked for an updated accounting of the taxes and duties due from me when it lands, previously I had an estimate that valued the car incorrectly, all I wanted was an updated estimate, more than 20 emails and a phone call later, I got what I requested. It was a VERY simple request I thought. Especially since the person I was dealing with is the company COO. A week before the shipment was to be delivered, I reached out to the COO and Car shipping supervisor and asked why the tracking information they provided hasn't updated in over a week. I was told the next day that it shows that the ship is scheduled to dock in the specified date. I asked how do we know if the information is still correct since it is not updating. I found the ship on a different website than they provided, it is showing the ship is at anchor after leaving the Panama Canal for 4 days, of course, the information I found on different websites was more accurate than what I was getting from Schumacher employees, the shipment is delayed again, I KNOW that they are not responsible for what happens on the ship, but being able to report on it should be their job. I am sure I have become a pain in their ass, but if they just communicated, I wouldn't have been. The car was finally released to me on February 26th, 90 days after agreeing to ship with this company. The car transport supervisor routinely doesn't answer direct questions without prodding . I keep all of the over 100 emails as proof of my comments above, it has been a very disconcerting experience and I do NOT recommend. This is not the first car Ive imported from Europe, the first experience was 40 days from the time the shipper was called until the boat arrived in Los Angeles, that was in 2023. 90 days may be acceptable to some people, but the lack of concise communication is a huge concern. If they would have provided updates with answers to future steps, most of this could have been avoided. read more

After that, they stop responding and in every occasion, remind you that you can get other service if you pay more money. I hire them for a very small move from USA to Europe. Every single thing went wrong. Because I had such small shipment, I decided not to pay insurance because they lied and told me that in the last 2 years no claims were made. When the delivery came to my house, my expensive belongings were wrapped on paper that was all tear out. Broken glass everywhere, packing was done just as if they wanted to make sure I regretted not getting insurance. Shipment was delays and I ended up having to pay import taxes. Daniel, always found a way to pass the blame on someone or something else. And of course, the fault was mine because of whatever reason. At the end, the fault was mine, I read the reviews and raised concerns about how bad they were but Daniel told me they are just from people who can't be satisfied, and still I hired them. I normally read reviews before making a decision but was caught up in the expectation this company could collect our personal possessions from our US home and ship them to our new home in less than 12 weeks. The time frame promised by Schumacher helped determine what items we would ship and influenced our decision not to 'fly' them over. Shipping overland saved us $2,000 ... which we eventually had to spend on clothing and other items as we waited and waited and waited for our items. In short, we saved no money! I have since read the reviews and the majority are terrible (with the exception of Schumacher's own web site ... what a surprise). I would not recommend Schumacher Cargo for 'personal' shipping. Just don't do it. Look elsewhere, consider the reviews and spend more money if you have too. It took 6 months for our personal items to be shipped from the US to New Zealand. The sales person basically lied to us from the get-go and even told us that if we could have everything ready in less than a week that it could be quicker. When I checked in after hearing nothing for 9 weeks I was told that our items were still in the US. The communication was non existent. If I did not ask for updates I would not receive any information or updates. On a positive note, the local delivery company and team in New Zealand (Conroy Removals) were fantastic. My shipping company in the UK made arrangements with this company to deliver. There is a 3 day window where it's included in the price I already paid but they won't deliver. So now they're charging me for each day after that window. Unfair since I'm available 2 out of the 3 days within the delivery block. Dealing with the company, employees gives me a pit in my stomach. Nobody is willing to actually talk to you. If given the choice I wouldn't choose this company for any transportation needs. Schumacher is the worst logistics company I have ever been involved with in 35 years of government service. Unresponsive to emails, will not answer the phone or return messages upon request. My shipment was sold to them as underwriters and it went to sh1t as soon as they laid their hands on it. I was charged an extra $537 for storage when they couldn't move it in time, which I grudgingly paid- if not I would have lost everything I own. Thanks for nothing you criminal ba$tard$. The crew that eventually did deliver my kit was polite and efficient, yet 4.5 hours late and obviously overworked. I would give Schumacher no stars if I could. The worst. And pi$$ on Gosselin too for selling my account to them with no notice to me whatsoever. Postscript- In fairness, nothing was broken or missing, so there is that. Half star. read more

Recently shipped lots of household goods/furniture from USA to Australia and the process was seamless from start to finish and took a lot of the stress away. Kimberly, and Mark were always extremely responsive with all my questions and concerns and all my things were packed and organized so so well by the team. Didn't take very long to arrive to Australian (2-3 months), and everything was in great condition upon arrival. The team on this end also (Palmers Relocations) were great. I'd read lots of negative reviews prior to this but couldn't have asked for a better experience during a difficult time. They were professional and responsive from beginning to end, and the pricing was very competitive. The initial move team in the US was great, and they packed everything with great care. On the other end, in Italy, the delivery was right on time and the crew unpacked and placed the goods in my home, quickly and safely. In March 2022 we hired Schumacher Cargo Logistic company to relocate from USA to Spain. As part of a relocation from the USA to Spain, we requested and accepted a quotation from Schumacher to transport our household goods and Vehicle from the USA to Spain in a sole 40ft container. While the container was in transit, it came to our attention, via the receiving logistics company, that our Vehicle was not present on the packing list or bill of lading. The receiving company (contracted by Schumacher directly) or ourselves were unable to get hold of anybody at Schumacher to provide support for the missing property. After multiple attempts via phone and email, we finally got someone in their operations team to acknowledge that there was an issue in their operations department and that the vehicle was not shipped with the rest of our household goods as quoted and paid for in the contract. We then have to chase Schumacher multiple times, trying to get hold of them by phone, email, etc. every attempt to communicate with them failed. After 3 weeks someone finally replied and let us know that our car is still in the warehouse in the USA, we have been waiting for the car 5 months already. We have then requested Schumacher to refund us for the money that we paid to ship the car and release the car, as we don't want to use them to ship the car to Spain anymore. They refused to do so, so the only option we have is to ship the car with them. They gave us the container number for the car back in June, I'm writing this review in September and still haven't heard back from them, they are not answering the phones, they are not replying to our emails, at this point we don't know where our car is and we are ready to sue them. All the best, Dennis Update 8 March 2019 I spoke with Martin Baker CEO of Schumacher at his request this evening to settle the claim. Unfortunately Mr. Baker has no interest in settling the claim. He refused to repair the damages to our home. We got an estimate for repairs after his two handyman said it was too much damage. He said our estimate was too high. I said I am happy to have your people do the repairs as we are not looking for money, but he refused. He offered to pay less than .60 cents on the dollar for the repairs and would not refund any money towards the services he failed to provide and failed to provide professionally. Being that the container cost was only $1,800 of the $24,000 move, Mr Baker was paid over $22,000 for packing boxes and dropping off at port, and then picking them up at port and delivering them. Unfortunately this logistics portion of the move was a complete failure. Look elsewhere. Schumacher are grossly over paid and grossly undeliver. Not only that they damage everything paling the way - both houses and over 25% of the goods Update 25 February 2019 I spoke with the CEO of Schumacher Friday evening and verbally agreed to settle the house damages portion of my claim. Upon receiving the settlement agreement, the CEO changed the agreement to include discharging Schumacher's liability for services not provided/provided poorly, liability for damaged goods (insurance claim in progress so this can't be legally discharged until insurance claim is made good) as well as the house damages. I tried over several emails to get the settlement agreement to align with our agreed discussions for house damag. Unfortunately Schumacher insisted on adding items to the agreement that we in fact never agreed. Schumacher have a duty to repair my house, which they refuse. They also refuse to tell me who their insurance carrier is to get it fixed. We are now in week 10 since the damage occurred. Completely unnecessary. He says it's the subcontractors and he needs to wait for them to resolve it. In fairness, I have no contract with them. I have over $60,000 in losses and dozens of excuses from Schumacher. I must say they are good at quick at BBB and Yelp responses. Unfortunately my emails, phone calls and voicemails have all lacked responses over over a week now. Be careful these lads are sleazy! Be careful. Update 22 February 2019: Schumacher are now telling me to claim the damage to my house they caused to my personal home insurance policy because the damage is too expensive! We still have not been reimbursed for services not provided and our insurance claim. Is still unpaid 9 wee Update 13 Feb 2019: Schumacher have still not refunded the monies promised for pet charges and no refund on services not provided, Dublin house has seems it's second handy many come out yesterday. He stated there was way too much damage and that Schumacher needed to hire a professional painter for at least a week to do the work. Now in the 8th week of the claim and the furniture restorers have been dispatched for 8 of 60+ items. Still no resolution to the other items despite having a full cover policy. Schumacher still claim to be working with me on all the above, but have done nothing towards resolving the above other than telling me I need to go off and arrange it all. If you can choose another company to ship your goods. We received a quote for about $2800 to ship our goods from US to NZ. They quoted a deliver date in NZ of late November. They picked up our items on July 6th. The guys who came to pack were wonderful, although said they were not quite prepared for how heavy some items were. Schumacher told us that the actual cost would be tallied once items were received at the warehouse, crated, and packed for shipping. We emailed multiple times asking for a final number for payment. Mind you we paid $2500 cash deposit before they came to get our stuff. Weeks went by and no word on the final cost. They send us insurance documents to fill out and we estimated our items to be around 10K in value. A week or so after filling out insurance paper work we get the final quote that our stuff was going to cost over 10K to ship and that it was already in a container to be shipped out the next day, August 19th. The invoice said we had to pay over 8K or there would be additional fees etc. At this point we had no choice. All of our stuff was in their custody and we felt stuck. We paid the invoice. A month later we received a communication that our shipment had been flagged by customs and we had to pay to have the ocean container moved and inspected. They told us our items were shipping a full month before this! We tried to ask for verification from customs or some sort of document proving that customs was charging but did not receive any proof. Our items were not actually shipped out of the US until October. We were advised the arrival date would now be estimated at 11/23. The delays were At this time-our items have just arrived in NZ. And we had to pay the additional $1600 for a "customs" before they would release our items for delivery. If I had known the cost would be over 4x the quote I would have not shipped anything and bought new stuff when I arrived for less money. Disgusting way to do business. Everyone at Schumacher Cargo with whom I dealt was professional and responsive. I was shipping some important family pieces to my daughters who now live in England and was a bit nervous about doing so. I should not have been. From first contact, Nathan Stowell, and then Kevin Page, answered my (millions of) questions patiently. The let me know what was happening every step of the way. The men who packed up the goods were careful and efficient and on time. The shipment arrived in England in good order, again handled well by the British firm that ultimately delivered my stuff to my daughter. I felt that the price I paid was reasonable, especially considering the service and care given to my possessions and to me. This is a warning: Think twice about hiring Schumacher Cargo Logistics. I was sorely disappointed and upset with their handling of my move from New York to Paris earlier this year. I was assured by my agent and contact handling the New York end, Cedric Drocourt, that despite my having been warned that moving companies were often untrustworthy, I shouldn't worry and that things would run smoothly. Up until the pickup date of my belongings, we communicated regularly and effectively. Or, so I thought. I worked very hard to prepare my belongings in an effort to facilitate a clear and well-organized shipment procedure. Being an architect, I was able to understand well he volume and measurement aspects of the transport. I personally prepared and packed 49 boxes which I labeled individually with my full name, Paris address and phone number. I left them open so that the movers could inspect them prior to sealing them for transport. I then hired MSS to crate 22 sculptures. They did a fantastic job! Everything was precisely numbered and ready to go. I emailed a detailed list of the numbered boxes and crates for transport to my agent at Schumacher. So far, so good. And that is when things started to go awry. The crew that arrived on moving day had evidently been assigned the job that morning or at the last minute and had no clue as to what they were picking up or of the contents of my belongings. The list that I had painstakingly made and sent had not been forwarded to them. I attempted to reach Mr. Drocourt, my agent, a number of times to no avail. At this point, as I had already paid the entirety of my moving bill, I was totally in the movers' hands. The movers showed up with an iPad. One of them proceeded to make a hand written inventory of the crates and boxes, not typed, on his iPad. The MSS technician on site remarked on this and asked why he was not typing and received no answer. The mover created a new numbering system, different than the one already on the boxes and crates which I had done. He wrote illegibly and with truncated/abbreviated words. In addition, the crates had arrows showing which way up they should be handled for the safety of the sculptures. The movers ignored the arrows and picked them up any which way. At the end of this exhausting day, I was presented with the iPad list which, again, was illegible, and I was told to sign it and that they had to leave. Given that Schumacher had been paid in full and that my belongings were now on the truck, though I found the list unreadable confusing and felt bullied, I had no choice but to sign t. The AGS delivery team in Paris was professional and very effective. That part of the transport was seamless, and I congratulate them. Unfortunately, once I had started to unpack and had carefully gone through all of the boxes and crates delivered, I discovered that two were missing and that one sculpture had been broken. One box contained my professional portfolio which is irreplaceable! Dorine Fradin at AGS made some suggestions and an attempt to track the missing boxes with no luck.
