I have purchased 4 separate vehicles from Schulte since 2016. 2 Outbacks, 1 Ascent & and Impreza for my daughter being the most recent purchase in September 2025. Sales process is exceptional. Never an issue. They teach me how to use the car & I have called them weeks later with questions, always happy to help. The service department- hands down the best. Communication top notch. Vehicles are not perfect so I know how the process works ' no fault of theirs but when I have a problem, they take care of it....IMMEDIATELY!!!! Jen is awesome at her job Had a transmission go out at 42k, they came & got it, brought me a loner, fixed it, brought it back. I didn't have to do anything but report the issue. Hit a deer. Took it to a local body shop & waited 10 days still no quote. Subaru came & got it, 2 hours later was totaled out & they turned it in to my insurance company. Had issues the first couple times bringing my car there for service. After leaving a bad review, they did make up for it by offering to pick up my car and drive 80 miles one way to perform all future oil changes since it is so difficult to get in for service. I never took them up on that offer but instead dropped my car off and was usually given a loaner. In order to get that service however, I had to contact Jeremy who is described as the "make people happy guy". Feeling like a nuisance asking for what should be standard service every time, I decided to stop by the express service like Schulte recommends, and they were unable to get my car in for a simple oil change for several hours. They did not offer a loaner vehicle or offer any options. The service advisor simply said he was told nothing until 3:00 or 4:00 and that I have to leave my car there. As a small business owner, it is impossible to get that kind of free time so I drove my 80 miles back home and attempted to schedule a service online. The soonest appointment was over two weeks out, for an oil change! Due to travelling requirements, I had to look at other options. The nearest Subaru service center is about 200 miles away, has many more advisors, and could get my car in the next day. I tried to contact Jeremy to cancel my appointment but couldn't even get a response. I have spoken very highly of Schulte Subaru for the last year and a half and I find this to be very disappointing. They did what they needed to so I would remove my negative review but as soon as I completed the surveys sent by Subaru of America, I no longer received the "VIP" service. If you read other reviews, it looks like poor service is becoming more common in in the last year or so. I once was certain that I would buy my next new car a Schulte Subaru, but due to the many issues experienced with the service department, I will not be buying anything there nor will I continue to recommend people to Schulte (I have gotten them at least 1 brand new Subaru Outback sale due to my previous referrals but they don't care about that) read more

Do NOT let them take your car threw there car wash go get a touch less one anywhere else. Went in for an oil change and came out with a car wash and scratches in at least 5 different spots, got the whole it wasn't are car wash talk ect, it's a new car that was spotless besides one ding in a completely different spot. And they buffed the worst one out but I still have scratches all over that I have to pay someone to get out. Service was terrible talked to me like I don't know anything, have had 6 Subarus plus other brand bought here and every time something comes up weather scheduling mix ups, them hitting a pole and having to get my door repainted. My guess is that it is one of the largest dealerships for Subaru in the country. The dealership has a large service center with comfortable waiting area. One of the best things is that this business is locally owned by Mike Schulte..who gives back to the community. They support the Humane Society. As far as Subaru as vehicles, there is nothing better for a cold snowy climate like South Dakota. The full time all wheel drive system in Subaru beats all the competition. These guys are so awesome! I was driving my subaru across the mountains, pulling a UHaul trailer, when the transmission light came on. Since we were just getting started on the mountains, we pulled off the interstate and found this dealership. It was a Saturday and the service department was already closed. I called them and the manager called out service person to come in. They checked the car all over and made a few minor adjustments that would improve the transmission performance. They even gave me a courtesy car so we could go get dinner while we waited. They were SO nice and didn't charge a penny! read more

I went in with no appointment and was immediately assisted even though they were busy. Offered a loaner car, although I didn't need it. In my prior home state, you never used the dealer for service. We recently bough a used car. Less than a week passed and the check engine light came on. We had this checked out and found out the car needs a new transmission. We asked all the right questions of the dealership, had a car fax, and was told their mechanics had checked the car out and found no issues with the car. I cannot say enough about how amazing I was taken care of at this dealership. I was traveling across the country with my son in a new to us 2006 Subaru when it began overheating when we were stopped on 1-90 due to an accident. I had been driving from Seattle and was headed to Iowa and was tired and totally overwhelmed when this happened. It was late on a Friday and I found a hotel as close to the dealership as I could. The people at Schulte Subaru Service were absolute angels. I called when they opened and Heather in Service immediately calmed me down with her reassurance and her ability to get me in as an emergency service. Brandon took care of EVERYTHING. Communicated with me what they were finding, including pictures, and had me in a loaner car while they solved the problem. Lee , the service tech, diagnosed the problem as a faulty radiator seal, waited while they got the part in and stayed late to check to make sure that the problem was solved and we were safe to get back on the road. Brandon was so helpful getting us back on the road and would take nothing, saying it was their pleasure to be able to help in situations like this and that they were just providing the type of service they want to be known for. I recently stopped in to talk about buying or leasing. I'm not sure if I got a new sales person and while they were very nice it felt like they weren't really listening or understanding what I was looking for. I gave very specific requirements in terms of estimated payments, but I was kept being shown the absolute newest and expensive vehicles. After I would keep asking about if it would be in line with my budget and either the responses were ambiguous. In the end the sales person talk to their manager who eventually told me there wasn't really anything meeting my requirements. Again, very nice people and the facility, but what could have been a 10 minute discussion took about 45 minutes too long. I respect trying to find something that would be within my range, and yeah it's sales, but I was very clear with my expectations and I wasn't going to budge either. I'm sure certain sales practices work with others, but not with me. I ended up buying used at another dealer. Maybe next time! read more

Last week I received an e-mail from Subaru of Sioux Falls advertising their online scheduling for the service department. I've been trying to get in for an oil change for a while but my busy schedule has prevented me from doing so. I took a couple minutes and registered online for an oil change with the concierge pickup for the following Monday. It's now Monday and my oil change is scheduled for a couple hours from now. I never received a call as to where they need to pick my car up. I finally called them and they couldn't find my appointment in their system. I have an e-mail confirmation so I know I scheduled it. Then the person I talked to said they can't come pick my car up until a few hours after my scheduled appointment, and that if I want to schedule a concierge pickup I need to call instead of schedule online (even though its an option online). I had to cancel my oil change because my schedule is full later this afternoon. I was told to call back once I know my schedule for the rest of the week. Whats the point of having online scheduling if it doesn't work?!?! Very annoyed. read more

0 stars would be better. Let's talk customer service: after spending 2k for new tires, tune up, and a few upgrades the tire goes flat. After 2 "repairs" guess what keeps going flat? And they refuse to replace it. Also I had the same car towed in after hitting a deer. You'd think when they replaced the front fender they'd check the front lights? Nope. No high beams. No fog lights. All of this is compounded by the fact that we live over a hour away- so it takes a lot out of our days to drive (or tow) our car to them. They really don't seem to care. Customer service does not appear to be on their agenda. And the owner- Mike- not the nicest person you'll speak to during you day. I love Subaru, and I've never had this kind of an ordeal with a Subaru dealership before. Save yourself the time and energy suck by staying away! read more

BEWARE! The short version of the story: worst service, sales, and managers even possible. HORRIBLE OWNER (Mike). Brand new car they couldn't fix and wouldn't help me. AND I got called incompetent!? Alright, here's the long version of the story. I purchased a brand new 2013 Impreza from the salesman John, although I was not comfortable with the deal that they made, I went with it anyways. I was not told until I was signing the papers that the only way the got me approved was to add on an extended warranty to the deal. Very unprofessional. After having the car for around 3 weeks, it began not starting at times. I brought it into service and Chris and Travis were great! The salesman John however, acted as if he didn't know who I was when he noticed I was not happy. They supposedly figured out what was wrong and had to order parts. I was told the parts would be in the next day. Three days later I called to find out the parts were there, they just didn't call me. So I brought my car in again and they 'fixed' it. Two weeks later it was doing the same thing again! I brought it in again and they kept it for MULTIPLE days without calling me and letting me know what was going on. Then they 'fixed' it again. A few days later... it was still doing it. Finally I brought it in again and they had a 'subaru engineer' look at it. And again they 'fixed' it. A week later, it was back at it, not starting again. Frustrated I went into the dealership to talk to Mike, the OWNER, (who was helping in the sale of the car as well). Mike didn't have time for me. So I talked to Jeremy. I asked them what they were going to do about the fact my car was not starting and they could not fix it. I expressed my concerns and Jeremy claimed that they did not even once duplicate my concern, of the vehicle not starting. I argued and finally he grabbed Chris, the Service Advisor, who suddenly seemed as though he was my natural born enemy! He also agreed with Jeremy (the manager) and stated he never duplicated my concern and there was nothing wrong with my vehicle. I made them print copies of the invoices and low and behold it said on EVERY SINGLE one of them that they duplicated my concerns. I asked Jeremy if they were going to get me a new vehicle or take it back as a lemon when he argued that SD does not have a lemon law stating how many times it has to be fixed. I disagreed with him, telling him it was 4 times and that my car will be back in for service the next day for the fourth time. (I am very aware of the laws of SD.) He got angry and starting calling me incompetant and escorted me outside. The whole time, Mike refused to talk to me. I called Subaru of America, which they are taking the car back as a lemon now, and they are finally taking care of the situation.. bottom line, NO ONE at Schulte Subaru belongs in the car business. EXPECIALLY, Mike Schulte. I am also getting ahold of the dealer inspector of South Dakota, Ron Resve, as I suggest anyone that has had a problem with Schulte Subaru does as well. I may be young (18) and a women, but do NOT call me incompetent when it comes to the SD law or cars. (I work at a car dealership, I am not stupid by any means.) read more

So I went in to just look like most people, well first I notice a few classic cars in the show room a 1974 Italian sports car and a few other sweet rides. Then I meet the dealership cat, yes they saved a cat that a technician found in the dumpster while taking out the trash now that cat has a group of technicians, and sales staff to look after him. He's cute and playful, and seems to run the place ( he has to okay all deals). Then the helpful staff are friendly and they let you be. No pressure just answers and great service. Saved our lives, nearly....95 degrees on a 3,000 miles driving vacation when our air conditioning stopped working. We called and the receptionist said to stop in even though we did not have an appointment. At 4:30pm, Travis began working on the car and found/fixed the problem within an hour. This dealership deserves more than 5 stars. They were kind and efficient. The waiting room is beyond comfortable (actually I wanted to move in).
