BATE - We worked with a nice salesman who was lovely. He even sent us nice places to eat in the area since we were from out of town. We drove 5 hours from the twin cities to look at a car that was a great deal for the year and miles. We were assured it was in great condition and that the salesman could not find anything wrong with it. He even sweetly offered a small discount because I am a teacher. I was excited to buy my wife a nice car. LIES - upon arriving, I immediately noticed countless small rust spots along the entire passenger side of the car that did not appear in the photos. Not only on the passenger side, but also on the front, inside the doors etc. The nice salesman was clearly new and incompetent, so went to get his manager Jason Barr. Jason then proceeded to downplay the situation and tell us "all cars in Minnesota are like that" (not true), "clay bar" solution could fix it (temporarily), and that even our car had rust (ours has 200k miles with two dots, not the same). Basically all around sleazy sales tactics. Luckily I have a friend who owns an auto body shop, called him, and he told me to run as far away as I could. The salesman was clearly lying, it was always going to be an issue and would get worse. INCOMPETENCE - After we clearly said, "no", all the pressure and lying stopped and Jason was suddenly very apologetic and kind. We had put $2500 down on our credit card as a down payment to hold it until the weekend when we could drive down. Instead of refunding our money, he instead put an additional $2500 on our credit card! It took half a week to get all our money back while they maxed out our credit card. He clearly wanted to avoid this negative review so he offered us gift cards to a place that was closed and to another that was only good in Sioux Falls. Smooth. LESSON - they might have a car you want to buy. Get it checked out by a mechanic and don't trust ANYTHING they say. Also, they probably found a way to hide all the rust on this car so they can sucker someone else into buying it. I hope you read this post before you do.

I asked if they planned to look at my timing belt to confirm if it was cracked or I could delay the change, they said they visualized it (lies) & they assured me it needed to be changed because it was cracked (not cracked at removal @ different shop). Only fluids systems were recommended for flushing/change. No sooner than a month later, I went to another shop for a leaking axel and they found my brakes were metal on metal... which was missed and usually included in an "inspection."

A Subaru Impreza found at a Subaru dealer seemed good on paper and in the photos. But I NEVER accept a vehicle unless I run Carfax, AutoCheck and two free VIN history reports ("NICB VINCheck" and VINHISTORY "dot" com). Some bad vehicle are being sold by good and bad dealers. And sometimes Carfax misses stuff AutoCheck catches, and vice versa. In this case, there was no contradicting info, and only positive and helpful neutral details in these reports. BUT THIS IS NOT ENOUGH. No matter what anyone says, a used car is not worth buying if you cannot have a quality, reputable and competent shop perform a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Chris's Auto Repair (Anthony, Travis and company) did exactly what we needed and more. They not only did everything to evaluate the mechanical condition of the vehicle, but looked for evidence of past accidents/abuse. They even went into the car to tell us if it had any distinct odors that would turn us off. My customer and I made it known that we were VERY concerned about the cosmetic condition of the car. So, in addition to a full mechanical, structural inspection and road test, the tech's at Chris's provided us with a thorough understanding of the car's body (scratches, dings, dents, etc as well as any cracks in the vinyl bumpers and surrounds). There were a number of things that were not known that were revealed. The tire tread was beginning to separate, the front fascia/grill area was cracked (from someone banging into a cement parking barrier, and a number of less important items that were good to know up front. These were items that the dealer did not reveal to us. In the end, my customer decided that there was nothing so bad with the vehicle that she couldn't either live with or address when it was purchased and shipped to Denver. I could not be happier with the thorough and conscientious way that Chris's evaluated the Impreza. My customer was very glad she spent the money and entrusted this pre-purchase inspection to Chris's. Took my 2013 Dodge ram 4X4 to the newly located GRAHAM TIRE on North Cliff Ave in Sioux Fall. I…read moreknew I needed brakes on the rear, but figured I'd probably need them on the front as well. The service manager gave me a call to let me know the diagnosis, and I did not need brakes on the front, rather I had two locked up calipers on the rear. Add to that I wanted them to rectify the E-brake cable which was hanging down and is a common issue on Dodge RAMS. Long story short, GRAHAM fully diagnosed the problems and then without any pressurized sales tactics, suggested I could do the E-brake repair or not. I elected not to do the E-brake repair because I do not use that very often if at all. Overall, let's put it this way - they treated me right, they did not repair anything or suggest something be repaired that did not need to be at the moment, and in the end price was fair and acceptable. Oh, and one last note: Despite the fact that it was evident I needed tires, they did not even try to upsell me on tires. Most shops would've attempted to pressure you into getting tires. Rest assured they will be on my list when it comes time to buy tires.

Chris, the tech came out and spoke to me while he was checking the problem. He is totally knowledgeable about car mechanic.
