Chris's auto routinely charges higher for diagnostic, parts, and labor than the Mercedes dealership. Not only are the services a higher cost, they blanket diagnosis an issue. If you replace all the possible parts, of course the issue could be fixed. When asked if they're comfortable being more expensive while providing less service, the service manager said "We absolutely are". Avoid at all costs. read more

I had my lower control arms replaced about a year ago and had an alignment done there. I was driving from the mountains of tahoe to Reno when I noticed the steering was shaking uncontrollably. I luckily managed to get down the pass and took it to a shop there immediately. The shop was fortunate enough to have enough extra time to put the car on a lift and have a look at the problem. What they found was the passenger front right tie rod was almost completely off the threads and the left was extremely loose as well. I have improper wearing of the front right tire because of it and now have to replace 4 BF Goodrich KO2's because of it. They cost almost $300 dollars to replace. I called Chris's auto to explain the situation and Emily @ Chris's auto repair West said that the owner would get back to me the next day. The owner did not get back to me the next day and instead I had to call back several days later and speak to Emily again. She basically dismissed the issue as well as the owner and pointed me to there insurance agency Tech Net. I've now been on the phone with them for 45 minutes and counting. Emily mentioned that alignment issues and improper tire wear isn't backed by insurance claims so I might be on the phone for nothing but it's worth a shot. The whole entire problem I'm having is stemming from an improper tightening of tie rods or an improper alignment of the tires from the initial repair just a little over a year ago. My tires would have plenty of life in them otherwise. Hopefully this all gets worked out but this was my first and my last experience I will be having with Chris's auto repair of any kind and I don't recommend dealing with this Auto Shop. If that tie rod came off the threads I could have lost steering and crashed off the side of mountain and I might not be writing this review in the first place. There customer service and accountability needs a lot of work. The fact that I have to take time out of my day and be on the phone with there insurance agency over shit work done by mechanics at there shop should be noted. In addition, they could have asked for more information. My mechanic at Auto by Allan here in Incline Village told me the shop should be held accountable for shotty work which is a causing 4 expensive new tires. read more

These guys are THE BEST! They helped me out when I found myself in a little situation with a flat tire! I live about an hour away so when I ended up with a flat tire I knew I needed to get that fixed so I wasn't driving on the interstate worth a donut, I called them and they were able to squeeze me in. They are so friendly and it's obvious they care about people's safety. They informed me that I also needed new tires and an inspection, they were really busy and didn't have time for all that, but they could at least patch my tire now so I could get back home. Our engine light came on so went to Advanced Auto and they tested and said it was the drive shaft directional sensor and the cost for the part was $40.00 to $60.00. Took the car to Chris's Auto and asked that they just change the sensor. He said they have to go through the whole car. Advised just want the sensor replaced. They did an entire car review for $125.00 and the final cost after only changing the sensor was $431.69. They listed the price of the part at $125.74. At least double the price from Advanced Auto. Extremely disappointed in this shop and will never be back. read more

I'm from out of town. I professionally help people find high quality, low mileage used cars, within a customer's budget. A Subaru Impreza found at a Subaru dealer seemed good on paper and in the photos. But I NEVER accept a vehicle unless I run Carfax, AutoCheck and two free VIN history reports ("NICB VINCheck" and VINHISTORY "dot" com). Some bad vehicle are being sold by good and bad dealers. And sometimes Carfax misses stuff AutoCheck catches, and vice versa. In this case, there was no contradicting info, and only positive and helpful neutral details in these reports. BUT THIS IS NOT ENOUGH. No matter what anyone says, a used car is not worth buying if you cannot have a quality, reputable and competent shop perform a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Chris's Auto Repair (Anthony, Travis and company) did exactly what we needed and more. They not only did everything to evaluate the mechanical condition of the vehicle, but looked for evidence of past accidents/abuse. They even went into the car to tell us if it had any distinct odors that would turn us off. My customer and I made it known that we were VERY concerned about the cosmetic condition of the car. So, in addition to a full mechanical, structural inspection and road test, the tech's at Chris's provided us with a thorough understanding of the car's body (scratches, dings, dents, etc as well as any cracks in the vinyl bumpers and surrounds). There were a number of things that were not known that were revealed. The tire tread was beginning to separate, the front fascia/grill area was cracked (from someone banging into a cement parking barrier, and a number of less important items that were good to know up front. These were items that the dealer did not reveal to us. In the end, my customer decided that there was nothing so bad with the vehicle that she couldn't either live with or address when it was purchased and shipped to Denver. I could not be happier with the thorough and conscientious way that Chris's evaluated the Impreza. My customer was very glad she spent the money and entrusted this pre-purchase inspection to Chris's. I brought my car here to get it checked out after I had lost control of my car on an icy day, and I'm so thankful I didn't go somewhere else. Last year I had some tire issues. I got them fixed (in Fargo) but my car never felt normal to me. I brought it in (in Fargo) a few times since then, but nothing was found to be wrong. The guys at Chris's took their time to look my car over. Once they found what was wrong, they were honest in how serious it was and how soon it needed to be fixed. Thankfully, nothing was the result of my trip to the ditch. All in all, the fantastic service and upfront honesty are incredibly refreshing for an auto repair shop. Never had so much fun getting my oil changed. These guys are a kick, the perfect mix of competence and friendliness, AND they have a shop dog who snacks on Girl Scout cookies! I was traveling through Sioux Falls and it was time to get my oil changed. They squeezed me into their already-busy schedule and had me out in under two hours. They take hospitality and customer service very seriously, even having received an award from the city for service to the community, providing oil changes to those who couldn't afford them. They minded the details, told me of a pending issue with my Prius, didn't try to upsell me on anything - and the owners and employees just seemed to enjoy each other's company. I had a very bad experience here where they did a complete inspection and estimate that is included showing what was wrong and the cost to replace the clutch. I had read other google reviews where they talked about this bait and switch tactic, but really needed to see it to believe it. I was harassed multiple times to replace straps that made the vehicle undriveable for an additional $400. When I refused because I knew this was overbilling Norma stated they would only take cash from me then. When the vehicle was picked up they had extra charges they never mentioned that made the bill hundreds of dollars higher than their quotation to fix the vehicle. I have posted the actual cost to buy the straps locally for under $100 which are easy to change in your driveway by removing and replacing 4 bolts. The vehicle was completely driveable and used to pick up the new straps and drive around town prior to going home to change the straps. I assume my clutch was fixed properly and will hold up. If it doesn't I will update the review. For now I recommend a business that doesn't change the price when you pick up the vehicle, and tell you that you need work which you can do yourself for very little cost. read more

I took my car to get an oil change and was offered to pay more for a full inspection, tires rotated, fluids checked and filled so I paid for it. They didn't check or fill my windshield washer fluid which was empty. I didn't fill it because it's included with the oil change normally so I counted on them to do it. My tires were never rotated and when I took my car back to have it done they tell me they can't do it because of the condition of the tires. I was denied a refund and absolutely no attempt was made to make it right. They admitted that the rotation wasn't done because it wasn't safe but NEVER INFORMED ME! I got an apology for them putting my life in danger! I have serious doubts that they did any kind of service to my car because the simplest fluid wasn't filled and the tires weren't rotated nor was I informed that they were not safe! I have never been treated so horribly like it's my fault they didn't do the job I paid them to do! I'm disgusted with their customer service and absolute lack of quality service! I will never go to Chris's Auto Repair for service again! I do not recommend anyone else go there because I don't want anyone to get treated and cheated like I was! They lied to me and stole from me and expect that I just have to accept it!! Worst place ever!! read more

These guys are a lifesaver and went above and beyond to make sure we were safe and wouldn't need another repair during our cross country trip. The even fixed a botched repair job we previously had done. When we called from the road they dropped other projects and made us a priority. The owner even drove 30 mikes round trip to get us the parts we needed. Even better, the waiting room is equipped with wifi, beverages and Netflix. The form requires at least one star for the review. I wouldn't have marked any stars if it was possible. The shop charges customers $55.00 for a 'full inspection' when the car is there. I have no idea why, but they do. We saw no sign advising that, and were not told that when speaking with them on the phone before dropping the car off. The car needed 'Part X' for the repair. My net search for the OEM part showed it was $240.00; the shop marked it up to $500.00. They refused to show us the invoices for any of the parts used in the repair. I can agree that the shop is entitled to a customary mark-up on the parts price. This appeared to be more than 100% markup. No discussion, no anything. Very dissatisfied. Can not recommend. I can't rave enough about this place! We have been here a few times since moving to the area and we won't go anywhere else. They have been so helpful in finding the problems with our 2 cars and getting them fixed quickly and without breaking the bank. They have been courteous and helpful and honest each and every time we've been there, the office is clean, they go out of their way to help (they stayed late tonight so that we could come get our truck), and they answer all of our (probably silly) questions without making us feel dumb or like we are wasting their time. We were on our way from colorado to Minnesota and we slid into a ditch which took us 3 hours to get out of and then we found out the power steering went out in the car. We went to 3 different auto shops who said they were booked up but chris's auto said they would fit us in to their schedule and help us as we were in dire need of help. Needless to say, the guys at chris's auto went above and beyond to help us. One of the guys even drove us to McDonalds to get some food while we waited and he had an adorable and friendly dog to keep us company also. I do not recommend anyone ever going here. I needed work done on my suspension and that is why I went there. They did the inspection and wired me almost $4000 to do all kinds of things including an oil change 300 miles before it was due and flushing all the systems which where semi recently done. I tried to just have them fix the issue I went in for initially and the process they quoted me were still ridiculous on top of the inspection fee. I asked for courtesy rides before I came in there and they said they do it or I would have went somewhere else. Well when I decided to wait on having anything fixed at the time and get a 2nd opinion I got my "courtesy ride" back to pick it it. Since I didn't have them fix anything they charged me $15 for each ride plus the inspection. To make matters worse the guy at the front was yelling at his employees and it was uncomfortable and I was pretty sure I'd never go there again, not should you. The parking lot is so full you can't get in and out. The guy pulling my vehicle up squeezed between 2 vehicles and had an inch of room on sides. I would never want to see that done again cuz that's an accident waiting to happen. After he finally got it pulled up I noticed I scratch on my door that wasn't there before and the guy told me he just turns wrenches and said he'd get the guy that was yelling at people. I declined and got in my vehicle and left and we'll never go there again. I don't recommend anyone going there ever for that matter. read more

Can't say enough about this place. We've been struggling with a terrible screeching noise from our Kia for years. We've taken it back to the dealer (Billion Kia) multiple times, paid thousands of dollars, and have never had the issue fixed. Finally decided to try someone new and we are so thrilled. It only took a few hours to get a "diagnosis", and they were incredibly upfront about costs, reasoning behind the repairs, and how to pay or approve service. After dealing with the terrible customer service and phone tag with the dealer in past experience, this was phenomenal. PLUS they had to deal with their entire computer system being shut down for a few hours, and they still had better service than the other guy. Our car runs without any screeching and feels like the day we bought it. Overall the entire cost was $350 cheaper than we have ever paid at Billion, and Chris's did WAY more for us including battery replacement, oil change, belts, etc. Highly highly recommend Chris's Auto Repair! Bonus that they have Lightning McQueen out front, a huge hit with my 2 year old son. Thank you again!! read more

There's no better mechanic team in this city than Chris's. This is a cumulative review- they've saved my butt multiple times. The waiting area is incredible, or the last couple of years they've turned it into an incredibly professional shop with Netflix and Wi-Fi, toys for the kids, polite and prompt service. Chris and his team will keep you updated and will continue to communicate until you are happy. They help the community- a free oil change here or there, a fundraising Drive every so often. I was left in the middle of winter with a broken passenger window, and Chris got me in and out quick! Another time I needed a ball bearing for my Taurus, and Chris was right there to help, pick the vehicle up from work, had it back before I got off. I'm from out of state, which was a good reason to screw over me.I ask them to check my brake shoes, change my motor oil and filter, replace two sensors, (040&041).I asked them to check my brakes, and "Callme before they done anything and give me an call before working on my car. They charged me $430.00 for the work, never called me before doing any work,(They didn't). My (Disabled Plaque)was taken, my censor lights are still on!After the told me to drive the car for a few days... I drove it for a week! They're still on now! I looked at my brake pads, all of my pads are 'still good till this day. I give them less then a 1/2 of star, and promise I'ld never go back to the lousey blasters again. This had been the most amazing experence at this auto shop that I have ever had. They were bussy when I drove up but they knew my car would be a quick fix so they squezzed me in and found out I had a frozen batter cell. Got the batter at AutoZone but I was 4 months out of warnty. They workers here a chris know the local AutoZone very well and they were able to get me a new battery for FREE and a renewed 3 year warnty!
