    Cool tavern

Surprised to come across this.. Feels very American, the type you see in Buffalo, Detroit, Cleveland. Packed on a Wednesday, half price wings.. Great hockey memorabilia interior.

The gang found itself in the Etobicoke area after working up a sweat for the better part of the day. Needless to say, we were hungry, so we took a chance on the closest place that had food in the area; Schuey's Bar & Grill. Schuey's is a medium sized sports bar that dresses the part. There are notable hockey jerseys hung across the ceiling, posters of sports figures everywhere you look, and televisions at every desirable viewing angle. With plenty of booth, bar, and standard seating, if you're looking for somewhere to sit, drink, and watch the game, Schuey's is a solid choice. That being said, we had no interest in sports that night, and our hearts were set on good food. Between myself and a friend, we ordered nachos, poutine, and fish and chips. In order of preference from most preferred to least, I'd say fish and chips, nachos, then poutine. If we're being honest, it's hard to mess up a fish and chips, since you've just got to batter your fish, deep fry it, and serve it up with tartar sauce and fries. Still, mission accomplished. As a self-described nacho connoisseur, I can say that these nachos were middle of the road. They had their upsides and downsides. The chips had a satisfying texture and density, and were toasted, which I welcomed. We ordered our nachos with chili, which I definitely suggest since every chip that I got that had a healthy amount of chili on it was a great bite. Lastly, the various toppings paired well with whatever cheese blend they chose. I got a little annoyed when the plate was served with two shot glass equivalents of salsa and sour cream. We were able to ask for more, but the amount that we were originally served was laughably inadequate to eat the nachos. (We actually laughed.) As for topping coverage, as with all nachos, it was great on top, but surprisingly not horrendous beneath that top layer. It wasn't great, but it wasn't horrendous. If I were to simply take the food and rate the experience, I would say that everything was passable. Still, I left Schuey's with a sour taste in my mouth because the service didn't quite cut it. I get the feeling that the bar staff weren't used to serving large groups. We were left with no water for weirdly long periods of time, the waitress gave us a pained and annoyed look when we suggested we were going to split the bill between the two of us, and there wasn't much of an attempt made at cordiality. Again, if I were in the area and wanted to watch the game with drinks, I would consider Schuey's... but even then I'd think twice about it. Head to Schuey's if you'd like. You won't have a bad time, but it probably won't be the best.

I don't think that I had ever dined at a Fionn McCool in my life before this visit. Yes, I lead a sheltered life. After spending a day getting my CPR certification at work (I passed with flying colours and I miss my mannequin... haha!), I needed dinner. I decided to head back to the hotel and give Fionn McCool's a try. I hauled my stuff back to my room and simply headed over to this restaurant with my purse. I was immediately greeted at the host area. The woman seated me in a quaint corner. The padded bench seats were high, even for someone like me who is fairly tall. I was comfy. My server came over roughly seven minutes later. I didn't mind. It was enough time for me to review the beverages and food menus. I wanted wings. I ordered 1.5 pounds of wings in the buff (that is, they don't have any flour coating on the wings). I went with salt and pepper. The wings come with veggies. I chose ranch dip. I also ordered a Diet Pepsi. The raspberry blood orange cosmo intrigued me. I went for it. It came out first. It was delicious. The fruit flavours worked well together. There were crushed raspberries at the bottom of my glass. I didn't waste anything. I highly recommend this drink. My wings came next. Another server brought them out and indicated that I be careful. They were hot out of the fryer. I got two drumsticks out of the batch of wings. They were yummy! I was so happy. I liked dipping my celery and carrot sticks into the ranch dressing. Wings are in the appetizer section of the menu. It can completely serve as dinner. I felt like dessert. I asked my server for a dessert menu. She seemed so happy that I wanted more. I ordered the brownies and vanilla ice cream. I was so happy when my dessert came to my table. The presentation was cheerful and nice. I dug in. The brownies were moist, fudgy, and scrumptious. Vanilla ice cream balanced out and complemented the brownies nicely. My server came over and asked what I thought. I was in heaven eating everything. This eatery surprised me. I sat there and realized that there was live music. An older man was playing his guitar and singing during my entire time there. He played a bunch of classic rock songs. He had a great voice. I appreciated his talent and I dined, clapping after each of his songs without flinging my wings across the restaurant. I didn't realize that Fionn McCool's accepts Scene points. It's known as the Pubs on the app. I managed to get 20x the points my loading an offer on my app. Nice! My server was friendly and helpful. She got my bill and asked whether I wanted to charge my meal to my room. I paid with a credit card instead. Easy peasy. There is plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. Many folks drop by to watch the game (Leafs were playing when I was here), have a drink or meal, and leave. I had a great experience. The manager came over to ask how I was. He also said goodbye to me when I left. I haven't seen that in a while. I hope to eat here more often. (449)

One of my companions said the chicken pot pie was dry, but my mini Yorkies were excellent, as was the sticky toffee pudding that all three of us ordered - no sharing for us! It was too good. Atmosphere was of a neighborhood Irish pub - they pulled it off, considering this was a hotel bar.

From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive without ever feeling overbearing. Our server checked in at the right times, kept drinks topped up, and made sure everything came out just the way we ordered it. I ordered a steak and it was cooked exactly to my preference, with a great sear on the outside and tender, juicy meat inside. You can really taste the quality of the beef and seasoning, and it arrived hot and full of flavor. For the price, the portion size and quality are excellent, and it honestly felt like a much more expensive steakhouse experience without the high price tag. The sides were fresh and tasty, and there were lots of options on the menu for different tastes, but the steak is the star of the show. Overall, the value is hard to beat. I'll definitely be coming back and highly recommend Chuck's Roadhouse to anyone looking for a great steak dinner at a great price.

I take Attwell Drive often. At the corner of this street and Reading Court, I always see the Residence Inn. I didn't know that there was this Moxies at Sandman Signature Toronto Hotel further down until I did a search for Moxies near my workplace. I love happy hour deals these days. I came here after work last Wednesday to check out this eatery. It's at the end of a secluded cul de sac. I actually want to stay at Sandman because it was so beautiful and quiet when I was there. There was plenty of parking. I backed into an available spot and walked in. I was immediately greeted by a cheerful female staffer. She led me to a booth near the corridor to the hotel from the restaurant. It was also where the washrooms were. I was near a couple of women with a baby. The baby was sweet and was quiet. It was my lucky day! This Moxies does have happy hour between 2 pm and 5 pm. I got here just after 3 pm. Perfect! The interior is gorgeous. It's the prettiest Moxies that I have ever dined in. I'd come back just to be in such a beautiful setting. I liked the separate room with the Blue Jays game on. There were a couple of guys watching the game there. Another special detail about this Moxies is that there's a test kitchen menu. It was my first time seeing it at any Moxies. My server was Joe. He was polite and nice. I got these items: - Hibiscus refresher - Dry ribs - Miso tuna crispy rice The hibiscus refresher was a part of the test kitchen menu. I got the non-alcoholic version. It was delicious. The hibiscus was so good with lime and cinnamon flavours. You can add tequila, but I liked it the way that it was. When I lived in Winnipeg, my go-to order was dry ribs with whatever salad I was craving. I relived half of it by getting dry ribs. It was great having them again. They were meaty and yummy, with the perfect amount of seasoning and salt. I was happy! I didn't know what miso tuna crispy rice was. So, I had to order it. It's essentially sushi-like pieces. There were six pieces of perfectly crispy rice mini bricks topped with miso tuna and mayo. I loved the contrast between the crunchy rice and fresh tuna mixture. It was delightful having this appetizer. I needed a drink. The only downside was that my server didn't drop by until I was done with my appetizers. I ordered a Diet Coke when he did, which I got immediately. It was much needed and icy! I was way too full to get any dessert. I got the bill instead. I tipped and tapped. Done! I used the women's washroom before I left. It was super fancy. It had a seating area in the middle of all single stalls. Wow! I'd come back here simply to enjoy good food and drinks in the most gorgeous eatery. Such a wonderful gem of a find! (181)

Watching it, it reminded me of Shanghai and their clubs with all the lights, and electric music. Immediately I was excited! So I called them and made a reservation on Monday for Friday for 5 people. I got in contact with Alex, the manager, he set us up for Friday and answered any question I had. As this place is very new, there weren't many images or a website set up when I found them, and I was still unsure if they were open due to COVID. But they are open! I informed my girls of this place, they were thrilled and our group quickly turned from 5 to 7. Luckily, I called Leng Keng back asking if I could increase the size of my party & they were able to accommodate me! During our reservation: Coming to the place, the exterior isn't the most attractive setting. But as we looked past it, inside was just like the video that I had seen. It took me back to the time I was out with my expat friends in Shanghai club hopping. Covid protocols: Since we're still in a pandemic, Leng Keng had great protocols emplaced. As we showed our IDs to security, we signed in with our name and phone numbers. Once inside, there were masks & hand sanitizer available at the door. The tables were well distanced and people would stay within their allocated booths. The atmosphere of Leng Keng is extremely beautiful, nothing like I've ever seen in other Toronto bars/lounges/clubs. The lights are constantly moving & changing colours very beautifully as electric music plays in the background. We were greeted by very nice servers that showed us to our table. Once seated, we were able to take in the place more, & my friends were truly impressed by the place. For food we ordered Calamari and French Fries to share. For drinks we ordered Cosmos, Rum & Coke, Margaritas & a couple shots of Vodka. Everything tasted well, besides the Calamari that was slightly too fishy, the Margaritas didn't come with limes or salt on the rim of the cup. Other than that, this place was magnificent & we do believe Leng Keng has great potential in being the next trending spot in Toronto. We will be back soon! Thank you!
