We were at wits end with our 8 month old sheepadoodle Ozzie. 8 weeks of puppy training at another…read moreplace did nothing. Our dog was constantly pulling on the leash while walking, my wife's arm was always sore. We are amazed at the progress, we just completed a novice class. We now have a well behaved dog on walks and have the tools we need to correct any new issues. Thanks for saving our mutt from the pound, Eric !

Hate leaving bad reviews, but... this class isn't worth the money…read more In short: Too much talk much and not enough practice. Very little learned. In details: Eric tells a lot of stories and then runs out of time to let us run thru the exercise to make sure everyone got the concept. He isn't very friendly or approachable. Yells at people when they do it wrong, but doesn't say what they are doing wrong. The training room is large, but there are 10-12 dogs in there, so it feels very crowded. The acoustics in the large space is terrible, hard to understand what he is saying for normal people, never mind older people or those that English isn't their 1st language. Ridiculous late policy, claims you can't be 5 minutes late, yet he talks so much and repeats the same thing so many times, doesn't really matter when you come in. But sure, it's nice when everyone is there on time. Doesn't allow any dog interaction, as such people aren't able to chat either, so you end up standing there for nearly 1 hour listening to him, do a bit of practice and back out the door. For 10 weeks of class, very few commands are learned. Recall class was very weak, not a major emphasis as advertised. This might be a personal preference, but some people might want to know. The training feel fear based, or as he might say respect based, not a positive type of training. Physical corrections are harsh. All in all, too expensive, little practice, too little learned, Eric is too harsh with people and dogs.

It was embarassing daily when she barked and lunged at people for no apparent reason. I had my first 2 hour lesson with Jason last night, and the difference I can see in my Teeka already has made me enjoy our walk this evening, instead of me feeling uneasy of her reactions towards people we pass on our walks. I would highly recommend Jason as he was able to assess my dog's unwanted bullying behaviour as "guarding me" in my house and in public. He showed me how to take control at home, and and on our walks. I look forward to our next 3 sessions and a calmer and socially graceful pup.

Jason is the puppy whisperer. It's as simple as that. He understands dogs and dogs understand him…read more My puppy is my first dog and I had no idea what I was doing. My fear of doing the wrong thing was affecting my dog and was making me an ineffective dog owner. Jason corrected my behaviour so that we could correct my puppy's behaviour. She's 6 months old right now and is a very relaxed and well adjusted pup. Nobody ever tells you just how much work having a puppy is and Jason put my mind at ease and gave me the confidence to take her out and not over react to situations because now I KNOW that she will come when called. With Jason's help I learned to enjoy my puppy and everything that comes with being a puppy. I realize that her puppyhood is short lived and I am enjoying every minute of it. Within my first meeting with Jason I learned the basics of what to do and what not to do, what dogs need in order to thrive, (and no, it's not just bones and love) and how to properly communicate with my dog to let her know what I want from her. Trust is key in a relationship with your pet and I wouldn't have learned that without Jason's help. No amount of reading puppy books or talking to other dog owners will give you the in depth knowledge and hands on experience that Jason will provide. If you're doing something wrong, Jason will tell you and understand that this is what's best for your pet. Mango and I both love Jason and would highly recommend him to any old or new pet owners. Thanks Jason, see you at the dog park!

As a longtime fan of their YouTube channel, I finally took the leap and visited McCann Dogs in…read moreHamilton for in-person training and it did not disappoint. We recently completed their parkour classes (dog sport) with our dog and it was such a great experience. It was fun but also really purposeful. My dog built confidence, learned body awareness, and we strengthened our teamwork and communication skills. I learned about patience and letting her work through obstacles at her own pace. The environment is spacious and well-structured, and the staff are knowledgeable, friendly and truly invested in you and your dog's progress - they celebrate every win, big or small. I'm really impressed with the store. They carry a great selection of dog essentials from training treats and tug toys to collars and chew toys. I've purchased two of their leather leashes - one for my dog and another as a gift. The quality and durability is outstanding. If you're looking for a training place that's as passionate about dogs as you are, McCann Dogs is the place to be! Highly recommend!

Life saver even years after lessons!…read more We used McCann dogs even during the pandemic for our first boy Winston. Because of closures and distancing we had to do some online but also were able to get some in class lessons done while things were open. We completed puppy, grade 1 and grade 2. I can't say enough for the value it has been for our pup. He is naturally a timid personality so training was even more necessary for him than maybe a more confident personality dog. The reason I now need to shout out to McCann dogs again is that our boy happened to make a mistake now 5 years later. I opened the front door to come in and even though he has done plenty of threshold training he popped out the door thinking my husband might be outside as well. I was holding a large box and did not see him slip out. I was looking around the entire house going nuts worrying where he was! Finally after about 6 minutes I thought let's open the front door cause I could not find him anywhere in the house. There he was sitting on the front lawn waiting for me to find him. We have a doorbell cam so I could then look to see what happened. He never left the property once, cars drove by he glanced at them thinking they may be my husband but he always chose to sit and wait for me instead of running off, going on the road or anything. This would have not been the result if not for our work with McCann dogs. Thank you again! P.S yes absolutely we immediately did a refresher on threshold training and not going out the door without permission. :)
