Schofield Barracks Commissary...what can I say? I'll tell you what I can say! Obviously, do not go on paydays; it's crazy and you're nuts if you want to try to face the commissary on a payday. Also, do not go between the hours of eleven am and 2pm. This is lunch time and it is INSANE!!! Let me touch for a moment on the baggers. Some of the older ones can be outstandingly rude! The younger ones are usually really nice and laid back. One think I hate is the fact that no matter how many items you have, they will try to bag them and put them in their cart to take them to your car all so they will get a tip. I'm sorry but if I'm in there purchasing only a bag of chips and a gallon of milk, I do not need help getting those heavy items (Lol) out to my car nor am I going to hand you a fiver for doing so. Not happening....sorry. And let me tell you, they get HEATED if you do not let them take your stuff out. If I go by myself without my husband and have a lot of stuff, I have them take it out to my car and tip them accordingly but if I only have two or three items, I don't need the help. Parking is a b***h. For real. You will get all the cardio you need for a week just by walking from your car to the entrance of the store. Unless you are high ranking, handicapped or a pregasaurus who can park in the expectant preggo parking, prepare for a long walk. The commissary is usually always crowded no matter what time you go and it's run down. Yes, most of the food is cheap but...a lot of it is also expired. Many times, I have been in there and gotten food home only to find it's expired so now if I go there, I am careful to check everything before I buy it. Do NOT buy meat from this commissary; it's nasty. Trust me...do not get your meat here. Get your meat from Costco or the NEX...not here. I'm on the fence with the produce. The last time we were in there, an employee was stocking produce and as he was putting some grapes out, he showed me a bag and asked "Would you buy these?" Considering there was mold on them? No, I wouldn't (Duh)...so he shrugged his shoulders and went ahead and put them out for sale. YUCK. My only other complaint is about the military moms. The moms that are in the commissary DO NOT watch their children. They let their kids run, scream, cry, knock stuff off of shelves etc...they are a nightmare. I was in there one time and a little girl who was probably about 4 years old kept asking her mom for some jello. The mom said no and the little girl took her arm and knocked probably 10-15 boxes of jello off the shelf and on to the floor. The mom just walked away...ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Another plus to the military moms with their brats in there? They are usually too busy texting on their phones and/or on their phones talking about how bad their yeast infection is or how the herpes medication is working out (and yes, these snippets are based on actual conversations I have heard at the trash bin that is the commissary). All in all, go to the NEX if you want a nice commissary experience. It's cleaner, bigger, has more selection and the people are friendlier. read more

This place is atrocious. Unfortunately it's the closest commissary due to the tyranny of distance. The one good thing about their complete incompetence is that they mislabeled shrimp and the price and we got it for like $2 a bag. They don't have a lot of good produce and sometimes it doesn't seem as fresh as the NEX or Hickam commissary food. I honestly can't explain that, I'm pretty sure they're the same government contract. $13 for a small watermelon today was a little outrageous for commissary prices. There's this theme with all of these government contracted companies versus places like Safeway or Foodland. For some reason, the former seems to care more about their products which means they care more about their customers. Even their prices aren't as good as the other commissaries. Why?!?! read more

This commissary is in a beautiful location, in a cooler elevation too, so not as hot. It's pretty much the same as every other commissary I have shopped at. This one happens to be a bit smaller but it was nice, and not as crowed as the Pearl Harbor location. I have never seen soldiers out front of a commissary enforcing dress codes before but they do here. Kinda odd but good too, because I don't always care to see pants hanging below butt cheeks on guys or butt cheeks hanging out of the shorts on girls. They didn't seem to happy having to stand this watch, slouching and looking unhappy. You should always stand your watch, regardless of your watch, the best you can! read more

This stores produce is always so bad and rotten, or go bad within a day. I avoid it because the cost of produce here is already high and constantly stroking it out was so wasteful. I also avoid their meats and deli. Pretty much anything fresh. The only time I go there (because I live around the corner) is when I'm out of something for a recipe like tomato sauce or something canned etc. read more

My first visit here last week turned out pleasant, and I'm a civilian with no idea how commissaries work. Luckily I was the only guest to accompany my boyfriend and we were on a huge shopping spree for the week. We bought tons of stuff, and I was glad they had Asian sauces, bundles of meat (and bacon), and an ample supply for produce. Though the produce was a little more expensive than I anticipated, the meat wasn't so bad. A whole tray of cut chicken thighs was about $5, fully stuffed into its package, and although the label read "Use or freeze by" the next day, that's exactly what I did: use or freeze by the next day. Noo problem. A pack of thick applewood bacon was less than $5, which would typically turn out to be $10 outside. My boyfriend vouches that the deli sandwiches are also THE bomb. I thought this would be like the PX, but it's actually a legit grocery store! Nonetheless, the line wasn't long at all on that Thursday afternoon, and we both found it peculiar that all our bags were packed and ready to be rolled out by the helper. I was completely oblivious to the tipping etiquette, but had told our young, helpful helper that we'd be able to roll it out to our car. It was a hot day and she was already of good service to us by being friendly. The reviews I read were entertaining, and I'm really glad I was able to follow all the dress code rules, lucky enough to get in, and next time I'll be sure to re-read the tips. read more

I am fortunate enough to have commissary privileges--so there's your one star. the second star is for having a wide variety of items. The three missing stars? RUDE employees RUDE employees RUDE employees Extremely rude--I have never had to lunge across the table to tip someone and then have him roll his eyes at me and literally throw my money down. Really? This isn't the first time it's happened. I mean, tipping two dollars for bagging less than $100 worth of items is pretty good. I once got yelled at because the sign at the registers tells the customer to tell the cashiers if you want to take out your own groceries. So of course, I tell the cashier. She yells at me, telling me that I need to tell the baggers--that she doesn't have anything to do with my cart. Wow. I have only had one or two experiences where the employees smile at me or even so much as look me in the eye. I don't understand. They make more than regular civilian institution minimum wage employees so why the rudeness? If it weren't for the prices I'd never go back. There are some serious management issues and it needs to get taken care of immediately. I am livid every single time I walk out of that place. read more

Please tell me where it says that express checkout #15 states that you need to have 15 items or less!?!?! When we started placing our items onto the belt, the male cashier asked us how many items we have, then had us go to the back of the line for having more than 15 items. "Well, maybe you should put up a sign!" It would make more sense or at least have us go to the next available cashier next to us. read more

Schofield Barracks Commissary - The signs above the express and unlimited self-checkouts - Grocery Near Me - Schofield Barracks, Hawaii

It is what it is. Some advice I can give is don't go in the morning. Some of the older baggers tend to be pretty rude. Kind of like going to a Korean nail salon. But the younger baggers at night are awesome. Everyone knows don't go the first and the 15th but another reason other then crowds is because the prices change on the first and the 15th. Now a tip for army wives(I am one) but speaking to the other ones... If someone gives a friendly smile it's like she is saying hello. So get of your high horse an smile back!!! If someone is in your way an they acknowledge that and say oh I'm sorry let me move don't push by like your shit doesn't stink!! Say something like oh no problem or hank you.. Jesus people we all are here for the same reason would it kill you to be polite? People don't have to move when they are in your way they can just tell you to screw yourself but they will move so stop being so stuck up and say thank you!!! And that goes for everywhere.. You are in Hawaii people live a little!! read more

Shelves stocked , cashiers friendly / find everything I need . Try not to go on payday !

What can you say about the commissary that everyone else hasn't said? It's CHEAP, it's CHEAP, it's freakin CHEAP!!! Lots of parking and basically just a huuuuuge grocery store with a little bit of everything: fruits, veggies, meats, snacks, household items, bath amenities, pet products, sushi, dairy products, breakfast items, a deli, a bakery, frozen foods, and the list goes on and on... Cashier's are friendly (we haven't come across anyone not nice yet) and the baggers are really nice and they'll chit chat with you on the way to your car... But stay away on military pay day! It's a freakin zoo! read more

I must say that I miss the good'old days when the commissaries on this island all were open for the military to bring two people. These days, the only one that I can get in to with my military boyfriend is the one at Schofield. I don't mind it if we are out driving or beaching it up on the North Shore, but then there are those times that we are in desperate need of some serious grocery shopping and we have to drive up to Schofield. Someone can argue and say that we really don't HAVE to but those who shop here, or at any other commissary, they would probably understand. I always gets surprised when we check out and it's about $200 for a good amount of food. I've paid almost $100 for food at another place and it wasn't even close to nearly as much as I got at the commissary. It never seems to get as crowded as the NEX commissary does. And the line moves quickly even if there is a lot of people. I spend most of my time in the vegetable/fruit and international foods section. I've realized that crisp bread (Swedish , I love it!) that costs almost $5 at another grocery store closer to home is only $1.30 at commissary. I always stack up. The also have other Swedish and international foods that I like getting because of the price. Despite the fact that it's quite a drive when you live in Waikiki, it's worth the trip. Pretty much LOVE it! I mean what is not to love about a conveniently located place that sells you groceries at a fraction of the cost? Not much!!! This commissary is a no frills kinda place. It is definitely in need of a renovation but honestly I can think of a ton of more important things to dump money into instead of making the bread aisle a little more snazzy. The store is clean...which is the main thing. Shelves are well stocked and they generally carry just about anything and everything one needs to prepare a meal for 2 or 20. Yesterday's visit was the only time there was a woman at the front checking ID's. I am assuming she was also letting guests in but if she was then I am not sure why she was checking ID's. Maybe so you don't bring the whole tribe? I'm not sure...anyway just a word to the wise...be prepared at least to show some form of ID when entering. Avoid this (or any) commissary on pay day weekend at all costs. The craziness is just insane. Lines can be super long but they always move really quickly. Don't forget to bring a buck or two to tip your bagger. That is the only money that they make. Forget your dollah dollah bills? Just offer to take your own stuff to your car. It allows the bagger to grab another tipping customer and won't make you feel (read:look) like an a$$ when the bagger is uncomfortably staring at you while he or she loads the last case of soda in your car. Can you tell I used to work in the service industry? Remember...Yelper's never forget to tip! Don't make us look bad :) read more

Hmm, the many ways to explain the love and hate for this oasis in Hawaii. I can't knock the fact that their prices are way cheaper than most, especially when things are on sale. What would normally cost you 7 or 8 bucks can cost a mere dollar when it's on sale. Can't complain about that. Meat is super cheap and produce, too, but it can take some rummaging to find the good stuff in the pile of fruits and veggies. Nothing gold can stay. Today was out of the ordinary for myself and the people I was with, but according to the lady working the check out, these types of occurrences are commonplace. Maybe she shouldn't have said anything. Eek. We observed a gentleman crossing the Commissary, yelling at the top of his lungs, clearly aggravated, and negligently still in uniform. The manager working didn't handle the situation very well - besides the fact that the store continually hung up on him and upset him to the point where he had to leave work to address the situation, she also kicked out the gentleman and his small daughter, and left a soldier and his family out, not only $200, but also an entire order of his groceries that they'd been withholding for two days. Tsk tsk. And we've had our issues. One lady, after touching all of our mushrooms that had been in a bag, dropped some on the ground and put them back in the bag for us to take home. Had she asked, we would have paid the higher price for all of the mushrooms rather than have her separate them by price and touching/dropping our food. Needless to say, we did not keep those mushrooms. To our benefit, however, the manager working that day was empathetic and courteous, unlike the manager on staff today. So they have their ups and downs. For us, it's usually up. Though I prefer shopping here based on costs, I was disappointed to see the way their customer service failed for the most important of their customers. Yes, I will return, and if you get a chance to tag along with someone, I would suggest it, but know that it doesn't always come up roses here. read more

I love shopping for groceries here at the Schofield Barracks Commissary. This evening was a good night for me to shop, it was not busy like most days. The Commissary has great deals on items that you need for your home such as cleaning supplies, toiletries and your personal necessities. I don't just buy groceries here, I buy everything I need. No Wal-Mart for me unless the items that I need are not available at this store. If I am lucky, a lady will be passing out P&G coupons at the entrance and these coupons saves me a few dollars or even more on my Pantene shampoo and Crest toothpaste. Today I also discovered that you can go on http://www.pgeveryday.com and print out the coupons that you need. For those mothers you can print out Pampers coupons for your babies diapers. For those who like to clip coupons and forgot to bring them, don't worry - there's a basket on the right of the entrance where you can find already cut coupons. There may also be flyers of exclusive specials, promotions on the table. Don't like to use coupons but want to save money? How about signing up for the Commissary Rewards card. For those Apple iPhone users, you may also download the app so that you can easily access your Rewards Card account and review your clipped coupons to redeem. The Deli here has great selections. I sometimes get a pound of sliced chicken or turkey here for our sandwiches. If you are craving for a healthy lunch, make your own at home with their many selections of meat. You may not need to go back to your local delicatessen for lunch. Don't forget the loaf of bread, lettuce and tomatoes in your cart!!! Gotta run? They have fresh sandwiches to go as well. Like Sushi? They have it too. Lastly I wanted to mention a little tip to those who have a green thumb. The plants here have an amazing price. Selections are few so if you see something you like, buy it. I have purchased some bromeliads, ferns and palm trees for my garden. They have grown beautifully. Other services: ATM, Bakery, Fresh Lobster, and Hot Rotisserie Chicken Weekly Sidewalk Sales on Thursday, Friday and Saturday...of course it's only till supplies last. Make sure you tip your baggers good, they really do their best packing your items in the grocery bags. read more

I didn't always frequent the commissary because we live off base and it seemed out of the way. But just recently I started heading straight for the commissary thanks to a fellow military wife telling me I was nuts to shop anywhere else for groceries... Well, I couldn't be happier about the change. Our grocery bill (family of 3) declined by about $40. They have a good (good enough for me at least) food selection and I love that they sell 12-packs of La Croix for less than $6. I'm holding back on a couple of stars because this place is in the middle of some heavy renovation and it is an absolute zoo and maze, on a good day! Products are always being relocated... Literally on a weekly basis. Once they get the store permanently set up, I think this place could be worthy of four stars. Oh, and one more pro, they have a nursing room for mamas by the customer service end! read more

This is my least favorite commisary to go to even though it's the closest to where I live. They always have a lot of items out of stock, it's always busy and crowded with many rude impatient customers you run into when your at unlimited self checkout line. Not to mention the rude workers who work at the express checkout lines! I made two separate transaction because I forgot 1 item in my basket & this female worker made a loud comment that was so unnecessary & was referring to me! Like really! I'm a paying customer! I prefer going to Hickam, MCHB and Pearl Harbor Commissary to go shopping. Everyone is a lot friendlier & have more items in stock. read more

I prefer this a million and one times over Foodland and Times Supermarket. It smells better and the prices are better. At first I would always forget to bring cash to tip the baggers, but I started using another card to get cash back for a tip. read more

I come here every now and then when its time to re-stack the fridge. In most of my visits here every time i go inside to get a shopping cart - there's none except the ones with the baby seat. There would be a lot of helpers at the end of the cash registers help package the groceries in to the bags and put them into their carts but it seems the store doesn't have the sense to send some people to gather the carts and put them inside the store. And when I do get a shopping cart one or two of the wheels needs to be replaced because when I push the cart I noticed I'm either dragging the wheel or it would just squiggle side to side. Their system at the checkout line is a good idea. Having a number board light up which checkout register is ready instead of looking down the row and trying to make out which register is ready. And this place offers fresh sushi made on the spot during the daytime. Yelp 365 Challenge - #054/365 read more

Still plenty of room for improvement here....I don't know who the produce manager is, but the freshness of many items is definitely lacking. I don't how much food we've had to toss out in recent weeks because it simply doesn't last, and I can't blame our refrigerator because it's brand new and properly programmed. While the quality and selection of fish is usually decent, there have been several times where the "sell by" date and "cook by" date simply can't be right. Twice now we've opened a package of supposedly fresh fish only to be met with the stench of old fillets that are past their prime. We do continue to shop here but only for select items, reduced prices, and location. In recent months I've noticed a sharp increase in prices on key items like butter, cheese, meat, fish, etc., but can only assume those have been caused by this COVID-19 nonsense. read more

So let me start out by saying my first and only trip here (so far) was on a payday. Apparently I enjoy punishing myself. Actually while it was busy it wasn't the black friday style madness I was expecting. The line stretched out like a Best Buy line but really moved very quickly. Our bag boy was really helpful and nice and I can appreciate how genuine he seemed when thanking us for his tip (in general I really appreciate when people who are used to getting tipped all the time still make you feel like they are really thankful). On to the experience. The produce was a lot better than I anticipated. It was pretty fully stocked and everything looked fresh. Biggest issue? The people who decided to have social hour for 20 minutes in the middle of already small produce section. I'm really happy that you saw some buds and wanted to catch up, but maybe find somewhere a little less busy to stop with your multiple carts? The prices are good and coupons make them great. I didn't have any issues with short dates or out of date product like some reviewers mentioned - I did check everything and nothing was even close to being out of date. Must have hit the meat section on a good day because I was happy with the selection and the steaks we bought were tasty and tender (can't be their price on New Yorks). The deli was great - many more meat and cheese options than I anticipated. Boars Head options as well. I love their section of all the artisan cheeses - tons of interesting options. All in all the for someone like me who lives in Ewa Beach the commissary is great for major stock ups but is a little out of the way for everyday shopping trips. I love how "normal" the prices are compared to what I was used to before I moved out here and am willing to brave the madness for that (I'm cheap and am not afraid to admit it :)). **Love all the coupons hung around products in the aisles! read more

This place is disgusting. On pay days they up their prices and gauge military families. Their fruits and veggies mold very quickly. The pastas and rice are 75% infested with bugs and on top of that, they sell expired food. I've bought packages of cheese before only discover they are moldy once I open them up at home. Their pita bread is also always moldy. Walking around you'll notice that the place is outdated and dirty too. Shopping at the NEX Commissary is 10 times better and worth the commute. The Schofield barracks commissary should be ashamed. read more

Other than the facts that the place is always busy and they do a lot of maintenance, this is a good place to shop. Prices are fair (no tax) and deals are everywhere. If anything with all the money you saved, might as well tip the bag people who help bring groceries to your car at least $5. Be prepared to be frustrated though. They sometimes (usually) don't have what you want/need and the people there are not always friendly; sometimes they grunt as a greeting or just blankly stare at you read more

Prices are no less expensive than the rest of the stores on island and the quality elsewhere is better, as well as you can find more natural, organic and many more health foods elsewhere. The staff is not very polite, but rather show in their attitude how much they dislike their job. And there are never enough lanes open, causing you to spend the majority of your time in store waiting to check out. read more

This store is always out of a lot of stuff. The answer I always get is that their shipment doesn't come in until Tuesday but everyone shops on the weekend so they waste a lot of their items...what? You really have to check the dates on the items you purchase because i have come home several times with products that were very out of date. I get that it happens but with this commissary it seems to be entirely to "normal". The customer service here is garbage as well. There are a few nice employees but they don't make up for everyone else, including the contractors who really don't give a crap about you or running into your children with their carts. There is usually only one person working in the deli at any given time so prepare for a 20-45 minute wait for deli meat and cheese. We drive down to the commissary at the NEX because it's so much better and only come here on occasion. read more

Enter at your own risk on paydays and lunch time! Actually, you probably won't even be able to find parking on a payday or at lunch, so you'll have to come back some other time anyway. The produce section is terrible! If you're like me and love to purchase questionable fruits and veggies that are quite literally rotten the next day, you're in luck! Bonus points if you want strawberries as I have never once seen a package of those that wasn't *already* moldy in the display. I once picked up a bag of oranges to purchase and wound up covered in the rotted goo that poured out of the holes in the bag, score! I tried to buy one item, spinach, last week and they had just tossed the entire section as all of the spinach was rotten! Care for local eggs? Too bad, they only have mainland eggs! Want organic chicken? Sorry sucker!! Those things are like a mirage! I have seen (and purchased) them twice... Then, never to be seen again! The white guy with red hair at the fish counter is quite friendly, as are the cashiers! Do you love bratty children throwing things off the shelves and playing tag in the aisles as there mothers loudly spout personal drama on the phone and ignore said children? Playa please, that's free at every commissary! Cheap food and a show! At least I can get local milk and good flour at a reasonable price here. However, if you think you're going to get that cart down most of the aisles, you're wrong grasshopper. You must embrace your inner zen as you calmly park your cart in an out of the way spot (the health food and vitamin section is typically deserted) and weave through double parked carts to achieve Lyle's Golden Syrup nirvana. The baggers will either be very quiet or very friendly. I tip well and get service appropriate for such. Want to experience what a great commissary feels like? Get thee onto the H1 and enter heaven, the Pearl Harbor commissary. Fresher food, higher quality, bigger aisles, nicer co-shoppers, parking, all this and more is located by the NEX! read more

My husband and I are stationed @ Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. We try to stay away from this commissary for several reasons. For starters, they don't carry a good selection and the moms let their bratty, loud, obnoxious kids run crazy all over the place and don't even watch them. You'll have kids running right into your cart etc..it's insane. The people who bag your groceries get pissed off if you don't let them take your stuff out to your car because then they don't get a tip. Sorry but I'm not leaving a tip for two or three bags when I can do it myself. We usually shop at the NEX which is downtown and MUCH better. My husband is stationed on schofield but we live on shafter so we are always at the navy commissary. I've only been in the schofield commissary once and I'm sorry I will never be back. It's much smaller and older than the Pearl Harbor one. The produce is not fresh, you have to really search to locate fresh produce. I am a civilian who shops at this location a lot with my father who is retired Air Force. I walked in to the commissary and was stopped by an African American soldier in uniform. I did not get her name. Apparently, she was calling for me to stop a couple times, but I didn't hear her. She made a comment to my father, in a very rude tone and attitude stating, "I know she heard me." I didn't, because I would have stopped. I walked back out of the commissary and she told me my shorts are not authorized. I thought she was joking and me and my father laughed and asked her if she was serious. I have lived in Hawaii for over 20 years and never been stopped on base for my dress code. I always wear short shorts and never been stopped before entering a facility. I said ok, and sat outside with her and her co-worker to wait until my father was done shopping. I asked her about the dress code because I was so confused and never heard about it before. She told me my shorts are not authorized and pants with holes in them are not authorized. I sat there for about 30 minutes and watched every customer walk inside the store. There were two soldiers on duty, one female and one male. The male soldier was a short "local" Asian looking man. I did not get his name. He was standing up the entire time and was very aware and tentative of his surroundings and watched everyone who was entering and exiting. The female soldier on the other hand was sitting and had her hand under her chin the entire time. She looked very upset and miserable. The male soldier stopped a couple where the young man was wearing a tank top. The soldier told this man, "Your shirt is not authorized". The man stated, "It's not a "wife-beater", it's a tank top". The soldier stated again that his shirt is not authorized, so the couple left. I am assuming that "wife-beaters" are considered not appropriate attire. A soldier was walking across the parking lot and street while texting on his phone. The female soldier stated, "Is he serious right now?", and pointed at this soldier. The male soldier walked very quickly and approached this soldier and the soldier smiled and put his phone in this pocket and said hi. The male soldier then saluted this soldier, and the officer saluted back at him. The officer grabbed a cart and entered the commissary. I stated, "You can't say anything to him because he's our boss?" I did not get a reply from either of them, all I heard was crickets. This made me upset. Two girls walked in with short shorts. One girl was wearing short cut-off shorts, similar to the style of shorts that I was wearing. The other girl was wearing really short black shorts and her butt was hanging out and her thighs were suffocating. The female soldier did not say one word to them. I asked her why her shorts are authorized and told her that her butt was hanging out. The female soldier told me that my shorts are cut at a V, and not straight across. This does not make sense to me. I co-manage a retail store and understand strict dress code policies, because I enforce them. I looked up the base dress code on your website and it states at line "(7) short shorts and shorts skirts are not appropriate attire". I understand that my shorts are short and not authorized, but I do not understand why others can break dress code and be allowed to shop at this facility, while I have to sit outside and wait. This is not fair and I feel this female soldier had something against me personally. My father has served for 20 years and my family and I have been a valued customer for over 20 years. We love shopping and spending our money at your facilities and this experience has been a horrible one. read more

I do have to admit we came on payday weekend, which we usually avoid at all costs. However, we didnt even think about it, we just moved here and needed to stock our house with groceries. We also went on a Sunday evening which probably didnt help. I was also hungry when I went and slightly grumpy, That being said, this may not be the most objective review of the place, I realize that. I did not like the Schofield Barracks Commisary at all. I am not a fan of commisaries in general because I do not feel like they are as good of a deal as everyone says, but we have been hearing horror stories of how expensive everything on the economy is, so when it came time to get groceries for the first time, we came here. The store is small and seems very run down. It was super crowded and we could barely navigate around without crashing into people on every corner (I know that has to do with it being pay day weekend). The selection was awful (again I know because of payday) and the quality of the meats and produce was awful. A lot of the produce was rotting away, and the meat just looked gross. Payday or not i feel like the store should be stocked with quality foods. I may be willing to check it out again, not on payday or a weekend, but my husband and i agreed we will be trying other grocery stores first. read more

One of the worst commisaries i have been to! The parking is always crowded and no lights? You cant see a damn thing once it gets dark. The workers always seem to have a scowl on their faces. The selection, especially produce is horrible! The layout is really bad i mean shouldnt peanut butter be near the bread? And yes, bring headphones so you dont have to hear children whine and cry while you shop. read more

CHECK DATES IN BABYFOOD! I was in there a week ago and mentioned to checker that there was expired earths best organic baby food (about 20 jars) and 5 days later I went back to buy baby food and low and behold the jars were still expired! Quite a few jars were gone assuming someone bought expired baby food and there was other flavors stocked on the shelves with expired dates also! NOT COOL! They suck ! read more

Sadly, yet another poor review for this beleaguered establishment.....Last weekend the wifey and I stopped by to pick up a few items and things went smoothly until we hit the checkout stands. Lines are expected, but at least they had two open. I think we went to checkout #5. Lately we've gotten into the habit of watching the TV screen that displays the image, text description, and price of the item you purchased. The wife grabs my arm, points to the screen, and it was then that we asked the cashier to stop scanning. $9.88 for a (supposed) 3 lb. bag of apples?! No, that's not right....a second glance at the bag and it looked a little lean. Sure enough, she put it on the scale and it topped out @ 2.4 lbs. Hmmmm....okay, we don't want that one.....Next, she tried to void the original sale, and ended up making two trips down to another register for whatever reason. So she finally gets the sale voided and then her touch screen isn't working? I finally spot the real problem. The woman's nails were so long (and decorated), the touch screen wasn't registering her inputs. C'mon Schofield, get it together! read more

I love the remodeling of the commissary. Everything seems so much more organized and they have a lot more to choose from!!! The Cashier was very fast and the bagger was very friendly!! Good job!!!! read more

This place...ahh this place. Don't go on pay day or the weekend after, it will be so packed you'll wait in line for a half hour or more and literally EVERYTHING will be taken from the shelves, produce and meat sections. The customer service here typically isn't anything to brag about either. The baggers are nice, but other than that cross your fingers and hope you get someone decent. Recently I witnessed a man screaming obscenities at the manager who was walking away from him as she clearly did not want anything to do with him. Okay, I would'nt want to get screamed at either, but as a manager you should address the situation and call for assistance if you can't handle it yourself, not just walk away from it. As it turns out the man who was screaming had been hung up on over the phone so many times he marched to the store to deal with the problem directly. The stores computer had a glitch and they had held his groceries and the $200 he had paid for them for 2 count em 2 days. FAIL. I have had my fair share of poor customer service here as well, but if I got into that you'd be reading a novel. Okay, overlooking the fact that nearly every employee here is almost completely incompetent, they have unbeatable prices. Where in a regular supermarket you would pay $4 for a can of soup or spaghettios, you can get it here for around $0.89. That's an INSANE difference. Also, there isn't a place on the island you can find meat or fresh produce for cheaper prices. This place gets 3 out of 5 stars because of how budget friendly it is. If it wasn't so cheap I most certainly would NOT shop here. read more

The prices are definatly cheaper than off post but their fresh produce is nt the best quality or their meat. I personally prefer to shop the next com. If I have the gas and time. read more

Great size, great employees, and great experiences all around every time I visit! Admittedly it's not all that often, but I've never been disappointed yet! read more

This is my last choice of commissaries to go to on island, but since it's close to where we live, I'll run in to get a couple items. Times to avoid this place like the plague are 1115-1300 & 1700-1830 Mon-Fri. They're usually out of a lot of items and it's a zoo in here during paydays. They're finally revamping the place, so it's confusing how the aisles are set up. Although it's cheaper to buy meat here, I prefer meat from SAM's or even Foodland. The beef always seems to have little white fatty knots in it. read more
