There's only one thing and one thing only that I will never say no to, and that's chocolate. This chocolatier is hidden in the back of another shop, so it's very easy to miss! But once you get there, you're in for something special. One small glass counter, where staff here takes things slowly and gives every customer their utmost attention, patiently letting you select your treats and then delicately placing them in a box that is beautifully packaged and tied with a bow. I tried to blurt out "don't wrap it!" knowing I was here on a camping trip, looking like a hot mess, and needn't have my chocolate prepped for the fancy. But I couldn't bring myself to say it, because they're just too pretty to pass up. I loved the generosity too! Samples with your purchase... always say yes to those! read more

Whoa, I was super surprised at how awesome these chocolates were. This is a little chocolate counter hidden in the back of a tacky expensive glass and geegaw shop that I would never enter otherwise. It's slightly annoying if you have kids because no matter how well behaved they are you have to basically bind their hands and leash them or they will manage to break a $400 ugly vase on their way back to the chocolates and then the chocolate counter man kindly redirects your children because they deigned to touch the glass display. :P All of that aside, these are fantastic hand made chocolates. They win hands down over the chocolate place in Bellevue Square mall which is the most comparable place I can think of. The flavors are just cleaner and more pronounced and the chocolate shells on the confections are more delicate to let the fillings shine. read more

I found this place by chance, really. I am glad I did though. The chocolate was fantastic to me. Most chocolates that I taste, (especially milk chocolate) has this sort of chemically processed aftertaste that has turned me from milk chocolate. I tried their chocolate dip, and it is heaven. It is so smooth, and velvety. You know, like how you see it in the commercials, but when you get home the chocolate is not worth the hype? They have a few different types of chocolates, some are very different and interesting, and others are just sweet classics. It is a little pricey, but the quality is so worth the price. They are also nice enough to let you have samples. which is great, because people love to know what they are buying, and they love samples lol. read more

I am desperately trying to make my purchase last... It is incredibly difficult. The store front is eye-catching. When we visited Leavenworth this shop had stunning Phoenix plates, serving dishes, and vases sitting in the display window. All over in the store they have more of the same sort of glass pieces with artistic focus on everything from peacock feathers to dragonflies to ladybugs. Schocolat isn't just a place for chocolate though. They have various other culinary treats such as jams, sauces, and mixes. I am seriously impressed by the quality of these chocolates. We were given samples of a chocolate and a fantastic pear caramel sauce. The only comparison I can think of regarding the quality of chocolates is Chocolate Necessities in Bellingham. This place is great! Their ganache in the truffles they make is so well flavored. We will be back! read more

This place is tucked away in the back of an expensive knick knack store and it's a shame they don't stand alone. They have an incredible selection of chocolates made on site. The customer service made it a great experience. I was very impressed with her knowledge of the product and she was patient as we made our selections. The samples really drew us in (successful tactic) and then we were ready to bring that experience home. I'm not a chocolate junky, but I do crave it on occasion. It was a bit awkward walking through the candle shop past the shopkeeper trying to give me the hard sell on the candles, but it had to be done. The guy behind the counter is a retired chef and his wife is the genius behind the chocolate. We purchased 2 boxes that we filled with our own choices. He kept suggesting the fruit filled confections, but I'm not a fan. As we were making choices he also kept giving us samples of some of the chocolates which was very helpful in making our decisions. Some of our choices: earl grey milk, salted caramel milk and dark, gianduja, hazelnut, espresso, toffee, oh my! Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Our box was gone by the next day. These are the most amazing chocolates ever. We wandered in figuring, everything would be over priced and mediocre but wow were we amazed! We were given a sample of their pear caramel sauce and a chocolate fudge sauce with a chocolate almond. The sales girl then asked us if we like dark or milk chocolate to find something we would like of which to give us a sample. We ended up trying a raspberry chocolate. We were impressed so decided to buy a few - they were $1.15 each, very reasonable especially given how good they were. We ended up with a dark salted caramel, mint chocolate, and earl grey truffles. OMG they were all amazing! The mint was my favorite - it tasted like real mint, not overly sweetened candy mint! My fiance loved the salted caramel dark chocolate. We were so impressed, we went back the next day to pay a 12 pack of the chocolates to bring back to share with our families over Thanksgiving! Not only were the chocolates amazing, but the service was great too as they remembered us when we returned! They gave us another free sample. They really know how to sell their products! I see them damn near breaking their arms patting themselves on the back on how they "KNOW" customer service... compared to this tiny little chocolate store in Leavenworth, Washington, they know absolutely nothing... this place makes Nordstrom's seem like Walmart. OMG They were soooo good that I had to buy a box to take home. My parents who are picky loved the box of chocolate almonds. Delicious chocolates! This place was fairly small but packed with fellow chocolate lovers. I bought two small boxes- one for my mom and one for the group that I was with. I expressed to the gentleman helping us that my mom loved anything with caramel and nuts, basically chewy chocolates. He helped us and was very kind. Chocolate, need I say more? They got it down here and it is amazing! This gem sits at the back of a home store. Walking through the store, the candles are almost a turnoff to the Heaven that awaits. The gentleman helping us was super-friendly and helpful. He gave us a sample of their sauces. First the cinnamon pear caramel...this is simply divine. Caramel with a hint of pear and the hint of cinnamon left at the end..wow! The the bittersweet chocolate... nice chocolate, creamy...delightful! It took me a little while to find Schocolat, as it was hidden inside one of the many, many little shops along Front Street. I was a little puzzled at first, wandering in between the two shops underneath the Schocolat sign, but eventually found where I was looking for. I was warmly greeted by a gentleman who was clearly a chocolate expert. He offered me three free samples of their chocolate - which was awesome! I tried a chocolate dipping sauce, a pear caramel sauce, and a milk chocolate confection. All three were absolutely delicious. I ended up purchasing 4 chocolates here. A salted caramel, a mint chocolate, a chocolate toffee, and a chocolate coconut. I greatly enjoyed the toffee and coconut chocolates, but I was not a fan of the mint or salted caramel ones. Overall, I do think they have good chocolate here. I was disappointed in a couple of my choices, but the staff is friendly, they are more than willing to give out lots of free samples, and the chocolates I did like were divine! read more

We've had chocolates from all around the world: London, Rome, San Francisco, Seattle, Louisiana. There are cheap chocolates and then there are fine chocolates. Schocolat has some of the best fine chocolates in the world and probably the best creative yet classy variety we have ever experienced. Yes, the chocolate is expensive but you pay for the best ingredients put together by a true professional. You would not expect something this nice to be all the way out in Leavenworth as Schocolat could easily hold its own in downtown New York or Milan. The gentleman who runs the shop is truly precious. Like any fine chef he is a bit sensitive (don't call his chocolates second best!) but he is a true artist. Whoops! I was later informed by his wife that she is the chef who makes all those gorgeous chocolates so just a quick edit there. Chocolate. Need I say more? Get to the counter and taste something. You are guaranteed to leave with something. The girl fed me candied cocoa almonds with a chocolate sauce, and I bought the almonds. I was so tempted to get the other chocolates that she fed me a bonus one from the counter! It was coffee creme in a dark chocolate case. I savoured it and vowed to return! All their chocolates are $1.25 each. The rest of the shop sells really expensive and really beautiful kitchen/tea sets. We spent quite some time admiring the beautiful tea spoons. We kind of happened upon this store as it is in the back of another store where all the merchandise is very fragile and very pricey. If you can navigate through the Haus of $$$$ without breaking anything, or at least not letting anyone see you break anything, you will make it to Schocolat. There are plenty of samples on the counter and the people that run the chocolate shop are very personable. I was amazed that they said that they make all the chocolates daily. The chef must have to get up super early to temper the chocolates and get everything ready before the store opens. The prices were decent. We found Schocolat at the recommendation of one of the locals and were not disappointed. It's hidden at the back of another shop, so you may walk past it if you aren't looking for it. The chocolates are expensive (almost $1.50/ea) but are melt-in-your-mouth delicious. We were first given samples of their caramel and chocolate spreads. We were then asked about our taste preferences before being given a sample of one of the chocolates. The employee was very friendly and took us through the whole process of selecting our chocolates. I always hesitate to say something is the "Best I've ever had", but Schocolat is worthy of it. I never would have expected the tiny little, slightly cheesy Bavarian town of Leavenworth to contain one of the raddest chocolate experiences of my life, but it did. They don't use any preservatives, and all the chocolates are handmade by the owner daily. When I arrived I was treated to an old-fashioned, charming sales presentation by the son of the chocolatier (I'm assuming) that included him providing me a free dark chocolate ganache truffle as I browsed. I took my time looking, and a few minutes later, he suggested I try their pear-brandy caramel sauce, that is "delicious over a slice of warm apple pie, or vanilla bean ice cream". Really the entire experience was charming and a bit of a throw back. I purchased a Raspberry Crown, Gold Coast Ginger, Toasted Coconut, The Harlequin, A Sunshine Coast Truffle, a Brandied Pear Caramel, and a dark chocolate salted caramel. I don't typically like caramel chocolates, but theirs....oh man. It's silky smooth and not too sugary. The perfect balance of caramelized sugar and butter. I started by eating the Gold Coast Ginger and loved it. the piece of ginger just melted in my mouth and perfectly paired with the dark chocolate. I had intended on stopping their and saving the rest for later, but I was so curious to try others, I then went with the toasted coconut, then the brandied pear caramel, and on and on, and on, until my box of 9 was in my stomach. Really, truly, I will be buying Christmas gifts via their website and they will knock people's socks off. This place doesn't really need another 5 star review but I'm going to give it anyway. I came here a few years ago and remember enjoying the chocolates but couldn't remember what I had so I figured I would try it out again while in Leavenworth yesterday. I was greeted promptly and asked what my favorite flavors were. The girl helping me (Stephanie) gave me a sample of the Cinnamon Pear Caramel sauce which was make-me-drool good! I had to get one of those (even at the steep price of almost nine dollars a jar). She then let me try the dark chocolate sauce which was good but just tasted like any other good quality chocolate sauce to me. She even gave me a chocolate to sample as well (milk chocolate with a milk chocolate ganache-also good). I purchased 5 chocolates and the Pear sauce. The chocolates were good but nothing special. The Australian sea salt caramel and the English toffee were our favorites. But the Cinnamon Pear Sauce is AMAZING (it tastes like apple pie filling but with pears). I will be ordering online in the future I'm sure. 4 stars for the chocolates, 5 stars for the service. I have eaten chocolates from all over the world. I was a spoiled little girl as a kid, and was given fancy smancy expensive chocolates. However, this little shop at the back of a little store is the dearest treat I've had in ages!!! My husband and I wandered into this little shop, and at first I was a little suspicious. Note: for a normal 1 lb. box you are paying around $30!! If I was going to spend $30 on some treats I wanted them to be REAL good. He gave us a number of samples to try first and what can I say? I was won over. Now, like food I am a picky girl. These chocolates have none of that waxy taste or feel like See's or Godiva for example. (Hey the work, but they just aren't special right?) No, these chocolates are rich, not tooo sweet, and just the perfect texture and taste. For example, let me explain the delicacy of the sea salt carmel. The carmel is rich, smooth and tasty and the sea salt just adds the perfect counter part actually enhancing the sweetness. Trust me. It is worth the trip. I will give you fair warning. If you are heading up here during the summer eat your chocolate FAST. These sweet treats have NONE of the preservatives you find in typical chocolate boxes. They recommend you eat these tasties as fast as possible. They last MAYBE up to a week. So if you are shipping these tasty concoctions to your great aunt ethel in Georgia may we recommend express? and that she eats them all within the day? (Not such a hard thing to do with these sweet morsels ^_~). Try it though, trust me you will not be disappointed. p.s. the husband (the shop owner) is one lucky guy because his wife makes these delicious treats. I chanced upon this chocolate boutique for the first time in 5 years on our last trip to Leavenworth. It's easy to miss Schocolat because it is located all the way in the back of a gift shop. The chocolates are amazing and the owner who also makes these fine confections by hand is friendly and helpful. He made us try a few pieces and we ended up with 2 boxes of 12pc assortment of dark, milk and white chocolate. Now for our favorites - Gold Coast Ginger (dark chocolate ganache with crystallized ginger), Sunshine Coast Truffle (fresh lemon, lime and orange infused white chocolate) and Brandied Pear Caramel (dried pear with brandy and buttery caramel in milk choclate). As if that wasn't enough for our chcolate fix, the owner hands me some Almond Cocoa Nuts and tells me to dip these in a jar of bittersweet sauce. YUM! Of course, we had to pick up a couple bags of the nuts and jars of the sauce. If you can't make it up to Leavenworth, they ship their chocolates with a minimum order of $16 when you order through their website. read more

Best chocolate I've ever had in my life, and I'm a massive chocolate snob, I spent my childhood in England and I've eaten my share of chocolate from other European countries, admittedly I am comparing it to the "chocolate" sold in grocery stores here in the USA, but this chocolate is outstanding.
