From what I understand, the auto repair side of things is outstanding, but my review pertains to the car wash side of the house. I had paid for, "The Works", but the only thing it worked was $9.00 out of my wallet. Although only $9.00, I did expect something of a clean car. My car looked exactly as it did before I took it through the wash, only now it was wet. When it dried, you could see the dirt that had been on it, and now, water marks left by the car wash. If you are expecting a clean car when you leave a car wash, avoid this one. read more

I took my truck in and ended up needing an A/C condenser and a thermostat. They quoted me a very high price, so I called around for quotes from other shops. After telling Schmitz I would take the truck to someone else, they dropped the price $500! Granted, I would be getting refurbished parts, but they didn't even give me that choice in the beginning. I went ahead with Schmitz with the new LOW price, but was very unhappy I had to work so hard to get a fair price out of them. I've been going to Schmitz since 2004 to get my oil changed and I've always had perfectly fine experiences with them. They have a shuttle that drops me off at work a mile away and are always friendly. I really hadn't used them for much else because I found a mechanic that I really like elsewhere. When my brakes pads desperately needed changing (they called me to let me know when they were changing my oil), I was hesitant to have them do the work because I assumed it would cost me an arm and a leg, being in Tyson's Corner. I called around and found out that they really weren't any more expensive than any other convenient option, so I had them do it and was satisfied. Now, here's the reason they earned their five-star rating (not that everything else hasn't been great, it's just that they really hadn't had the opportunity to blow me away): yesterday, during the snow, I decided I needed to change my windshield wiper blades before going to work. They were old and crappy and I knew would not stand up well to the wet snow. I had bought new ones and had just put off switching them out. Well, I clearly do not have a future in windshield wiper blade changing b/c I couldn't get the new one on. And then, I couldn't get the old one BACK on properly (luckily I had only removed one!). So, I called Schmidt's and determined that they could help me and then drove in the snow with one semi-working windshield wiper and one flopping all over - kinda scary at imes, b/c I couldn't see that great. When I walked in to Schmidt's, the one guy (owner, maybe?) recognized me and happily went to get my car. Three minutes later, I was told it was ready. When I asked what I owed, he just shook his head and made a face, like "please?" and shooed me in to my car. Thank you so very much, Schmidt's, for making my commute home a safer one! And thanks for taking care of your long-term customers, when you knew that, in the situation I was in, I probably would have paid whatever you wanted. read more

AC was not working. I took it here as it is a convenient location. They charged me $150. $90 labor to check and was unable to find what's wrong with it. The guy said he could not find where the leak came from and he made a temporary fix. He specifically said that I definitely have to come back to see him again. Three months later, I had to take it to get fixed somewhere else. The other place was able to do a REAL fix with a cheaper labor cost. read more

Review is for car repairs - the team at the garage is professional and respectful. I had two flat tires. Jeremy gave me good advice on tire brand selection and what additional work would be needed, including rotation and alignment. They got the work done the same day, and gave me a thorough explanation of the work done. When I got the other two tires replaced elsewhere, this garage still took another look at the alignment to make sure everything was in sync. Excellent customer service. Went for brake job oil chance and inspection. Next day found out there was a screw in my tire which could have been picked up anywhere. Went back to get the flat fixed and they fixed it for free. I love this place and have been going since 2005. You see a couple bad reviews, but you know no business is perfect. It's consistency that builds a solid happy customer base. Enough said. read more

Great customer service. On recommendation of a friend, I went to see Al. I am a "drop the car off and call me with the scoop later" person. I have always been given detailed information without upselling for services I dont need. I really appreciate that. I had gotten an estimate from another shop and a portion of that work was not necessary and Al explained why I didnt need the extra services. I have since taken all 3 of my vehicles to these guys. They do great work and the price is fair. It is on Rt. 7 in Tyson's Corner on a one way--but a quick u-turn gets you out of the lot on and on your way. read more

I had to have my truck towed to Schmitz to fix a radiator cooling system problem and was afraid the repair assessment would determine that expensive engine repairs were also needed. Jeremy at Schmitz was so helpful and professional. After replacing the radiator, they conducted an engine assessment and determined that no repairs were needed on the engine. I have been going here for about 20 years and have recommended them to everyone I know but, over the last two years it feels like they have gotten too big for their own good. I have had them do just about everything throughout the years but two years ago they changed my muffler, they apparently didn't bother to change clamps and left the old ones, found out last week that's why my truck rattles like a monster. 3 months ago I went in cause the clutch on my truck felt funny, Al's right hand man told me I was the problem cause my floor mat was under the pedal. I chose to go to Schmitz based on their great yelp reviews. thanks yelpers! This place was great. Basically I had several indicator lights that were signaling that something was wrong with my car. Al ran some tests, checked the air pressure on my tires and told me basically my car was safe to drive and they didn't charge me anything. Went here for the first time last week to get an oil change that included a 14-point check. Apparently, the check did not include a check of the fluids, which I found out today after attempting to clear my windshield from a thick dirty layer while driving in snowfall. Not very safe. read more

I have been using Schmitz auto services for years (knows Al, the manager). Everything looks well except a pain in the ass. After completion of services, I need to go another room to pay the cashier. One of the cashiers looks from central or south America speaking in a poor English with a strong accent. However, based on my observation for long time, the guy talked pretty rude and arrogant (e,g yelling loudly) to those non black minorities. Frankly speaking, he is basically a rascal. As a member of our nice community around Tyson Conner, I feel it's my obligation to feedback this incident to the store manager. It's a shame that a great garage there exists such a mean person. read more

I had thought that the neighborhood friendly mechanic was a thing of the past. Right away stepping into this shop I felt a welcome and warm atmosphere. Every day the copy of the day's paper available to read while you wait. I had never been to this location before but by the end of my oil change (which took no time at all!) I was laughing and joking with both the Representatives working behind the counter. From the regulars coming in and out, you can tell this location values personal relationships with their repeat customers, addressing all the customers by name as they came and went. I would frequent this location for the customer service alone but to put the icing on the cake! I had previously had an estimate with another service center that would make the repairs on my car exceed $1,000 dollars. Brain went above and beyond offering me quotes on the work three separate times until we found a fair appraisal of $320.00 to do the work. Not only did I enjoy my time but I found a great deal on the work! Customer for Life! read more
