Today I was need of the Original. I walked in and it wasn't as crowded as I thought with it being lunch time. The place was clean and the side items (chips, drinks Cinnabons) organized. I walked in with one thing on my mind, taste buds and stomach- and ended up ordering something else. I ordered the sliders which were good but not satisfying as my Original would have been. I'm Very upset. The fact that you all served me paper with my Cinnabon. When I called multiple times you all didn't answer. this could have went really left. I could have chocked on this completely. y'all need to do better. This was the location off highway 6 in houston

Blah blah blah, blah blah, blaaaaahhhhhhhh! This place sucks! Not ducks! This place sucks. If only writing a review for a restaurant you thought was OK could be that easy. Nope! OK in all seriousness. The guy at the counter was a complete dumbfounded boy. He must have been eating on some fatties before he clocked in. More like reminded me of Helga's stalker from Hey Arnold (90's cartoon), breathing heavenly down your throat telling you what he doesn't know, uh, uh I don't know nothing. What's the special for Thursday? Uh, I don't know what that is. Uh, we don't have specials here. Can you clean off this soda cans? Stares at you like you are stupid and crazy. He doesn't do it. Why have a salad named everything it has in the bowl? Can I get the raisin, cranberry, Apple, pecan, and chicken salad.. Oh yeah, I want the artisan flatbread. Hehehehe, uh, but which one?! Dooby here speaking. The chicken avocado one. Both were dang good. Come back to the counter to leave. Look at this delinquent cashier that don't know nothing; he didn't even wipe the cans down. Sir, Mr., looks like the manager. We told that other cashier to wipe these cans down and he didn't. The Mister goes and wipes them down. Customer service if you get high as a sky guy will be horrible. He don't care about nobody, but himself. The dining area wasn't clean. Though, mistress ain't nothing to do in the kitchen I'm going to come up here to make it seem like this restaurant is clean..to wipe the tables down. Overall the restaurant was dirty and the staff had clueless written all over them.

Here at 12:30/lunchtime and the place is EMPTY. Wonder why

Lots of seating, great wait staff, and the sandwiches are gigantic--as they should be for the price. $30 for a sandwich on average. We split an open face pastrami (which they brought an extra plate) and we are glad we did. The potato salad is tiny. Too much sandwich for one but not enough potato salad for two! The pickles they provide before your sandwich arrives are yummy- not like a traditional out of the bar pickle. These are what I remember from NYC. Garlic and not sweet. We also had the apple pie alamode. Also pricey and gigantic. It was warm and delicious. Glad we tried this icon. We went at lunch and they get quite the crowd. You are not rushed at all. You can even take some bakery items to go--if you are too full to eat there. Amazing selection of cookies, rugala, black and white cookies and more.

The parking was a bit of a challenge, but it was easy enough because it was a calm Tuesday morning. To get from the parking area to the store, you just take the elevator one level down, and then you're right inside. This place is surprisingly big, filled with all kinds of snacks, cookies, and coffee. The highlight for me was their shawarma breakfast wrap. It was top-notch and exactly what I needed. You choose between whole wheat or white pita, and it's filled with scrambled eggs, your choice of fresh or sautéed spinach, and they add potatoes as well. Then they top it with shawarma chicken, tomato, and a delicious sauce. For $8.5 it was worth every bite. Hands down, a five out of five. I also tried their coffee, which was just a standard brew sitting in ice for hours and nothing special. At $2.50, it was fine, but nothing to write home about. The real stars were the cookies. I got a coconut pecan cookie and an almond crunch cookie, and both were absolutely delicious. I didn't have time to explore the whole store, but there was a great selection of fresh produce, chocolates, and all sorts of small treats. Overall, the staff were really friendly, and the entire visit was smooth. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area. Five out of five stars!

We ordered sliced brisket with mac n cheese, coleslaw, chopped brisket sandwich, and a pecan pie. The sliced brisket was so juicy and tender with so much charred flavor. The meat was cooked to perfection and got me wanting more! The mac and cheese wasn't too overwhelming and actually complemented the meat. As for the brisket sandwich, I thought it was good in terms of the meat, however, I must say it reminded me of sloppy joes too much. If I had to choose, I prefer getting the brisket sliced over chopped. As for the coleslaw, it was fresh and not too overwhelming with the mayo, which I love. The ratio of cabbages and carrots were evenly distributed. Lastly, the pecan pie was not too sweet and really soft yet crunchy. Overall, I would love to come here again, it was honestly one of the best!

Showed up on a Wednesday around 11:45 to a mostly empty restaurant. Its counter service ordering, but very friendly and efficient. My selection was a 5" Deluxe Po Boy which has Ham, Salami, Mozzarella lettuce tomatoes and Mandola's Italian spread. Simple sandwich, but oh so perfect. The bread was perfectly toasted, the cold cuts sliced just right and tasty and the italian spread was the perfect condiment. I'm not normally a cold deli sandwich person, but would order this sandwich over and over again. Since I was solo dining, but wanted to try more than just the sandwich on my first visit I opted for a side of spaghetti and the italian sausage. Dumped the italian sausage on my spaghetti and it was like a small side entree. The sausage was the highlight, but the spaghetti was well cooked and the traditional marinara was flavorful. While I expected the restaurant to be a little more bustling at lunch time, it was a very comfortable experience in the bright open dining area with a great deal of Houston Sports Memorabilia on the walls. I'm very glad to have visited this Houston Restaurant Icon.

The outside is characteristic of what you'd like to see in a neighborhood sandwich shop. The inside felt even more on theme with UH and Houston sports paraphernalia. I must attest tho my chicken Parmesan sandwich was just good. Slightly above average but I wasn't really impressed. Solid meal though. The chicken seems to be marinated to the chicken as it Marinara stuck really well and didn't create too much of a mess. The bread and the chicken were soft and easy to the bite which is an advantage this sandwich has over most. But the flavor was only slightly above average. And the garlic Parmesan bread didn't really make an impact I assume they thought it was (didn't taste it at all). I wish I would've gotten a recommendation before coming here cause I feel like I might've just selected the wrong menu item. I definitely will come back after class one day and try again. It is most definitely worth coming back. The service was welcoming and gives off east-coast neighborhood sandwich shop which I like. Good prices

I had originally wanted to come because I saw that they sold steaks for purchase you can bring home to cook. However, since it was lunchtime and we were already hungry, we decided to grab some lunch as well. We got the 3 meat combo with chicken, brisket, and ribs. It came with two sides and we chose coleslaw and chicken salad. I thought it was nice they had extra protein choices as sides. They also had a tuna salad and egg salad in addition to pasta salad, beans, potato salad and other options. The food came out quickly and the meats were all very tender. However, they just tasted salty. I had a hard time tasting any other spices/flavors which is what I'm accustomed to at other bbq places. The chicken salad was salty as well. It would've been tastier in a sandwich with some crisp greens versus just by itself. Coleslaw was average. Edible but nothing special. Husband thought it was too sweet. I do have to say the service was very friendly. The worker behind the counter gave us the impression that he really wanted to help and make us comfortable. When I found out they only sold bottled water, he offered to go to the back and grabbed us two cups of tap water, which was a nice gesture because he didn't have to. We ended up not getting any other meats because the unpackaged steaks looked dried out and sad in fridge. I wasn't sure if those were the pieces they would sell you or if they were just for display. But for $34.99/lb, I didn't want to risk them giving me the dried out looking steak. Overall, it seemed like people really like this place . The person in front of my husband said this place has the best burgers! And lots of people kept coming in and out. However, for us, this isn't our favorite.
