Fresh cut fries! Rueben was on special for 10 bucks got busy around lunch time - great service and food

Needed gas, so pulled off at this exit for a quick bite. Service was a bit slow even though it wasn't crowded. Got a grilled chicken sandwich with a slice of processed swiss and a side salad. Decor is a bit dated, but my expectations were low. The chicken was dry, which was disappointing, but when you're hungry it doesn't matter too much. read more

Schlepp's was a chance find on a road trip over the summer. The fried fish was as near perfect as I've ever had, my husband's food was great (I can't remember what he had), and my son raves about their grilled cheese kid's meal. The service was very friendly and their desserts top it all off nicely with fresh pies in abundance. Since that first trip, we've been back 3 more times and each time are greeted warmly and have had consistently great service and food. read more

Their food is nice. I did go their a few times. Sometimes their spaghetti sauce was a bit weird but interesting. I like the taste though. Lol I do want more people my age to experience this place. But in all it's has nice food and good service. I heard the boss can be mean if you don't watch it lol. Don't be dumb and act like a human being. Lol I've seen rude people there too. Two stars because the food was decent and came out rather quickly. Other then that nothing. My family and I stopped here mid way on our travels to Missouri. Not knowing the area, but seeing this place had good reviews, we decided to stop and try for breakfast. Unfortunately the place gives off a vibe as if we were still in segregation time. My family and I, being black, felt and knew we were unwelcome. Although we decided to stay due to the time and needing the break from driving, we were uncomfortable the entire time, and made our breakfast visit as short as possible. All eyes were on us as if we were Circus animals. The waitress we had was ok but you could tell she didn't really want to even service us. Definitely wouldn't recommend this place and now know not to hit this restaurant when going driving back home or whenever in the area again. read more

Really good random spot, pulled off 70 headed back to Columbus...great food buttt like many other reviews mention... you could FEEL you weren't really welcome. All conversation stopped and eyes were on us when we opened the door. I don't know if it's because there is no music or what but it was dead ass quiet, I mean not one person was talking, on a Friday 7pm. We took a seat with obvious locals just staring, took about 5 min to get a menu (we talked about leaving that's how uncomfortable we felt), but then the waitress came and a friendly family came in and sat next to us. The food was great and things loosened up a bit as we finished, but damn I've never felt more unwelcome in my life, and I live just a few hours away. read more

Super service, make sure you sit with Hannah! She is positively a delight in the long time family run operation! The food is next level diner delicious. We had some eggs, bacon etc... the standouts 'homemade white bread' taste like heaven- excellent quality eggs that looked beautifully orange in the centers. And the Fried Mush!!!' Have it with a bit of syrup for a fun take on polenta! Oh and I cannot forget to mention the fresh brewed ice tea- sweet or not it was great and hit the spot. Restroom is very clean and abundant with soap and supplies even a blower for drying hands or a paper to for you- choices! Sure the restaurant building looks like it hasn't been painted or updated since they opened but really? Who cares? It totally adds to the charm. We travel frequently between NYC and CA so we will absolutely be back (if even just to meet Hannah's newest edition- wee Colt!) thanks so much and we will see you next October! read more

If you are in the area I do not recommend this place. The food quality has been hit or miss for us when stopping by, they usually forget something, like today forgetting the cheese on my burger. The decor is straight out of the 70s, and the service is just sad. The waitress that I had today was doing fine, until she went up to the front and starting talking bad about the other waitresses. Alike, the boss talks bad on her own workers in the open space. Not stopping here again. read more

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this place while passing through on Interstate 70. It was so much better of an experience than the chain fast food place across the street. I knew when I saw a packed parking lot at 7:00 on a Saturday night, that was a good sign. Within seconds of sitting down, an older gentleman said "nice shirt buddy" and we started talking. It's that kind of place! Other diners and the servers made me feel right at home and talked to me the entire time I ate- it was awesome. The patty melt was excellent! On the road and wanted a place for lunch that wasn't fast food. Schlepp's certainly delivers! It's a family-owned diner and at noontime on Sunday there was quite a cross-section of locals there for both breakfast and lunch. It was busy but we were able to grab spots at the counter without a wait. I opted for the turkey melt and upgraded to the homemade bread. The sandwich was large enough that I was glad I didn't add on fries and coleslaw (a $4 upcharge). Wow was it good! The bread was thick and the turkey flavorful. My companion and I were laughing that we were making 'yummy noises' over the food - it was that good! read more

What a find. Not a road side sign (blue) restaurant. Need to know it's there (or thank Yelp for finding it). This is a real locals joint. They guy from the construction crew in his orange vest. The guy with his tool bag in the company's uniform. A full parking lot. Yeah. The locals come here to eat. And it's right off the exit ramp. Could not be more convenient to get to. Now to the food. Reasonably priced is an understatement. 2 people can eat here for loss than twenty with tip if they wanted. But there's so much good food to choose from. The wings are money. Super meaty. Doused in sauce. Mild is not bland. It has just enough kick. And crispy to perfection. The sandwich list is extensive and hard to choose from. But steak sandwich and meatloaf were done like they ought to be. Waffle fries came out wicked hot and fresh. Really crispy. Can't remember last time had waffle fries this good. Mashed and gravy (brown) is how you want it. Creamy and savory. Way better choice than a chain restaurant. read more

The ribs were wonderful! We ate on the ribs for 2 days! They are a dry rub but they will bring you bbq sauce. Just plain ole home cooking!

Finding some place to eat during a road trip can sometimes be a daunting task. You can try any random exit, but chances are unless you are familiar with the area you are only going to come across fast food and chains. Which is why, on the way home to Cincinnati from Pittsburgh, my wife and I stopped at Schlepp's diner in Belmont, OH. Schlepp's is a hole in the wall diner. Unfortunately, while a welcome break from the monotony of the fast food grind, it was a bit underwhelming. I am going to assume this was because we stopped for a simple, light lunch and didn't have one of the mainstays you would expect at a small "home-cookin'" diner like this. Maybe the meatloaf or the fried chicken or the open steak sandwich would have been outstanding, but still 3+ hours from home we didn't wish to fill our bellies with anything unduly heavy. I had a roast beef hoagie and my wife had a ham and cheese hoagie. I also ordered a side of slaw and we split a side of home potatoes. The sandwiches were about what you'd expect from any sub-par sandwich shop, a Blimpie's, perhaps, but the slaw and the home fries were quite tasty, leading to my belief something more in their "wheelhouse," so to speak, would have been more satisfactory. Also when I go to a diner like this, I expect cheap. I mean CHEAP. This is a hole in the wall diner serving home cooking still sporting its mid-70s décor in BELMONT, OH. Damn near in the middle of nowhere. And our lunch: two sandwiches, two sides, a soda and a coffee, cost us $20 before tip. That seems a little stout to me. If you are in the area, and God knows why you would be, you might stop by if you are tired of Subway or Burger King, but don't stop thinking you are finding a diamond in the rough. Just the same casual, mediocre fare you are liable to find in any good ol' home-cookin' restaurant you stop at anywhere on any highway in the US. read more

I've been going to this restaurant for as long as I can remember. I live a few minutes away and go just about every week, if not more. I've had different opinions through the years and I think this place is moving in the right direction. Overall, the food is okay. The menu is GIGANTIC, so the freshness is hit and miss. The menu is probably overwhelming to first timers, but I've picked my favorite few dishes after all my years here. Cutting down the menu would be beneficial in my opinion. . They've just remodeled here(well, kind of). They've gotten rid of the booths that felt like and old mattress and have replaced them with new and attractive booths. They also purchased tables and chairs. The walls are a pain white vinyl, which beats the hideous peeling wallpaper they had before. The dining room looks so fresh and clean compared to before. I'm very pleased with the decor. Lastly, saving best for last is the staff. I've known most of them so long they feel like friends. Even to first timers, however, they make you feel like a regular customer. Very friendly staff. Overall, Schlepp's is a nice place to stop off of 70 or just enjoy a good meal for the price.
