My dad had a great experience here, so I feel compelled to share it. Initially, after test driving a Regal, something odd happened. He asked for a price...and the salesperson said he couldn't give him one. He said there were some new incentives coming in, so he'd have a price from his sales manager in 2 days. I thought that was incredibly strange -- so what, if my dad wanted a car that day, they wouldn't sell it to him? So two days pass and the salesperson calls. All I'll say is the offer he gave my dad was excellent. I had done my research on True Car, so I knew what he could expect in the way of discounts, and their first offer (albeit after two days) beat what I expected. The car ended up being too cramped for my dad's liking, so he went another route, but the lack of pushiness from the salespeople was really refreshing. Be mindful getting a vehicle from here, check around other gmc dealerships 1st. They are a free standing dealership so they pretty govern therselves, prices on repair, labor and surprise work you need done. I recently went in for a 80$ oil change and ended up spending over 420$ for a battery, with almost 300$ still needed for a wiper blade and two air filters with labor. I was directed to meet with the Sales Mgr. "Gabe" by the owners son, upon arrival Gabe was aware I was coming and put me with a sales person Josh Lichtenfeild . I decided to place an order for a new car . Josh put everything in the computer and said they needed a deposit to order the car. I said wait what is the price. He pointed to the computer and said right there. I said thats MSRP. He yes we don't discount. I said well I could have walked in here not knowing anybody and saw the salesman in the next cubical and got the same price. He then went to the sales mgr. and returned saying they would give me $750.00 off. I decided to think about it and left. I went to Napleton Cadillac in Calumet City where I ended up ordering a new Cadillac for much less than what I would have paid at Schepel. Josh emailed me a couple days later and I told him that I purchased at Napleton. His reply was "Thanks for the update. I hope they have a great service department over there. read more

Horrible people skills from the manager that runs detailing. There was a car waiting for two days and when your remaining employees were asked to complete it by another manager, they got it done. The detailing manager got mad at an employee because they used the CAR WASH to start the detail and fired one of the remaining employees at the detailing shop because she told them not to use it anymore. The manager who has no experience in detailing, fired 3 employees, took alway tools they needed to do their jobs, and gets mad at them because they are able to complete their jobs and thinks she knows more about detailing than THE ACTUAL DETAILERS. I would not recommend getting your detail done here anymore. They are super understaffed and are pulling guys from Buick to come do their details. If you are looking for a detailing job, I would not recommend Cadillac be your first stop unless you want to work in a toxic environment. If this is how Schepel lets new managers treat their employees, who knows how they'll treat their customers. read more

Thank you Jim Werges and the entire service team at Schepel. I had a weird noise coming from under my Terrain. The service team quickly found the issue (someone must have run into my muffler system in a parking garage). Jim listened patiently even though I had no idea how to describe it. Every single time I service my Terrain, the staff is knowledgeable and patient. I've never had to wait longer than promised, and if for some reason, I've had to leave the vehicle more than a day, they've always offered to arrange for a service vehicle or rental. I felt compelled to write this review after reading other very positive comments--if the other reviews are real, they certainly do not paint an accurate picture of this car dealer. I am a repeat customer, previously satisfied with my experience buying a GMC Terrain from Schepel. Following my first positive experience, I returned to buy another SUV in January 2015, and my experience couldn't have been more different. The perfectly reasonable person I originally purchased from retired, and I was instead treated to some of the most pushy and aggressive salesmen I've ever experienced. These guys are the same caliber of Las Vegas timeshare salesmen. The salesman I was "lucky" enough to have been assigned, Bruce, knew very little about the cars for sale. I mean, almost nothing at all. I asked pretty straightforward questions and every answer was "sure" or "I think so." His favorite was "absolutely no problem." I needed more detail--so when I asked for specific answers, he made up the answers he knew I wanted to hear. And I fell for it. Having the misfortune of going through with the purchase, I later found out that nearly everything I asked about (and was specifically looking for) was not in the vehicle I ended up with. I can't tell you how frustrated I feel that I'm now paying more for a lesser quality car. I was lied to. And after calling for clarification on my options to remedy the issue, none of my calls were returned. Not a single one, over three weeks. On my fourth or fifth call--I was hung up on. My experience here was a nightmare, and I'll never take my vehicle back or buy another from Schepel again. read more

I am happy to say that while GMC did nothing about the serious issue they have with the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 line of trucks, Schepel did step up and offer a fair resolution. We brought in our 2003 GMC Envoy. It could not pass emissions and the service department, from our very first phone call, was confident they could help us. We received an appointment and from the moment they had our vehicle, they kept in constant contact with us. They informed us of all the issues they found as they came up. Dawn at Schepel was instrumental in all of this communication. When it became apparent we had more problems than could quickly be fixed, we were offered the use of a courtesy car even though our vehicle was no longer under warranty. The courtesy car was very nice and we enjoyed the use of it. Brought my girlfriend who is new to the area in to purchase a vehicle. We had done all of our research online and based on her criteria had selected the Buick Encore. We arrived at the dealership and met Bruce. Although they had a HUGE selection of vehicles they did not have the color / feature combination that she wanted. Bruce was super helpful and offered to locate a vehicle for her that met her criteria. She took a test drive to make sure that she loved driving the vehicle and she did. When she got back Bruce had her fill out a credit app so all she would have to do is sign for the vehicle when it arrived. The process took less than an hour and the delivery process was also smooth. What a nice experience! Had the car waiting for me when I came to test drive and got me financing despite not the best credit at a fair rate. My salesperson, Rob was the best. Low pressure and honest. Now I did have a problem with the starter, after I bought it, but it was under warranty. Kerry in the service department was just as great. Totally sympathetic since it happened while on vacation. Gave me nice GMC Terrain for a loaner. Everyone here from sales to the secretaries are pleasant to deal with. As the writing of this review, I have not buy a car from here, yet. BUT... I have been in the dealership a couple of times now and am confident that if the right car comes in, I will be getting it from here. I inquired about a car that I found on their website; unfortunately, it was just sold but the Internet sales guy, Daniel, told me about a couple of other cars that were similar and still in stock. Even though I stopped in unannounced, he was very helpful and showed me a few cars that were really close to what I'm looking for. He was able to answer every question I had; some of which were pretty technical. Unlike another dealership I was at, where the guy just BSed every other question. I'm not in a huge hurry to buy and will wait till the right deal comes along but I would have no reservation in going back. I'll update this review again if/when I get a car from them. read more

David asked me exactly what I wanted and when I walked in today he said I have the perfect car for you. Beautiful, low miles, and hand picked by him. He passed me on to his brother Tim who handled all the paperwork and heavy lifting. He was back and forth with Steve in the financial department. We really liked our experience at Schepel for a variety of reasons. Although we acknowledge that they certainly wanted our business, we never felt overly pushed into making a purchase. All of the incentives, features, etc. were explained very thoroughly so we knew we weren't going to encounter any hidden fees or "gotcha" moments. Finally, our salesperson made us feel like we were old friends. Our antsy 3 year old, instead of being looked at like a nuisance, was treated with so much kindness that we knew Schepel would probably be getting our business. We felt respected from beginning to end, and we will certainly tell anyone looking to purchase a car to look here first. Edited on 2/25: Months later, I wish I could give them an even higher rating. In the time between our purchase and now, we've gotten notes and calls checking in on us, excellent service at our oil change, and even an incredibly kind donation to the charity event I am organizing. I had never heard of Schepel until Edmunds.com gave me their name with the edmunds price promise deal. I figured this price would include a bunch of rebates that almost no one would qualify for, but I called them anyway. We had been to other dealers and knew the exact car we wanted so it all got down to price. I talked to Steve the manager and told him the exact car we wanted that I had looked up on their website inventory. He gave me a better price than what Edmunds had said (it's rare when a dealer will quote a price on the phone, they don't want you shopping around) and it was also much lower than other dealers I had checked with. I told him we would probably be in the next day to look at it and he said ok (no pressure at all). The next day we show up and Steve had a salesman named Daniel help us out. I had a list of (literally) about 50 questions about the features on the car (I knew the majority of the answers already, but wanted to be sure). Daniel answered every question correctly. His knowledge really impressed us. We went to his office and he had our trade-in appraised. The trade-in value was lower than other places we had been to, but what really matters is the net cost of the new car's negotiated price minus the trade-in. That was much lower than other places we had been to. We agreed to buy it and filled out the paperwork without problems. Then the finance manager came in (that's when the high pressure usually starts to buy extended warranties, paint packages, etc.). It took about a minute to sign the final paperwork and never once were we asked about buying anything additional. There also weren't any made-up charges like clean-up, nitrogen in the tires, and all the other stuff dealers sometimes try to add at the end because they figure you really don't care about a couple hundred extra dollars at that point. Then Daniel recommended a local restaurant we could go to while the car was being prepped for delivery. We had a good meal and when we returned Daniel sat us in the car and explained every feature of it. He knew everything about that car! We are totally satisfied with our purchase from Schepel and will return there in about a year to look for a 2018 something to replace for our new Buick Lacrosse. read more

First service experience--stopped in for an oil change--everyone at lunch--at the same time--at least 2 hours wait--really? Quite a dismissive attitude. Second experience, after an accident--a "select" site of State Farm--so gave them a chance....charged $52 for an oil change (agreed, since it was almost time) and they suggested they do the "60,000 service" that was about to be due, since it was in. That included a radiator service--for the brand new-refurbished radiator that State Farm had just paid for--but they insisted that it needed to be done anyway--to the replacement radiator-- to the tune of over $700 total. In addition, the windshield washer did not work after service, had to go back, and they tried to charge ANOTHER $70 for reconnecting the hose THEY disconnected. Quite an interesting place. Probably much better at selling than servicing--one can only hope. read more

I told them that I was going to buy by the end of the week and that I did not want to haggle. Schepel's Steven Ogrentz gave me the lowest sale price immediately with no haggling like I had asked. I walk in around 230pm to ask about getting an oil change. There are four employees sitting in the service area. They say "may i help you", and i tell them i want an oil change. One employee says we only work off appointment, but it is $49.99. Now, there are at least 8 empty bays, and employees sitting around joking. This is why i change my own oil. There are a lot of places that work off appointment, but they take walk-ins when it is slow. All i needed was an oil change, not a motor. read more

Dealership kept or lost my wheel key and i didnt realize it was missing until i had a flat tire and needed the tire removed. Used my gm roadside assistance but had to have my car towed to schepel to locate the wheel key and was treated despicably. Left my car and keys at the dealership in the "early bird drop box" never recieved a call to confirm what services i needed, i called the dealership myself and was told by Jim Frump that the dealership also couldnt locate the key, they had no clue what happened to it. Mr. Frump seemed paniced and only asked what time i needed my car back by-never asked if i wanted a new tire or put the spare on once they located the wheel key- just what time do u need it by. When we arrived to pickup the car we were told "it was in the console the whole time" referring to the previously lost wheel key. The service cashier at schepel gave us a total of $191 though i had never been asked what services i wanted done to my vehicle, after my husband asked that the new tire theyd put on the car without our consent be removed the service cashier laughed in our face and told us "you want me to remove the tire???" It seems that schepel values customers during their intital purchase and after they have your money couldnt care any less about the service they provide you. Jim frump wouldnt even hold a conversation about the fact that he told me the wheel key was lost and then meraciously was in the console the whole time? Schepel twists your arm to complete the sales survey after the initial purchase instructing you to give them all 10s or 5 stars "or they dont get 100%" and i can now see why. Their service departments customer service is atrocious, theyve proved to us they do not care about their customers. There is a large dissconect in Communication between the dealership and customers, all they care about is you faking their surveys.
