Working with Louis Welby was one of the most frustrating experiences I've had as a property owner…read more I hired him in mid-December and paid half upfront. The project was estimated to take about a week, as I was trying to have the property ready for a tenant by January 1st. Instead, he ripped up the kitchen subfloor and left a large hole uncovered for nearly two weeks. During that time, he asked for the remaining balance, saying he needed it to pay bills. Because it was the holidays and he shared personal struggles he was going through, I felt pressured and paid the remaining amount. Despite sending additional gas money to help him get to the job site, very little progress was made. I was unable to show the property to prospective tenants because the work was incomplete and the space was left in disarray. The workmanship was also unacceptable. The door he installed had to be redone because it was secured with cabinet screws and would not close properly. The new flooring is already sinking in soft spots because he failed to properly replace the damaged subfloor. By the last week of January, after over 1 month of delays and substandard work, I decided to cut my losses and hire someone else to correct and complete the project. I would not recommend hiring him.

He took over $6,600 in payments, left every single work unfinished, and made the deck unsafe. He took payment by Venmo and despite repeated follow-ups, he has stopped responding and disappeared. Painting: Incomplete after 2 months of hiring. Extremely shoddy work and used low quality paint in-spite of agreeing to use higher quality paint. Deck: Asked him to repair existing deck. Left after putting deck boards in. Left a 2 inch gap between the patio door and deck, making the deck unsafe and unstable. AC: Tinkered with the AC and damaged it--had to pay another company to fix it. Electrical and general honey do list: Took money upfront to purchase materials (ceiling fans, drywall, plumbing and electrical, about ~$1000). He claimed expertise in electrical, AC, plumbing and exterior work, all fake. He has not shown up after taking money for work that was never started. Everything is left partially done and I am getting it fixed from others. I'm now pursuing legal action. Avoid this contractor--completely untrustworthy and has no clue of what he is doing.

We had a contract for a residential solar array, batteries, and an EV car charger with a company…read morewhich used Brda Electric as a sub contractor. The company we contracted with? I have some colorful words for them. The people at Brda Solar who actually did the work? I could write a book about how pleased we are with their work, their professionalism, their abilities to take a poor situation and make it work, their dedication to getting the job done and done right. I only wish we would have known about them and contracted directly with them. From Lauren in the office to Joe, Francisco, Jeremiah, and a couple of other guys who (I am sorry that names escape me) who were all a part of this project at our home, we thank you so much for not only doing the work, but passively calming me down when I would see your truck pull up in our driveway. Joe and Francisco especially went above and beyond with amazingly great attitudes on Christmas Eve. That they even had to work that day pissed me off, but they and their people in the office were dedicated to get this project in service before the end of the year. I would never have expected anyone to work on Christmas Eve. I am grateful that they did. I have already told many people about our unacceptable experience with our contractor, and have dropped the BRDA name more as the people to take care of their solar projects as well as any other electrical needs they may have. My husband and I both agree that we will be calling Brda for any of our electrical needs in the future simply because of the overall expertise their Solar group brought to this project. Thank you, Thank you. Thank you. (Told you I could write a book...)

This company has a very friendly customer support staff and they answer their phones very quickly…read more However, I was disappointed in the timeliness of their service. I had a survey appointment scheduled for 8am or some time after with intent to install eight light fixtures with alumni-con connectors. Their technician arrived exactly at 10am, 2 hours after my expectation, and something most people would agree was already late. While I was advised in advance that the technician may not be there right at 8am, and their office did call me to say Shane their tech was running late, consider how precious time is to a customer, and especially for a customer who has to take a day off from work for the scheduled inspection and potential iob. I am a retired service member who spent 22 years showing up to work daily on time. Timeliness is the hallmark of an effective organization and is what traditionally has made this country great. It is a major turnoff for me to be 2 hours late. I was also expecting the job to be fulfilled same day as I reasonably believe most proficient electricians could get my job of 8 fixtures done in a day if they showed up early. I even offered to help take down the light fixtures if that would make the job go by faster. I was told by Shane, their technician, BRDA would most likely have to come back another day to complete the job. In addition, they wanted over $3,000 to change 8 light fixtures, which did include relocating two bathroom fixtures by about two feet, which i consider high. I was previously quoted $940 for the same job by another certified electrician m. The cost for the Brda survey was $99 which is reasonable, but the guy spent no more than 40 mins at my place and didn't do anything except take a few pics and make what I feel is an overpriced survey. The previous $940 quote I received from another company was given for free. This aside, Shane was professional and friendly and so was Jason and Erica. Be on time, I cannot stress how much people value this. Based on the late arrival and their high price, I declined their services and admit my experience may be a one off given all the other great reviews . However, a customer does have to wonder how one licensed company can quote $940 and another licensed company quotes the same work for over $3k, a 2k difference! I did my own math on this. A $3,000 quote breaks down to approximately $350 in parts and $2,650 in labor, implying an effective rate of $220-$330 per hour. Ridiculous pricing!

The job was small and completed in about 20 minutes. However, I guess they charge a minimum of one-hour and a 20 dollar truck fee. That seems pretty standard. The lovely peeps at Metro Lighting recommended this company. Best recommendation ever. Electricians aren't cheap & so are other people who come over to fix stuff at your house. Casey Electric charges $91/hour with a $20 truck fee. After several phone calls, I finally got an appointment. Note, they will ask if they can come over at 7 AM (which I highly suggest). Having a newly built home doesn't guarantee that things will go smoothly. Shit can happen & that shit can cause several hours of troubleshooting & headaches as it happens often at my house. In any case, Kevin came over at the appointed hour (7 AM) to start work. He installed my kitchen light & did other electrical things in a beautiful manner. I anticipated a long 8 hour day, but luckily the entire job took only 4 1/2 hours. They only take cash or check. Always overestimate the amount as I did if you are paying with cash & have change with you.
