I needed an extra outlet - so I could plug in a central vacuum power head - and it wasn't in the right spot. So I call "another" company that had good Yelp ratings and explain the job. Simple enough - cut a hole in the drywall next to the stud, hang a single gang box, connect the power wires that are already in the wall one foot away, splice and cap, push it back in and done. Hour job, max. Ground floor, tile floor, easy peasy. Price? Well, that will be a "minimum charge" of $225. What? Really? Go back to Yelp and Next Door. Read all the reviews - hmm, Dwell Electric. Oh wait, I know Jason B, and it's his dad, and they are good people. Check that box. So I call and get Paul on the line. He's in the middle of a job, so he asks to call me back. He does. He can be over not tomorrow, but Wednesday. Does that work? Of course it does. 1pm? Perfect. Paul shows up 15 minutes early. Gets greeted by two large German Shepherds, whom he loves and pets and who follow him like trained assistants. Takes a look, says yes, easy job to do. Price? $125 - perfect. Let's go. Opens the wall - wait, their are wires but they aren't hot. What? Checks all the breakers and panels. Hmmm. Apparently when the house was built no one bothered to connect the power for all the 'direct connect central vacuum lines". Darn. That explains why the direct connect wouldn't work and why I'm having an extra outlet installed....Oh well - Paul's like, let's just connect power from over "here" (light switches) in the wall and do some extra work and wiring and maneuvering - ok, no problem, let me know if the cost goes up...Nope. No worries. Job completed in 30 minutes tops. Looks great. Still $125. Paul is an honest business person who charges a fair price and can handle anything from outlets to can lighting installation to complete home projects. He works almost exclusively in the Encinitas - Carlsbad area, so he's local and available and has two other guys just like him at Dwell. Give them a call and you'll be glad you did. I guarantee it, and so do my dogs. read more

Very professional, friendly, knowledgable. Paul answered the phone promptly, easily made an appointment, called prior to arriving and arrived on time. Quickly and easily performed the work. Dwell Electric installed 3 ceiling fans with wall switches at our home and did an excellent job at a good price. Dwell responded promptly to my initial inquiry and the job was scheduled and completed quickly and professionally. Paul with Dwell is a nice guy who does good work and I would definitely use this company again. Brendan M. read more

I recently bought a house in Encinitas and have been working with numerous contractors and vendors. I had a great experience with Dwell Electric. I'm thrilled with my gorgeous recessed lights, and the price was very reasonable. Easily the best investment I've made in my house. I echo everything others said about Paul being very responsive, courteous and knowledgeable, and the work being done promptly, efficiently and perfectly. Will definitely use again. read more

I had previously reviewed this company as a two star but am changing it to a one star. Do not use this company. It took Paul 6 times to come and complete the job. Code violation were found and when I asked him to come and fix them he acted like o was bothering him because I needed the job done correctly. He was rude, short and never even apologized for the inconvenience. I feel to that because I am a female he thought he didn't need to use due diligence in completing the job. I have filed a complaint with bbb. read more

Paul was very prompt and easily diagnosed our electrical problem in our kitchen. He offered a free estimate for your first visit, and was honest upon his assessment and cost. Would use him again for sure. read more

Had a great experience working with Paul from Dwell Electrics. He was very professional, provided a written bid. Came back in Saturday with his workers and took care of everything for us! We had 2 lighting fixtures installed (one on a 20 plus foot ceiling) put in brand new LED canned lighting units in our kitchen, added 5 more in the dining room, and added dimmer switches to the outlets. We had a reign ground wiring problem that he was able to fix as well. They were very neat and tidy and covered everything in plastic and cleaned up after they were done. I couldn't be more pleased. I highly recommend Dwell! read more

Patient, reasonable price, friendly, efficient, available, on time. Dwell even went the extra mile to fix some loose wires that were hazardous. A+ service all the way! Will definitely call them again for all of our electrical needs. read more

Paul and his installers were very professional, did great work and at a fair price. I look forward to working with his team again!

Paul Buscema from Dwell Electric did a fantastic job. From the moment I was referred to him, he called me right away and left me an email message. He was able to come over and give me a free estimate on what it would take to fix my ceiling fan, and figure out why my new t.v. kept blowing the breaker in the upstairs bathroom. I accepted his quote and he came out the next day. He was always extremely professional and courteous, and finished everything early actually, and fixed it all. He arrived on time both for the quote and the work. I would highly recommend his company if you need any type of electrical work. read more

dwell electric came out and installed 2 fans and rewired a 3rd. The electrician did a great job and added dual switches so the light is separate from the actual fan. I would recommend them!! read more

There are not many businesses like dwellelectric anymore. Paul was wonderful! I was in a crunch situation in the middle of doing the stucco for the outside of our home. Long-story-short, we decided at the last minute to move all our outside lights with sensors up a few feet for safety reasons. We needed it done in a matter of two days so that our stucco contractor could keep to his timeline for the project. I quickly interviewed three contractors and secured bids. They were all in the same ball park. One could not do the work so quickly, the second contractor immediately looked for a short cut to the job that would not have been good for us in the long run. Since Paul could do the job quickly and was reasonable priced, I went with him. Paul tacked me on to the end of his busy work week because I needed it done right away. He showed up at around 2:30 on a Friday afternoon and did not leave until around 7:15 that night. I had him add a whole new light and put in a new power outlet since I was moving all the outside lights up. Since my stucco contractor would work around the two outside power outlets, Paul said that he would not put on the utility cover boxes until after the stucco was done. He said to call him when it was done. I actually called and he came within a few days to put those boxes on. Who does that??? Dwellelectric does! He did what he said he would do even though he had been fully paid. I did hundreds and hundreds of dollars of natural stone work at the same time. A day after the job was completed, a piece fell off. The contractor has not returned after four weeks to back up his work and reputation for one piece of stone! Paul at dwell, for a job a fraction of the cost, backed his name and company up with quality service and pricing, warmth, and a smile. Well done Paul, thanks so much. We will use you again and have already recommended you to friends. If you Yelpers took the time to read this whole review, don't use anyone else. Go with dwellelectric you will be glad you did! read more

Paul was fantastic! Look no further for an honest, kind, friendly, and hard working electrician. He came out within 24 hours of calling to give us a quote on a project he knew was 2 months away. Gave us a very fair quote (very competitive) and stuck with that for the entire project. He generously came and completed the project in two phases, like we requested, for no additional charge. When my contractor was late finishing up on day one of the project, Paul rearranged his schedule so he could come the next day. He stayed late into the evening and came promptly the next morning to complete everything. He cleaned up the job site and even took away all the boxes and old fixtures. We are VERY pleased with his work and will highly recommend him to friends/family. We got A++ service from Paul and Dwell Electric! read more

I'm a "hard grader". I don't rate people 5 stars unless they are really, REALLY good. Paul at Dwell was prompt, cheap, and good. Remember the old adage, "You can it good, cheap, or fast - choose any two?" Well, they're all three. My HIGHEST recommendation. read more

Paul and his team made the process very easy. Getting a free estimate was easy, fast and accurate. Their scheduling was very flexible and they showed up on time as well as being very efficient during the entire job. They left all work areas spotless once the job was complete. Extremely satisfied with this company, thank you! read more

I just had Paul from dwell electric installed a new ceiling light with dimmer in our baby room. Paul is very polite, installation was fast and correct and he put down the plastic during the installation to the keep the room clean and vacuumed room again after the installation. We recently moved into our house and have several minor electrical issues to iron out. Dwell was my first and last call on Monday morning. I asked Paul how much it would be for him to come out and troubleshoot our issues - he said he could come out the same day and the estimate was free. He came over promptly, removed his shoes at the door without me asking, and solved our problems quickly at a very fair price. We have several upcoming projects big and small and i am sure i will have Paul handle the electrical. Finding a good electrician who won't gouge you on price on the first phone call was akin to finding a needle in a haystack. Whatever your needs, you can't go wrong by calling Dwell. Thanks Paul! read more

I will make this quick. If you need an electrician, call Paul first. Fast, friendly, reliable and reasonably priced. Will use in the future without a doubt. read more

Called Dwell Electric late Monday afternoon after finding bathroom sockets all out. GFI wall socket would not reset. Paul said he was booked for Tuesday but could call me Tuesday evening to include us in his Wednesday schedule. Paul called last night and was here at exactly 8am which was the time we agreed upon. Paul investigated and determined the problem was an outdoor socket on back patio which was on the same circuit. Monday's heavy rain had caused moisture to enter this socket. It was dry now and Paul installed a protective cover which will preclude this issue in the future. Paul also replaced a wall socket in our bedroom which had loose wires and was a potential fire hazard. My wife and I were both very impressed with how professional Paul is. He knows what he is doing and is an excellent communicator. We will call Paul again for electrical repairs or new work such as adding outdoor plugs. A pleasure to meet Paul and I should add that his charge for the work done today was very fair. read more

Dwell Electric is the best. I chose Dwell based on the excellent reviews and found that they were well deserved. Paul came out even earlier than the scheduled time, found the source of the problem and finished the job very quickly. He is knowledgeable, competent and a pleasure to work with. And importantly, his charges are very reasonable. A rare and welcome combination. read more

Paul, owner of Dwell Electric, was excellent. He came out to give us a bid for about four different electrical projects, including removing and replacing an attic fan, bathroom exhaust fan/heater/light, two sets of exterior motion activated floodlights, as well as searching for the reason our electric outlets were not working. He got to our jobs in a day or two. Paul listens very well, is patient, calm, and very knowledgeable. His charges are quite reasonable. Interestingly, a five star Yelp review electrician sent out workers to see what we needed done, but never got back to us with an estimate. I would strongly recommend Dwell. Not even a return phone call. read more

We needed to have a ceiling fan installed. Paul gave me the most reasonable estimate. He came when he said he would and did the work for the agreed upon price. He took care to leave the room clean. We were so happy with his work that we arranged for him to come back the next day and move a wall switch to a different wall. We were just as pleased with the second job. We will definitely keep this company at the top of the list of electricians to call if we need additional work. read more

So happy we hired Paul. I had him install a new line for future HVAC installation and canned lights in several rooms. As he was installing them we decided to add another hallway and bedroom. Paul said no problem and was able to add it to the work they were already doing. Paul and his crew were kind, conscience of pets in the house and overall did fantastic work! read more

I recently needed help installing APPLE TV in one of my rooms. I called DWELL ELECTRIC, as I have used them in the past, and have always been very satisfied. Jason came to the house, and I was very pleased with the professionalism, as well as great service. And, they are very reasonable.
