We are preparing to sell out home and I had a home inspection done prior to listing and the inspector took one look at the Sylvania electrical panel and flipped his lid. I was given Charlie McCarty's name from a construction contractor friend and called. He answered and scheduled to meet me at my home the next day. He not surveyed the electrical panel, but inspected each and every outlet in the house. He agreed with everything the home inspector stated in his assessment, and even added a few things that needed to be addressed before St Louis County sent someone for an Occupancy permit inspection. Charlie's computer died the night before his visit, but it did not stop him from meeting me at the agreed upon appointment time. He kept in touch with me as he got his system restored. He sent a crew to the house to handle all the work required after getting the necessary work permits. The proposal was fair (far less than I imagined) and the work was handled in swift fashion. there were a few minor things that got missed, but were corrected with just one phone call. I am not one to gush over people doing their job, but when a small business owner stands up to the job he bids, then stands behind the workmanship and takes full responsibility, I feel I need to let everyone know.

When you call for a home maintenance/service call (plumbing, electric, AC, heat, etc) and a company tells you it's $199 for a trip charge and they'll only give you an actual quote once they get there and see what needs to be done. It's usually a request for something they do multiple times a day - they could easily give you the number beforehand, but no - they want to have you on the hook for the trip charge and then try to rip you off on overpriced quotes and if you decline, you had to pay the trip charge.
