Not impressed by first visit…read more Went with a group of 9 for lunch. We had a reservation. We were not the only group, but I believe, the largest. One server in the entire restaurant, and he was also the bartender. Too much for only one person to be able to manage. By the time half of us were able to place our drink orders, the other half had already ordered and been served their drinks. Caesars were mostly ice, with very little "Caesar". Two of us were excited to order liver, bacon, and onions as we rarely see it on menus. Plates arrived with liver, (garlic?) mashed potatoes, one piece of broccoli, one piece of cauliflower, and extremely undercooked carrots that neither of us could eat as they were so hard. There was only a very passing acquantance with onions, with only a couple of visible bits of onion in the gravy on my plate. Both plates were delivered with steak knives. My slices were very thin and extremely tough. When you can barely manage to cut through a thin piece of liver with a steak knife, that's a problem. The woman beside me, who had also ordered liver, thoughly enjoyed hers, and said it was tender and delicious. I will agree with "delicious", as I couldn't fault the flavour. Mine, however, was far from being tender. I had to fight to cut through it, even with the steak knife. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meal. Not sure I would try Railside again if ever in the area.

Salad, entree and dessert were all perfectly prepared and nicely plated. Their small serving crew were all amazing, providing a 3 course lunch to over 100 theatre-bound patrons in under 90 minutes. Giving this restaurant 5 stars... with pleasure!

What an absolutely charming little restaurant in Port Hope! We were driving through and a bit…read morehungry, so of course I checked Yelp and saw everyone's great reviews of this place. We were in for a very early lunch on a Thursday, so it was fairly empty and we had our pick of seats. They have outdoor seating, but we opted for indoors just to avoid the heat wave. The interior is decorated really beautifully. Super cute and cozy. We ordered the pierogis with cheese and the cabbage rolls. It was the most comforting food. The pierogis were soft, with a lovely, homemade dough wrapping. It was topped with some caramelized onions that paired perfectly with the refreshing sour cream. The cabbage rolls were amazing. It tastes like something you grew up with - just a warm memory. Delicious tomato sauce, lovely cabbage wrap with a nice light filling. The rice and pork were seasoned so perfectly. With the dollop of sour cream on top, it was perfect. I would 100% want to come back again next time we drive through Port Hope. I am just craving the cabbage rolls so much! Highly recommend!!

The food was outstanding, we found ourselves repeatedly sharing our plates and experiences. Highly recommend this spot to anyone and everyone. True Ukrainian cuisine at its finest.
