This restaurant has a neutral smell to it, which, while it takes away from the first impression, proves to be an upside because you can smell the unique aroma of what you ordered. The interior is what it was under the old ownership, a Greek-inspired ambiance with music included, and the staff are as attentive and friendly as always. I was visiting canada and my relative said this was the best burger spot in the area. I'm a classic style burger enjoyer so I had high expectations for this place. I got a zeus burger with fries. The burger visually looked impressive with its very thick patty. After a few bites, the burger's juices were dripped out everything. Texture wise, it was great. The disappointment was the meaty taste of the patty itself. I was expecting stronger meatiness but it felt light to me. It didnt taste like a "burger". All I really tasted was the onions and mushrooms. Side note, the fries were pretty good. Overall, a letdown for me. Ranked within the most mouth watering burgers in the world by Microsoft. It was ranked 18th out of 32 for the "Most Mouthwatering Burgers in the World" by Microsoft Network (MSN) in late 2024, and has been named the best burger in Canada by Canadian Living magazine and one of the top ten by Food Network Canada in different years. I must be an outlier, with all the good reviews (fake or real?) my review is not so good, average at best. I'm old school, enjoy my burgers flattop grilled with a nice carmelized savory crust. 80/20 meat/fat ratio with a authentic beefy flavor. The Zeus burger had none of the above. For the price, burger was small. Surprisingly the added peameal bacon did not add anything to the burger flavor profile. I remember one honest review where the comment was " it looks like a burger but doesn't taste like a burger" that should have been a red flag to me. To top it off, the sweet potato fries were burnt. One saving grace of the staff were smiley, very nice and polite. Goes to show, these "top ten, most delicious" lists should be taken with a grain of salt, let your palette be the final judge. Enjoy the food of the Gods at Olympus Burger! I loved everything here from the theming from the decor to the item names. Each menu item is named after a different Greek God/Goddess. They offer seating both inside and out on their patio. We were greeted warmly upon entering. The staff were all friendly and enthusiastic. When you enter, you order & pay first and you'll be given a number. When your food is ready, they'll bring the food to your table. I had the chance to try the While spending the afternoon in Port Hope with my family, we came across this great restaurant near the East Side Beach. Following COVID-19 Guidelines, they only offered outdoor seating. Both in a sit-down dining option on dishware, and in a takeout at the picnic tables option. I think the main difference was that on the official patio, there is a seat capacity. We had a group of 5 so we were only able to sit at the picnic tables. After taking a look at their menu, we decided to go with: Demeter - Black bean burger ( add the chipotle mayo ) Dionysus - Build Your Own - Beef Burger Dionysus - Build Your Own - Chicken Burger Kid's Burger - Build Your Own - Veggies on a Bun The ordering process was quick and efficient, it really only took 15min for our order to be ready. the staff were also so kind and friendly and very willing to accommodate our requests. I ordered the Beef burger but got the chance to try both the Chicken Burger & the Black Bean Burgers. All three were delicious, but there were a few things I wasn't expecting. If you ask for lettuce on your burger, you will get mixed greens instead. It was slightly disappointing to not have some crunchy cool lettuce, but not a deal breaker. If you pay extra for the cheddar cheese, it will be shredded cheese melted on to the bun not a slice. The Kids Burger is tiny, if you ever order the kids burger, be aware that it's really small, it's essentially the size of a slider. A great option for kids but not the best choice for someone looking for a snack. Lastly, if you're a fan of very well done fries, you will love theirs, but if not, I would suggest asking for lightly done fries. We got a few orders of fries and they were really well done, we went back to the counter to ask about them, and they gladly offered us some complimentary replacement fries. They were so great! They are these great thick-cut home made fries that you just can't stop eating. On my to Montreal, this place was suggested to me to stop off to grab a burger. Glad I did! It's a small place, nothing fancy, but they do their burgers well! You can order off their menu (or their secret menu - look it up)! and they will even accommodate your requests if you want to do minor substitutions. First time trying this place, we ordered 2 burgers combo with fries and onion rings, and 2 mini burgers. In the beginning we were going to sit inside, but kids wanted outside, so we picked a table under the shade. After the food arrived, the bees came and my kids were screaming, so we have to switch it inside. The waiter helped us move the food inside, and no matter if we sit inside or outside, they keep checking on us and offering refill (drinks are unlimited refills). Delicious burgers and amazing staff! Ordered: Zeus burger Apollo burger Olympus poutine Their COVID-19 patio setup was very dog-friendly and they were so kind to our dog. They even brought out a dog bowl of water for him while we sat and ate. Upon ordering we were advised that it would be a 40 minute wait, and boy am I glad we waited. Love that there are vegetarian friendly options on the menu as well as healthy choices (salads, whole wheat buns, etc) if that's what you are after. My bae typically orders off the secret menu (shhh! visit their website, its online!) and my favourite order is the Calypso (portobello mushroom burger with greek cheese - so good!). Great spot and super tasty burger! I forget the name of it (all burgers have Greek mythology name associated with it), but I ordered their lamb-burger. Great quality meat and naturally it paired well the the feta, tzatziki and other toppings that came with it. It was made fresh to order. I upgraded my side of fries to their take on poutine. I think it was mostly the same but also had sauteed onions. Good ingredients, but I don't think the fries were salted at all and I found that I personally didn't enjoy the onions with it. Perhaps a better idea in theory than in practice - for me at least. Certainly worth a stop, and it's barely a few minutes off the 401. Olympus Burger is located on the corner of Peter and Mill street in the town of Port Hope. A few minutes down from the 401 in a tiny town known as Port Hope is a place that has gained notoriety that I was quite happy to learn about through word of mouth. Sure, this business known as Olympus Burger has been featured on TV shows but only until one can actually experience the place for themselves can one truly understand that this place truly deserves the attention they've been given. You've Gotta Eat Here, I never watch it. I've not been influenced by that. The Food Network, sure I watch it from time to time but I've not seen whatever show it was on. Not until my fellow Yelp friends had mentioned Olympus as a potential stop on their way to Montreal did I ever bother to give this place any sort of consideration. Well I didn't know about it before at all and in this case ignorance was not bliss. I was on my way home from Montreal while my friends were on their way to Montreal and while they were discussing Olympus I was saying to them I'd check it out on my way home and let them know what I thought. We were the only ones waiting outside like beef patty stalkers not even waiting for the business to open before attempting to get in before the official opening. It was a long drive and we've been awake since about 5:30 and didn't eat a thing. I had so looked forward to having a meal at this place. Finally it was official and we'd be allowed to enter not as trespassers but as customers! We ordered at the counter and we both went with custom burgers. I've had a good opportunity to see all the options including the not so secret "secret" menu online and eventually decided I'd just build my own burger. I went with both blue and aged cheddar topped with bacon slices and peameal bacon with and a combo of a fountain drink and an Olympus poutine. The Olympus poutine includes curds, caramelized onions, gravy and crumbled real bacon. Poutines and such can be added as a combo instead of just regular fries with just paying the difference. There is also a check in for 25% off the combo add on which also contributes to the value of the meal. OK so this place is the 2017 winner of the best burger in Canada as per Canadian Living magazine. Supposedly some contest between this place and some other place in Calgary took place. I don't follow that publication so I didn't really dig too deep. Again, some other accolade that Olympus can hang their hat on that I never bothered to research was just another thing they can lay claim to but had no influence in my decision to visit them. With all the expectations I may have had going into this place I find that when places are renown or have gained fame through means of the media that those expectations can be skewed. My best example of that is Maha's in the east end of Toronto. Long line ups even on a random Tuesday at 1pm and finally getting in and waiting a long time to be finally served food only to get what was good but not great and meeting the expectations is a let down. Sometimes hype is something that places have to live up to because they could be a victim of their own success. I had said repeatedly if I didn't already get the point across that my visit to Olympus had to do strictly with my friends' recommendations and nothing the media had to offer so my experience was not necessarily influenced with great expectations of what should be deemed something rated as the best in our country. My impression of Olympus regardless of the build up surrounding their reputation is that of still being a humble place. It's a small business in a small town which happens to serve the best burger I've probably had up to this time in my life. Sure, I've eaten many burgers all over the continent from small mom and pops to chains to one off type places known for making renown or best of burgers as well but this place is simply put, special. The burger itself, 6 ounces of cooked perfection. Juicy, cheese melted (2 kinds) and bacon add ons twice over with better than generous portions of each. The peameal was thinly sliced but still generously topped. Thin being better in this case because of more surface of cooked meat to top the cooked meat patty. The bun again, perfect. No need branding the bun with their logo or gimmick that I've seen in many other places. Fresh, shiny, no sesame seeds, a single spear to keep it all together. I had realized that when I had ordered this burger that I didn't ask for any sauce. It didn't need it. Having the poutine was lubrication enough with the gravy with amazingly hot and fresh fries topped with even more bacon and cheese was the side compliment that was just right. I'm running out of words to go on about this place so I'll just leave it at this. Olympus deserves all the attention they get and probably deserves more for doing what they do and serving what they serve. This place is absolutely great. Well done Olympus! read more

Great place to go in Port Hope! Recently showcased on the TV show 'You Gotta Eat Here', Olympus has great service, family friendly atmosphere and great food. They have a number of different burgers to try, different buns, proteins and lots of toppings to choose from. If you go to their website they also have a 'secret menu'. I built my own burger exactly the way I wanted it, while my wife tried the Morpheus burger (from the secret menu) which has peanut butter on it; they also recommended adding Nutella on it as well. Doesn't sound appealing to me, but apparently my wife says it works with the peppercorn beef and jalapeños. The only down side for me was that my burger was a little overdone and the 'crispy bacon' was a little too crunchy. So next time I'll ask them to cook the burger to medium and get the peameal bacon instead. But overall a great experience! They even have beer/wine so it was a great place for us to go, enjoy the food, have a drink... then went to the Capitol Theatre to go see a show. read more
