What an amazing experience!! My friend wanted to go try tufting for her birthday so I had to bring her here after I saw our Queens CM Samantha had been here before. Taylor was a great teacher who was super informative and patient. My friend and I had a great time and can't wait to come back. This is going to be an expensive hobby . Scattered kind was easy to book via their website and very responsive to emails. My friend and I both did custom photos but their stock ones are also great choices. Parking was easy and finding the location was too.

Stopped by on Valentine's Day for a tufting workshop. The experience, from start to finish, was awesome. Instruction is as hands off or on as you could want and Andrew will make sure you walk away with a piece you're proud of. Definitely recommend checking this out for a very fun date night!

A Unique and Memorable Date Experience at Scattered Kind My wife and I booked a tufting session at Scattered Kind as a creative date idea--and it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences we've shared. From the moment we arrived, Andrew, the owner, greeted us with such warmth and professionalism. He made us feel right at home and took the time to walk us through the entire tufting process step by step. His clear instructions, encouragement, and passion for the craft truly enhanced the experience, especially as it was our first time trying something like this together. The studio has an inviting, artistic vibe that made it easy to get into a creative mindset. What made the day even more special was how supported we felt throughout--from choosing our designs to completing our final pieces. If you're looking for a unique date idea or just want to explore your creative side in a fun and welcoming environment, I can't recommend Scattered Kind enough. Andrew has created something really special here, and we're so glad we were part of it.

Loved this experience! Taylor was our class guide, she was very nice and knowledgeable. This was something new and just different for us. A very creative concept that we make our own rugs. The staff was very accommodating. They let our party stay and really allowed us to enjoy our time. We all loved this experience!

Just when you think you've seen it all.... This is the most fun and creative workshop out there. I never knew rug making was a thing and was thrilled to know I could get one done in just a few hours. I sent my 5 young adult kids to celebrate a birthday. Andrew was great in communicating with me in advance to set up the workshop. He was very responsive to all my questions and requests. The kids (ages 20-30) had a great time. Very creative, learned a new skill and a great memory. They have to go back in a couple of weeks to pick up their finished pieces which makes the excitement last even longer. Very much recommended.

I wanted to tuft a rug for a gift, and I remembered Queens CM Sam mentioning this studio (see her bubble tea rug!).

Most of the instructors were wonderful, offering guidance when I asked and space when I needed it. It is very reasonably priced and remains a true NYC institution. The only instructor I would caution against is Pat Lipsky. I found her conceited and negative, even spiteful at times. If your aesthetics do not align with Immanuel Kant or Clement Greenberg, you may not feel welcome in her class. After she asked me to help set up her studio for a visiting curator, I left the class. From that point on, she refused to acknowledge me when we crossed paths. Still, the overall experience was deeply meaningful. I am grateful for the time I spent here and the ways it shaped my work and friendships.

Passed by this on my way from Columbus circle, and I plan on coming back to try an art class. Nice historical looking building from the outside.

There's a lot of technique and skill that will require your understanding, attention and intention to get things going. Be kind and patient with yourself, and remember that practice makes perfect. The teacher is also very encouraging and helpful. I was having some trouble finding balance with how much pressure to use and in which angles to apply them and her patience and continued instruction while I tried to figure it out was very much appreciated. There was a moment when it finally clicked and I made 6 pieces that day, and she was genuinely happy and proud of me for not giving up and that feeling had me floating for the rest of the day. It's 3 hours of labor where you get to use your hands to learn, create and play. You also get studio hours with your package so you can come back in your own time to practice. It's an arduous hobby to pick up, but I'm sure in time it would grow into a calming and therapeutic one. I'm grateful for the experience and I definitely recommend. You might not look like those people in the movies that make it look all artsy and romantic, but in time you definitely might haha ;)

Great school if you want to build solid foundations of skills from the tradition of the old masters. Adult evening classes are well attended but not too crowded. Have not worked with all the teachers yet but so far I've felt really supported and nurtured, but not pampered. Really have to leave your ego at the door and come ready to work and absorb. Shout out to teacher Leo K for his patience, great skill, dry sense of humor. Varvara super as well. Heard good things about the other teachers but those mentioned were the ones I could coordinate with my work schedule. Now, the reason for this review. Bridgeview has a summer "Art Camp" in France each year and I was lucky enough to attend- 7 days of painting, touring, eating (Did I mention it is in France?) and good vibes, on the Brittany coast. I'm still high from it. School founders Lena and John acted as hosts and instructors - they've been doing it for 10 years all around France (And also Virginia USA which I may try next spring) and they know what they're doing. A completely joyful and rich experience that I have to Yelp about.. Down side, classes and trips can stress out your pocketbook. All I can say is the attention I've gotten in my artistic "journey" made it worth saving my pennies and investing in a Bridgeview education.

My class is taught by Abby on Wednesdays, who is really patient, an excellent instructor, and an incredible potter herself. The other teachers are great too - I've admired all their work on the greenware rack and have heard good things from other students. As for price, it's very reasonable - $480 for 6 weeks and you can do benchtime if you need or miss a class. For me it's totally worth it to have a little refuge in my neighborhood to hang out and make things. I've already replaced a bunch of my bowls and mugs with handmade bowls and mugs and my friends are now asking me to make them things since I've gotten a lot better since I first started. If you're thinking about signing up - DO IT! It's so worth it.

First, they're more expensive than most other studios in New York City. Earthworks is also more tight and cramped than others. There is little room to move around and no place to set your toolbox that is not in someone's way. WORST of all it's a very uptight place with strange, unnecessary, rigid rules and strict, odd policies. There is a high-strung vibe in this studio and you can feel it when you walk through the front door. There is a new owner and a fish stinks from the head. And why post images on social media of beautiful work that was NOT created or photographed in this studio? They steal images from the internet and post as their own. What does that tell you? There are other studios in the city. PLEASE don't come here.
