Great experience with Otto and Ashely - they helped us through every part of the wheel work and glazing process. Super beginner friendly and fun experience. The studio is very spacious and cute, and the instructors are the sweetest!

Abby is the best- she's so supportive informative and encouraging! This place is comfortable, relaxing, there's tea, AC, bathrooms, and you will have help for your piece so it's fantastic for absolutely beginners too.

My friends and I came to do a beginner pottery class last month, and our instructor Star was so sweet and guided us so well throughout the class. We originally opted for the basic pottery option but decided to upgrade after they explained we could paint the ceramics and have them food safe. It was just us 3 in the class, so it was small and Star was able to help each of us as we fumbled our way through. The end results are nice, I just wished that the glaze didn't crack, but it is still safe to use.

Booked this pottery studio for my birthday party, with friends traveling in from Connecticut and New Jersey by train to celebrate. We arrived on time--only to find out we were double-booked. The instructors on-site--Kaitlyn, Clara, and Heaven--were amazing and truly did their best to manage the chaos. They spent over 30 minutes trying to reach someone from the management company but no answer, no plan, no support. During that time, both parties stood around confused and increasingly frustrated, and result in few tension moments when we hear nothing for half a hour. We were basically left to resolve the situation ourselves, without a word from the people actually responsible for the mess. Even worse, we never heard from management--not then, not after. No apology. No explanation. No solution. After 40 minutes waiting for no result, we were the ones who proposed the solution. We stepped back and let the kids' party go first, and asked the instructor to reach out see if we can take a later slot on same day. This meant we had to reschedule dinner, and several of my friends--who took the train in from out of state--had to leave early and missed it. They went home to CT and Jersey frustrated, exhausted, and hungry. The only reason we were able to make anything of the day was thanks to Kaitlyn, Clara, and Heaven, who stayed calm and kind throughout. Despite all the craziness, we tipped them 20%, because they are amazing. But if you're thinking about booking a private event with Pottery Studio 1, think again. A day that was meant to be fun and memorable turned into a logistical nightmare. I gave the company over 24 hours to contact me and I have received nothing. The only communication I had with them is few unapologetic and arrogant text messages. (image attached. Enjoy :)) I truly hope they take this feedback seriously and make improvements--for future customers' sake. We're supposed to pick up our finished pieces in a couple of weeks--really hoping they don't screw that up too. :)

Took the pro pottery course (8 lessons) that was extremely fun and rewarding! Loved that the class only had a few students so our instructor was always attentive and helpful. Our instructor (Alexandra) is extremely talented at what she does and always provides us with constructive feedback. It was highly enjoyable having her as my instructor and being able to learn wheel-throwing and hand building techniques from her. This location is so convenient to get to - located right by Bryant Park and is both spacious and clean. I'd definitely recommend taking a course here - they offer one-time courses as well as long term classes. I will definitely consider coming back for a birthday party with friends.

Amazing staff and experience left feeling de stressed, and pleased with this awesome experience definitely recommend to anyone. So much time to create whatever masterpiece you want without any pressure for how it should turn out! Thanks Rivelle & Mo

What really sealed the deal for me was the ability to paint and leave with your masterpiece on the very same day. It was super important for the kids to take home what they worked on; waiting a whole week for a pot to cure and dry is something we can save for a future birthday. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed. There were other kids happily making soap, and the woman who greeted us kindly explained that we could pick whatever we wanted to paint. Once we selected our items, we paid and were set up at a table with paints, brushes, and an apron. I'm so glad she made sure we knew the paint didn't wash out of clothes. Pro-tip: Even if you're not painting, wear the apron. Trust me, your shirt will thank you for this advice! The kids had an absolute blast. It was so interactive, and once they finished, they had blow dryer stations so we could dry the paint. The best part? They took the painted items to the back and made them all shiny! This place is a definite hit. And I hear it's fun even for adults with no kids in tow. Girls' night, anyone? Sign me up!

Fortunately, the number of stars that I had for each experience was five. The first time around I painted the Cinderella figure and my mother painted the pumpkin figure. The second time around we painted mugs. The two projects required two different types of paint. Unfortunately, the prices are kind of insane. The Cinderella figure was $49.99 plus tax, the pumpkin was $29.99 plus tax, and both mugs were $29.99 plus tax. Even though it was expensive I still had so much fun and everything I made came out looking great. Everything my mom made came out looking great. I can see myself coming back, and I can't wait to see what my pieces look like once they're out of the kiln.

It was so fun getting to make our first potteries together, and the instructor, Iso was such a vibe; I loved her quirky uplifting spirit. She even made me a cute pottery to take home. She did her best to teach us the basics, but when there's a group of 9 people, I think it's just difficult to tend to everyone, so some people were struggling. I don't think anyone in my party left feeling satisfied with their work. It also sucked that a chunk of our booked time was allotted for cleaning up. It seems like that's the norm for pottery classes, but again, with that many of us, we wasted a lot of time just trying to take turns at the sink to clean up. Still, the experience was not bad at this point. We were excited to see the final results once they were glazed and colored. However, everything went downhill after we left the place. When I went there to pick up the potteries, everything was a mess. It was super difficult trying to find everyone's work admist a bunch of other potteries. With zero organization, it's no wonder they lost my sister's. So, they said they'll try to look for it and if they can't find it, they'll make her a new one. While it's nice that they rectified the situation by offering to make her a new one, that really defeats the purpose of taking the pottery class. Why not just go to the ceramics store instead? It would've been better if they offered to give her a free class to make a new one. At the end of it all, they couldn't find her work, so they made her a new one. But the process to receiving that new one took a while.

Yes, the views are amazing, however the weather has to be just perfect. Especially if you plan to use the outdoor patio. Which, why wouldn't you? The space itself is not for large groups, wedding party size approximately 50. Plus the wait, bar & other service staff. The location is prime, if you plan to take a car, remember this is NYC & traffic is bad. You can probably walk faster than a cab or car service. Especially during the month of December. NYC gets more visitors in December than all year long. The venue has 2 bathrooms for women which is not good, however worked for this crowd. Think of this location as a once in a lifetime, only if you have the funds for this location. As guests we were thrilled to be invited to such a lavish wedding!

Thinking of getting married at 620 Loft and Garden? Here's a short review from a wedding…read morephotographer's point of view: If budget isn't an issue, this place is simply magical! Rooftop wedding in the heart of Manhattan with incredible views of St. Patrick's Cathedral & Rockefeller Center. What more could you ask for? It's makes for one incredible experience for not just the bride and groom, but for all of the guests who are always completely blown away. As close as it is to being perfect, there are few things to keep in mind: 1. If the weather doesn't cooperate (as it didn't during the wedding I shot there, when it rained right before the ceremony), the main garden does get quite soggy. It got bad enough that the bride had to walk around the guests via the outer walkway instead of through the middle. Definitely not the ideal way to make an entrance. 2. The inside is as simple as it gets, so it's really up to you(r planner) to make it something amazing. Basically, picture a clean, white room; a blank slate. If minimalism is your thing (as is with me), then you'll love it. Otherwise, plan to get creative! 3. Space. It's definitely not for large events. Even for smaller weddings, the cocktail hour gets quite cramped. But if you're planning on getting married here, you know that already. From a solely photographer's perspective, while it does make possible some absolutely stunning shots (one of my favorite images was taken here, which you can see in the Photos section), the size of the venue as well as the blank indoor space does limit how creative you can get. If you're looking to get a wide variety of photos, I'd highly suggest you stop by another location for or after the First Look and get portraits before heading to 620 Loft and Garden. If you're set on getting married here, a gallery of a real wedding from 620 Loft and Garden is up on my site, so feel free to check it out for some wedding ideas!
