I wanted sconces that would hold taper candles, not the electric sort that leave you having to hide the trailing cord. So I decide to run to Sweet Magnolia to replace a candle that had recently burnt out completely when, lo and behold!, there is the most gorgeous pair of gold-leafed wall sconces hanging right before my eyes! This is why I love Sweet Magnolia - you can find such elegant pieces here when you least expect it. I also appreciate that their prices don't put a huge dent in your wallet. $58 for the pair? I'll take them! The store also carries the greatest soy candles ever by Aquiesse which last a rather long time and come in several delightful fragrances. They also carry an array of other home goods - Forte teas, place settings, bath and body products, stationery, baby gifts, and jewelry. Definitely a great little shop for finding last minute gifts or a treat for yourself. I've seen similar items at other stores like Anthropologie for twice the price, so why not patronize a local entrepreneur instead?

Whenever I need a little gift for someone (or myself) I know I can find it! To top it off she's really friendly, and always up for a chat. It is really nice to be able to shop local and we are lucky we have a boutique like Sweet Magnolia in the neighborhood.

Heirloom is a small, eclectic mix of the shop's own line of porcelain tableware, antique and vintage finds, and other treasures. Their porcelain products really caught my eye as they have and entire line of pieces modeled off of berry and peach baskets. I picked up a set of small cups that resemble the little peat pots one would use for seed planting - perfect for little succulent gardens! I also nabbed a glass cloche for my indoor terrariums. They are stocked with the sweetest tea towels, soaps, seed packets, and journals made from re-purposed book covers. You'll also find refinished furniture pieces and other odds and ends for your home. The shop also doubles as ceramic studio! Be sure to check their store hours as they are not open on Mondays or Tuesdays. You can also find their porcelain tableware at Terrain and Williams Sonoma.

We believe in displaying our goods functionally and artfully so that our shoppers can envision creating a similar environment at home and living with goods that are handmade, local, sustainable, repurposed, or vintage. We feature an ever-growing selection of goods from local artists and makers, many using repurposed materials as the foundation for their work: birdhouses skillfully assembled using salvaged architectural remnants, or wreaths, roses, and ornamental objects created from repurposed book pages.

My father, in an adjacent aisle, assessed clamp sizes or perhaps compared different hose fixtures for build quality and features. The worn wooden floor and musty scent already percolating into my childhood memory: this was a place I went with my dad, this was a thing I did with my dad. Now, as a grown man, I watch my own son peak into drawers of copper nails, fidget with the array of door handles and hinges, or pull dowels out of the cubby and look for room to swing them. Will he have a son? Will Kilian's still be here for them? Of course this place doesn't have the selection of Lowe's, how could it!? The whole of Kilian's is barely the size of the barbecue display at Lowe's. If you want the experience of a big box store that has almost everything, and is the same in every city or town, and where no one cares about anything, don't come to Kilian's. But if you want to talk to a real person about what concrete anchors they recommend, or about which adhesives work best for pressure treated lumber, you could do worse. If, however, you're like me and you're chasing the circle of existence, the cycle of living and dying, raging against the tide of nihilistic despair that is this age of necrotic empire, squeezing meaning out of this life through sheer force of will, then let go of your child's hand and let them wander the antiquated aisles of this institution, let them learn for themselves what a real hardware store is like.

Something that doesn't cater strictly to CHA moms, that has a contemporary yet vintage vibe, that is understated yet unique. Style Camp is akin to a small gallery where the pieces have been carefully chosen to incite that "oh I don't need it, but I totally want it" reaction from anyone passing by. The focus is on local, made in the USA goods that will add just the touch of luxury you've been craving. I love the Vic face and body cloths, the dainty seed-bead necklaces and soft-as-a-kitten scarves. Mother-daughter owners Bitsy and Natalie Rhoda have brought in unique items - a line of body products made by a young woman in Malvern, sumptuous leather goods, everyday denim, chic eyewear, and Rifle Company stationery goods. Style Camp is a great place to spend that next paycheck.

I really appreciate that they don't push you to buy clothing, or even try it on. They are laid back and comforting. I love their selection of casual t-shirts/layers and am in awe of the unique shirts, pants, and jumpers/dresses they have each season. I LOVE the simplicity of the store and the aesthetic of the clothes they pick. It's clean and unique clothing and of very high quality. Highly recommend this little store if you're looking for a simple statement piece that is flattering or looking for comfortable and practical clothing. Only thing is the clothes are fairly pricey--especially for a grad student. But it doesn't stop me from appreciating the clothes and hoping a favorite goes on sale!
