This Scandic was one of the nicer ones I stayed at during my trip to Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. For US travelers, the Scandic brand is similar to that of Holiday Inn, Ramada, etc. The Scandic was in a central location close to the shopping area, close to the ferries, and about 10 minute walk from the train station. I also enjoyed it as it was close to the gay bars.
The rooms were on the small side, but I found this typical with most Scandinavia hotels. The room amenities were good (flat screen TV, water kettle, extra pillow, rain shower). The staff was friendly. Every morning they offered complimentary breakfast in the basement. The breakfast was actually really good! It was filled all the way though the end. It featured a latte machine, fresh bread, hard/soft boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, beans, potatoes, juice, coffee, fish, fruit, yogurt, waffles, etc.
At night the hotel was secure so you had to badge to get in, but there was a 24/7 front desk agent. In the lobby there was a coffee machine with complementary coffee which was nice on my last night when I had to catch an early train. read more
