Rauma Railway from Andalsnes
This is a lovely scenic train journey and is a must for anyone to do and in my opinion even better than the Flam train. The Rauma Railway is 114 k long. The railway crosses the river Rauma, which is famous for it's salmon fishing. On the journey pass many beautiful views of mountains, trees, farm animals, bridges, lakes, buildings, waterfalls, Troll Wall and Troll Peaks. Sometimes though the tall trees did get in the way of the lovely views and was hard to see pass them. There is also an extraordinary tunnel which does a loop underground (360 degree curve) on the journey. The guide's commentary throughout journey was excellent and I love the story about the trolls. The carriages are nice as well and quite comfy. Only one downside about the train carriages is that there was no windows that could be opened so all photos were taking through glass windows so reflection happens. The train takes about an hour From Andalsnes to Rauma. This is a trip I wouldn't mind doing again in the future in a different season to get another perspective. read more
