My fabulous experience began right after I found South Bay Carpets and Hardwood Floors on Yelp and…read morerequested a consultation. They were the only company to respond quickly and show up to take measurements. Then we made an appointment to meet in the showroom, where Joshua very knowledgeably directed us to the options that met our needs. We had some timing issues and they remained flexible. The installation team showed up on time and ready to work. When an issue was identified with our subflooring on our stairs, South Bar Carpets sent out their wood specialist, who checked each stair to ensure it was structurally sound and discussed our options for remediating stains. He could have easily told us the stairs needed to be replaced (a hefty price), so I really appreciated his honesty! We treated the stairs ourselves following everyone's advice, then the installation team returned just when they said they would to finish the job. They were polite, helpful, efficient and did their best to contain the mess. Highly recommend. I love our new carpeting!

I hate writing reviews like this because I try to support local businesses, but this experience was…read moreunacceptable. I submitted a request through Yelp on a Friday evening. I received an immediate canned response that clearly wasn't based on anything I wrote or the photo I submitted. It even included a note about ignoring outreach from other companies. The next message invited me to call Joshua Diaz-Blanks, so I did. My call went to voicemail, I left a message, and I never heard back despite calling during their posted business hours on Saturday. Before they closed on Saturday, I texted Joshua. His response was that his grandmother was in the hospital and might not make it. I was sympathetic, offered prayers, and told him we could reconnect Monday or later if he needed more time. Then nothing. No follow-up, no update, no communication at all. On Monday, I walked into Banner Carpets on Artesia instead and purchased what I needed. It was a small $1,300 job, but small jobs add up and reliable service matters. This was handled very poorly, Joshua. I truly hope your grandmother recovers, and if her time is up, I wish her peace. But using a family emergency to excuse basic lack of communication is not professionalism. At some point, adulting is tough, but following through on what you promise is part of running a business. Amateur experience and extremely off-putting. One star Disclaimer: Do not call, text, email, or message me on Yelp regarding this review. I do not want further contact from this business. FOLLOW UP: Joshua texted me to discuss, then went to ChatGPT to craft a garbage response. You decide, I'm a liar and my review is nonsense? So disrespectful to me... 0 stars.

Prior to going to their place I had gone to a large carpet warehouse up north while visiting my son and daughter-in-love. Their prices were higher and while huge they had nothing I wanted. Taylor and Wendy's place was tiny by comparison, but they had almost everything I was looking for. Not only did I come away with area rugs for three bedrooms, the kitchen table, stair treads for my staircase, Taylor had a piece of in and outdoor carpet cut for my front entrance that fit perfectly! When the rugs were delivered, I found he had bound a runner from what was left of the carpet used for the circle rug under my kitchen table that gave me carpet in my hallway -- so nice! He also sent a remnant roll from what was left after cutting the front door mat. It was a pleasure doing business with them, and I will be back for more of my carpet needs.

Like paint you can think something will look good and you'll never know until it's installed. I am glad I trusted James's instinct. His two staff floor installers were also some of the best I've seen. Prior to James I had a carpet installer at another place and the carpet ended up having rolls in it 1-2 years later. AND.. I also had a kitchen remodel where the flooring people allowed water to seep in and the floor was damaged a year later (but it was too late by then and I could not get it replaced). These are OTHER experiences I am comparing to so you understand HOW GOOD JAMES IS. To-date, the carpet on my stair well is still flawless (this is now years later). And the the luxury vinyl plank James recommended are still my favorite in both color and quality. There have been zero issues. They were installed in 2020 and now in 2026 they're still phenomenal (sorry for the late review). We did the LVP flooring in our master bedroom, closet and bathroom. Thank you James!

This is one I'd like to shout from the mountains. Fred's Carpet and Brian Ulrich are the best. Product: A huge selection! (Don't worry, the help narrow it down for you.) Prices met or were under the three other bids I obtained (including Costco's vendor). Knowledge: Brian knows flooring. I've been in property management for years and he knows more than my commercial vendors. He was extremely kind and didn't try to oversell me, which I appreciated. Service: It took us a long time to decide and never was there pressure. Always courteous about my indecision and delays (and stopping back in the store). We actually bought our carpet in March, but didn't know when we could install. Every now and then I'd get a polite call asking if we were ready and I'd have to say no - "No problem", they'd respond kindly. Installation: We were able to install in August, and they allowed us to spread out installation because of our room configuration. That impressed me; it can't be the most efficient work for their people, but as a customer, I was their priority. The two workers were professional, courteous, fast as can be, and did an excellent job of installing. They didn't even flinch when I'd ask that a piece of furniture be moved an inch. This was amazing to me: Before we'd even ordered the carpet, I mentioned we also had to replace a bamboo floor transition strip of about 3' for a job a carpenter was doing for us at the time. Brian counseled us what type we needed and tracked down an exact match (of an old floor). He spent a lot of time on this extremely small sale of material only. When does that happen?
