Terrible customer service. They are out fishing most of the time. No ability to finish the job.

Scott and the team could not have been more helpful and skillful with the entire floors in our new home. They take pride in their work.

South Bay Carpets and Hardwood Floors

South Bay Carpets and Hardwood Floors

My fabulous experience began right after I found South Bay Carpets and Hardwood Floors on Yelp and…read morerequested a consultation. They were the only company to respond quickly and show up to take measurements. Then we made an appointment to meet in the showroom, where Joshua very knowledgeably directed us to the options that met our needs. We had some timing issues and they remained flexible. The installation team showed up on time and ready to work. When an issue was identified with our subflooring on our stairs, South Bar Carpets sent out their wood specialist, who checked each stair to ensure it was structurally sound and discussed our options for remediating stains. He could have easily told us the stairs needed to be replaced (a hefty price), so I really appreciated his honesty! We treated the stairs ourselves following everyone's advice, then the installation team returned just when they said they would to finish the job. They were polite, helpful, efficient and did their best to contain the mess. Highly recommend. I love our new carpeting!

I hate writing reviews like this because I try to support local businesses, but this experience was…read moreunacceptable. I submitted a request through Yelp on a Friday evening. I received an immediate canned response that clearly wasn't based on anything I wrote or the photo I submitted. It even included a note about ignoring outreach from other companies. The next message invited me to call Joshua Diaz-Blanks, so I did. My call went to voicemail, I left a message, and I never heard back despite calling during their posted business hours on Saturday. Before they closed on Saturday, I texted Joshua. His response was that his grandmother was in the hospital and might not make it. I was sympathetic, offered prayers, and told him we could reconnect Monday or later if he needed more time. Then nothing. No follow-up, no update, no communication at all. On Monday, I walked into Banner Carpets on Artesia instead and purchased what I needed. It was a small $1,300 job, but small jobs add up and reliable service matters. This was handled very poorly, Joshua. I truly hope your grandmother recovers, and if her time is up, I wish her peace. But using a family emergency to excuse basic lack of communication is not professionalism. At some point, adulting is tough, but following through on what you promise is part of running a business. Amateur experience and extremely off-putting. One star Disclaimer: Do not call, text, email, or message me on Yelp regarding this review. I do not want further contact from this business. FOLLOW UP: Joshua texted me to discuss, then went to ChatGPT to craft a garbage response. You decide, I'm a liar and my review is nonsense? So disrespectful to me... 0 stars.

As a general contractor with decades of experience in the trades, I'm pretty particular about the…read morepeople I bring onto my projects. Paul is one of those rare tradesmen whose craftsmanship is matched by his integrity, authenticity, and genuine commitment to getting things right. I've come to trust him implicitly, and having him on a job gives me something invaluable: peace of mind knowing the work will be done properly. In this business, that's about as close to an insurance policy as you can get. I've spent much of my career working on everything from conventional construction to historic restoration, including a Frank Lloyd Wright home in the Chicago area. That experience gives you an appreciation for the details that separate good work from exceptional work. Paul has that same old-school understanding of craftsmanship, whether he's installing hardwood, vinyl plank, or working with more specialized materials and restoration applications. Our projects have ranged from seamlessly weaving new oak into an aged, deteriorated floor in an older home to specialized cork installations in a historic downtown LA nightclub. Different challenges, but the same thoughtful approach and attention to detail. Paul is fair, dependable, takes ownership of his work, and stands behind what he does. We also share the belief that the spaces people live in deserve to be treated with care and respect. I don't make recommendations lightly, but Paul is someone I trust with my own reputation. I recommend him without reservation.

I needed to have my floor repaired after removing an old gas floor furnace in my living room. Since…read moreit's in the main part of the house, I really wanted the repair to match the original flooring as closely as possible. I texted Paul some pictures, and he was able to give me a quote over the phone. Once I agreed to move forward, he got me scheduled pretty quickly. Luis came out and explained what needed to be done. Since the original composite floor panels are no longer made, he had to cut individual pieces of white oak to match the exact size and keep the original look of the panels. You could tell a lot of time and care went into it. After carefully piecing everything together, he sanded and finished it to match the original color of the floor. Honestly, when it was done, I could not tell the difference. The repair blended in perfectly with the original floor. Really impressed with the craftsmanship and attention to detail. I'd definitely recommend Paul's Wood Flooring.

Like paint you can think something will look good and you'll never know until it's installed. I am glad I trusted James's instinct. His two staff floor installers were also some of the best I've seen. Prior to James I had a carpet installer at another place and the carpet ended up having rolls in it 1-2 years later. AND.. I also had a kitchen remodel where the flooring people allowed water to seep in and the floor was damaged a year later (but it was too late by then and I could not get it replaced). These are OTHER experiences I am comparing to so you understand HOW GOOD JAMES IS. To-date, the carpet on my stair well is still flawless (this is now years later). And the the luxury vinyl plank James recommended are still my favorite in both color and quality. There have been zero issues. They were installed in 2020 and now in 2026 they're still phenomenal (sorry for the late review). We did the LVP flooring in our master bedroom, closet and bathroom. Thank you James!
