DISCLAIMER **** I visited La Scala twice and had quite different experiences. I would rank the first one with 2.5 and the second one with 5. So I decided to rank it with a 4 overall, as the second visit convinced me to continue going there*****
First time I went there was for the birthday of a friend.. we wanted to take him out and treat him in a nice place and we chose Pizzeria Scala. We had reserved a table for 5 people, but we ended up being only 4. So, they basically fit 2 other people at the same table with us, as the place was crowded. We found this to be very rude. The waiter spoke no English and was completely unfriendly. We asked him to give us few more minutes for the order and he seemed so pissed about this that he ignored us for the next 15 minutes. Even when we spoke to him in German, he was constantly bored and even giving us wrong indications!
The food however was very good (I had a pizza Parma and my friends all got pastas). Especially the home made pastas are very good.
We decided to leave this place and try the deserts somewhere else, as the service was really bothering us. Too bad...
Even if I didn't plan to come back for the second time, I was in the area and it was around 10pm on a weekday. Both my boyfriend and I were hungry, so we tried La Scala again. This time, a lady waitress served us. She was extremely nice. Made us recommendations from the menu and was giving her best to find something which we really like. I got the pasta with gorgonzola sauce, which I found to be quite good. I think my boyfriend got the carbonara and he was super happy with it. The restaurant was intimate, few people and the atmosphere was complete opposite from the first time I went there.. We had a great time!
Moral of the story: even if you have the staff, but love the food.. give it another try! come back, maybe not all the waitress are rude! :) read more
