Truffle Campanelle
Emanuel M.

First off, this place is more bar than restaurant... and it seems the place is 40+, didnt really see much of the younger crowd in here which is i guess good in itself. Ambiance: Decor looks like a catering hall so if you planning to throw a small party, im sure this place might be good. Since its a bar, it can get a bit noisy. Price: $$$ Service: our Server Ashley was phenomenal, offered good suggestions. Food came out in a timely manner. Food: We ordered the following A Coconut Mojito Raw Clams (12x Middle Neck / Cherrystone) A French Onion Soup A 24oz New York Strip- Medium Rare (w/ Asparagus side) A Truffle Campanelle The Mojito was pretty strong but definitely was good... coconut definitely made the mojito interesting... got the coconut taste first then the mint slowly came in. *Recommend* Raw Clams, presentation was nice, but clams varied in sizes, ranging anywhere that seems like littlenecks to cherrystones, taste wise was on the bland size, didnt get that fresh clam taste but that might just be due to it not being in season. French Onion Soup, very typical, nothing special. Truffle Campanelle, (recommended by Ashley) very flavorful, and creamy. No Pungent taste from truffles, not too salty, and very filling even tho the portion seems small. New York Strip, for the price point and the weight, it is definitely a 2+ person course. Steak was blackened, and served precut. Absolutely tender and juicy even though im pretty sure it hasnt rested enough (one can only imagine if it had its 10 min rest before the cut)... the herb butter they have is also very good, which brings up the blackened rub / bark. Its on the salty side, but with the butter it balances out. Side of Asparagus, fresh, long, and full. Stalk wasnt fiberous and old. But damn for $15 bucks... that was a boujee call on for me... All in all, place was pretty good, food was good enough to not complain of, for an upscale lounge, not much to complain about. Definitely a nice place to grab a drink with some friends.

Decided to try this place today..on Sunday at around 145pm....Exceptional service...Greeted by i think the owner and manager Vinnie...Our server Nick was on point and drinks were excellent and our burratta tomato presentation was gorgeous...the sable fish entree with fiddlehead and assorted mushrooms with orange blossom sauce was perfection as was the pan seared scallops with lobster... Def will be returning here..BATTS loves this place....

Colossal shrimp cocktail made with a delicious custom sauce

Stopped by a New Restaurant Saturday 286South, so Happy I did the ambiance was like a Classy Supper Club, the DJ was great as the Service and staff friendly and helpful. Now let's get down to the Food it was Wonderful so well plated and presented, the flavors were impressive starting with our appetizers we did a mix to taste each others so I could tell you, well I wasn't disappointed the Shrimp Cocktail was excellent custom cocktail sauce. That was excellent. I believe it had some Juniper in it which made it so diverse you just wanted more. Then I ordered the Octopus with Roman Artichokes with the stems, well done. Tomatoes and Olives so delicious and beautiful to the eye. I continued with Meatball Dumplings presented in a oven baked Turin with a delicious melted cheese like a French Onion Soup melted in my mouth. Chef is a genius, did I mention he is a James Beard is a recipient, the highest standard, respectful of his food source, and the highest quality standards, with an art and presentation. II proceeded with two different types of pasta even though this is not an Italian restaurant, I wasn't disappointed I ordered the spaghetti and clams made with Calabrese peppers excellent well done chef then I ordered the Mafalda pasta made with sliced asparagus, in a spinach, basil, mint pesto, which brought it to the next level well done. The chef sent out a short beef rib over corn bread in a Spectacular brown Gravy I literally ate it with a fork. That's how tender it was ,kudos for that. It was my favorite dish, was not expecting the cornbread which was made by the chef I thought it was polenta. My first bite was just as exciting as the last. We took a little break, finished our drinks and talk and then received our espresso and my American coffee which was served with a small cream container so cute and the cream was very good quality. The coffee was great. We ordered two different desserts the crème brûlée, which was delicious, and we ordered a blueberry cheesecake which was as light as a cloud the presentation was a form of art, and the lightness and freshness of the cheesecake was spectacular. Not at all what you're used to but better, so all in all , we had a great time I suggest you try this restaurant, oh did I mention they also have private party rooms they have an outdoor seating area on both sides of the restaurant front and back and the best of all valet parking so you don't have to walk or look around for a parking space. So next time you have a group of friends or a family function and you want higher quality go see 286 S. tell them Grace Surano Vinciguerra sent you ciao

Candied sweet potatoes

I made a reservation for a Thursday at 4:15pm. When we walked in there was no one there but they did just open. We were given a regular menu, pre fix menu and I asked for the drink menu. I got a pineapple mojito (I can't remember the real name) and my friend got an espresso martini. We both liked our drinks. I ordered from the pre fix menu which comes with an app, salad, entree, dessert and coffee or tea. The regular menu has gluten free items marked (YAY). I ordered from the pre fix menu. I got the bbq wings, and chicken francese. My friend got the fried meatballs, tomato mozzarella salad, candied sweet potatoes, Mac and cheese, and the filet mignon. We were given a basket of butter and some kind of oil dip. It didn't take long for the apps to come out. I was eating my wings when the chef comes out to ask how I like the bbq sauce. So I said good. My friend tried it and says you don't think that taste odd. I said no. Apparently he put his own twist on it that I didn't taste but my friend didn't like it and when I had my mom try it she didn't like it either ‍ We both liked that the meatballs were homemade but he didn't like the texture from it it being fried. They were not seasoned at all. Shortly after we got our salads. Mine was a nice portion and tasted good. Not sure what kind of dressing was on it though and I wasn't given a choice. He strongly disliked his tomato and mozzarella salad. He said there were too many flavors going on. Throughout the service the waitress checked on us. My chicken francese came with two cutlets and veggies. It's salty and has no lemon flavor. I still eat it. My friends filet is crusted in spices which would've been great if his wasn't super salty. He cut 90 percent of the crust off. He asked for it medium well but it was more done on the well side which is ok with him. He also got veggies with his meal. The Mac and cheese was very good. Creamy and cheesy. We were both confused by the candied sweet potatoes because they were just sliced oven roasted potatoes with no seasoning/ sweetness. For dessert I just got vanilla ice cream and tea. The ice cream came in a tall silver flute probably a scoop and a half of ice cream. She asked me what kind of tea I wanted so I just said black tea I'm not sure if what other choices they have. The restaurant inside is beautiful. There's a fake fireplace on the wall, black grey and white color scheme. The bathroom is very big. The whole restaurant is wheelchair accessible. While dining I had looked around. There was a bus boy folding what looked like 100 napkins at the bar. I didn't think that looked great but understood. All the waitresses wear black but one lady who had a backless shirt on. I thought it was odd. She was standing at the bar and the chef walked by to caress her bare back. He said something about her looking sexy. She cringed and so did we at the table. The waitress and busboys did a great job. The chef not so much.

We ordered a bunch of food, and everything was just okay. Same for the drinks decent, nothing special. I was actually going to rate it higher... until I saw roaches. That instantly changed everything and made me question the entire sanitation of the restaurant. I've been nauseous just thinking about it. Once you see one roach, you already know there are more and if you bring even one into your home, it becomes a nightmare to get rid of. Because of that, I cannot recommend this place to anyone. Cleanliness is the bare minimum, and this totally ruined the experience.

A beautiful entrance with artificial flowers covering the walls, a heart of red flowers. Inside a collection of pottery resembling relics of pre-Columbian times. The menu was limited. I swayed between steaks, and decided on Puerquito, a dish for two. Slow roasted pork, rice & peas, onion escabeche, maduros. Delicious. I had left-overs for two more meals. An iced cold Presidente beer accompanied the meal. Service was pleasant and prompt by a young woman, Dayria. Music played in the background, not too loud, maybe because I was sitting at the front of the restaurant. An espresso to cap the meal was needed to End a good dinner. I left happy and full.
