Wisconsin Kitchen Mart completed the design work and remodeling for my kitchen this summer and they…read morewere the best contractor that I have ever worked with. Wisconsin Kitchen Mart has been in business since 1951 and are considered one of the top kitchen/bath design remodelers in the area. (no I do not work for them). Here is their website: http://wisconsinkitchenmart.com/ This year we embarked on a year long adventure to remodel our entire house (basement, kitchen, 1st floor powder room, laundry room, paint & design in remaining house). When so much being done, it was important that contractors meet their deadlines. We started our kitchen remodeling odyssey by meeting with their designer Russ Waters in Dec 2010 at their large showroom at 36th and Wisconsin. He listened attentively and developed drawings and a quote and within several weeks we had signed a contract. Of course he had to make several other trips to their showroom as well as numerous calls and emails and went through several drawing changes and requotes to get to the final concept but they showed up on the designated day and work was completed on time and on budget. I was able to save some money by doing the demo work and painting myself. Russ and WKM were sensitive to our budget and timeline and they kept the jobsite clean and orderly - it's hard enough to go without a kitchen for 5 weeks.

Lewis Custom Cabinets - Wrong cabinet over refrigerator

I ordered a complete set of kitchen cabinets from Lewis Custom Cabinets, with Cambria Countertops…read more Fred Lewis and his wife Bonnie gave me wonderful service, and solid (fiscally responsible) recommendations. Yes, there were cabinet production delays. These were completely beyond the control of this business. Was it irritating? Absolutely. Is there any such thing as a construction job without a hitch? No, there really isn't.... Mr. Lewis installed the cabinets himself. He knows his stuff. My countertops are amazing, and the fabrication and installation was absolutely seamless.

I told Mr Lewis to install after New Year's Day 2023. They starting installing cabinets then I find out my cabinet over the Refrigerator was not ordered. I asked Mr Lewis did you not check my cabinets to make sure they were all there before notifying me? I hope it doesn't take 4 months for that 1 cabinet to come in. I also discovered the cabinets are no better quality than a lot other cabinets sold in big box stores and not worth the money he charges for the brand he sells Koch Seneca is the Cabinet Manufacturer. Shop around people don't fall for his price gouging he is over priced for what you get. I bought cabinets from Hobo's when they were open. The cabinets were better quality. I paid under $3000.00 for 17 cabinets. I drove from Texas to buy my cabinets from Hobo's. Koch Seneca cabinets are cheap press wood not ply wood. The drawers are even cheap. These cabinets were regular stock sizes not special order sizes. Mr Lewis uses this company so that he can over charge people because he orders them. You can order cabinets from Menards, Home Depot and Lowes. Mr Lewis showed up today 2/06/23 with the cabinet over the refrigerator it was smaller than the 36x24x14 I paid for he thought he could pull a fast one over on me. I took one look at it and realised it was a 36x24x12. His excuse was that since I was buying another refrigerator anyway I should just except. It was from a different manufacturer I noticed the difference right away. Do not do business with this man he is a con artist.

We got several bids and ultimately went with North Shore Kitchen & Bath because (1) their bid was competitive with everyone else who bid, (2) we had them recommended by neighbors, (3) we loved the convenience of the turn-key (start-to-finish) service with a full showroom and (4) the fact that we picked all materials out before signing a full contract meant we were able to have a much more accurate idea of the actual final cost going into the remodel. They met with us several times and we fine-tuned the contract and our product choices so that all our questions and decisions were down in writing. They began the work on the day specified and we were given a 6-8 week timeline; the job was finished in 6 weeks, 3 days. We had a few change orders along the way due to some unexpected structural issues and some minor additions we made along the way but the change order costs were all signed off on by us before the work and all reasonable give the additional scope of work. Throughout the entire process, Rick, Tom and the whole team were honest and transparent. Not only was their work impeccable, but they addressed all my concerns as they cropped up and they kept the rest of my house as clean as possible (which was impressive considering they were renovating and repairing water damage on all three levels of our home). The whole team was also extremely friendly, and were very gracious to my two kids who asked them a million questions about the process and also gave attention to my people-loving dog. I also want to give a special shout-out to our designer, Beth. She was very good at understanding what we were going for in our design, was able to merge my husband's and my differing viewpoints on items and also helped steer us towards options that we didn't consider in the beginning, but were of course, ultimately the correct choice. We would recommend Rick, Tom and the whole North Shore Kitchen & Bath team in a heartbeat. We have another 1960s original bathroom to redo in the future and as soon as we have the funds saved up, we know who to call!

North Shore Kitchen & Bath completed my kitchen project recently. It was not a complete kitchen…read moreremodel - I had my walls/cabinets painted, replaced the countertop/sink, and added a backsplash. I am mostly happy with the overall result of the project, and the cost was more affordable than other businesses with whom I discussed the project. However, I will say the process to get to the final result could have been much smoother. NSKB's communication was lacking. From the beginning of the process when I was working with the designer to pick out finishes, I would have to reach out myself whenever I wanted an update because I would go weeks (sometimes over a month) without getting any information. When I did reach out, I usually had to follow up multiple times before I finally got an email back. I was told a start date for my project, and then when I reached out with a question later the designer mentioned a different date. The change had not been run by me or communicated to me. Had I not reached out myself, I wouldn't have known until they showed up that morning to start. The painters had to come back multiple times for touch ups after finishing the initial job. They got paint on my under-cabinet lighting and hardware because they didn't tape around or remove them; they just painted around things. Paint was spilled on my floors and the NSKB team was able to clean it up a majority of the way, but there is a permanent spot that is darker than the rest of my floor. The team also lost two pieces from hinges and were not able to hang the last cabinet door. It took NSKB almost 2 months to come back and find a solution after I followed up with them multiple times. Overall, the project that was supposed to be completed in early December ended up taking until the end of January.
